Why Placebo Medication Works and Why it Should be Prescribed
Some examples of placebo medication could be anything ranging from a sugar pill to a fake shot.
What is Placebo Medication?
A placebo is anything that seems like a "real medical treatment but actually it isn't. It has no active substance that can affect health but the patient might experience a difference.
What are some types of Placebos?
There are many types of Placebos and they can be in any form. They are usually found in a pill or shot. However they can also be a fake treatment, fake test and even a fake surgery. One such example is obecalp which is a cherry tasting sugar pill which has no effect on the actual user.

Introduction to Placebo Medication:
Why Should You Let Someone take Placebo Medication? * Mind over matter. The body has powerful, natural recuperative abilities and a placebo could help facilitate this. * Acts as a psychological boost, that a person's positive attitude may be important in recovery from illness. * The placebo effect may be a measurement of changed behavior affected by a belief in the treatment. * Placebos actually work, successful treatments are in one third of all patients treated with placebos * Many studies have been shown that placebos have an effect on depression, pain, sleep suborders, irritable bowel syndrome and even menopause.

Why Placebos Are NOT Unethical * When the doctor prescribes the placebo he/she isn’t trying to do harm. Instead the doctors trying to help the patient with all they can. * If patients knew about the placebo pill, no results would occur and it would ruin the whole point of the “fake” medication * If the patient receives a nocebo effect (where the patient think they receive got a bad side affect but really didn't) it is all how the patients themselves decide whether or not the drug works or not.

What One Expert Say About Placebos

“Patients who came to me got better, sometimes their relief began even before he’d started his treatments.”
-Ted Kaptchuck (Professor at Harvard University) who recently did tests on placebos on many patients.

You Will Never Sleep with a Woman Who Looks Like That

...You Will Never Sleep With a Woman Who Looks Like That TBD Courtesy of Justin Halpern Facebook Twitter Pinterest Email comment May 15, 2012 Justin Halpern If you discount countless, forgettable chunks of time spent at school, home, and 7-Eleven, I passed most of my waking hours from ages ten through twelve playing baseball and goofing off with friends at the Point Loma Little League fields. Those two adjacent baseball fields were about a mile from my house, and twice a week my team, the San Diego Credit Union Padres, would gather there to practice. "You should just be called the Padres, not all that bullshit about credit unions," my dad said, as he drove me to the field on the opening day of the season when I was eleven years old. "But the credit union pays for us to have a team," I said. "Yeah, well, I pay for you to do everything, and you don't see me making you wear a shirt with my giant goddamned face on it." "That would be a weird shirt," I said. "Please. You wear all kinds of dopey shirts, and — what the fuck am I talking about right here? The shirt's not real, I'm just making a point. You got your gear?" he asked, pulling up to the field. Saturdays were filled with a full lineup of games, all of which the league's players were required to attend, so my parents could drop me off bright and early and then do whatever they wanted all day until my game. The prospect of a morning to himself was very exciting for my dad. "There's a lot of good teams...

Slaughter House Five

...character of Billy Pilgrim to express his own feelings of trauma because of the difficulty to address them on a personal level. Like Vonnegut, Billy Pilgrim was captured by the Germans, and witnessed the fire bombing in Dresden on February 13, 1945, which is known to be the most detrimental airstrike in military history, killing an estimated 135,000 people. “He was down in the meat locker on the night that Dresden was destroyed. There were sounds like giant footsteps above. Those were sticks of high explosive bombs. The giants walked and walked...A guard would go to the head of the stairs every so often to see what is was like outside, then he would come back down and whisper to the other guards. There was fire-storm out there. Dresden was one big flame. The one flame are everything organic, everything that would burn.” (Vonnegut 177) This quote from the book illustrates how the image of Dresden is instilled in Vonnegut's brain, from when he witnessed it, and how he can't let go of his lingering memories of Dresden. Billy Pilgrim is greatly disturbed by the obliteration he witnessed in Germany. These events signify Vonnegut’s painful past and he comes to terms with his pain through the writing of Slaughter-House Five. Freese explains,“The eventual result of Vonnegut's attempt to come to terms with his Dresden experience was his “anti-war book” Slaughter-House Five, of which was a therapeutic thing.”(Freese 74) Vonnegut used his writing to self heal the pain he suffered from his...

There’s currently a machine that belches and farts, breaking down our waste, to provide energy to power over 6 acres of greenhouse power, currently in effect at a farm owned by Bayview flowers. Annually, they cut their energy bill from 300,000 to 200,000. That’s a lot of money, and mainly, these machines are at big companies, but 20 years from now, Each and every home might have one installed, and they will most likely be smaller. 2. Please go to http://changethis.com/content/reader next ChangeThis It’s another radio station in another city in the overwhelming and terrifying process known as a book tour. I’m a first-time author on a very controversial subject—grammar snobbery—just beginning to realize I’m in way over my head. The radio show host wants to know my thoughts on all those people out there who don’t even try to use or to learn proper grammar. Everything about my host tells me that he is, by nature, a democratic and diplomatic kind of guy. But between the lines I think I catch the scent of something else—the passion of the people who see my grammar column in their local newspapers and send me e-mails saying, “As a fellow grammar and usage Nazi …” or, “Keep fighting against abuse of the language!” In my columns, I don’t fight abuse at all. I don’t bemoan others’ crimes against English or wail about how it’s going into the crapper. I’m not a grammar or usage Nazi. I’m not a snob, a snoot or even a stickler. I’m not “fellow” anything to them at all. Just because I write a column offering help to people who want to use better English doesn’t mean that I would impose good grammar on others. Short of coughing and fanning the air in the presence of a cigarette smoker, grammar provides the easiest way for an American...
