When she orders her farm boy, Westley, to do orders, he answers, “As you wish.” Buttercup eventually comes to realization that Westly was saying, “I love you.” Westly leaves the farm to seek his fortune, so they can become married. When on his mission, his ship is attacked by Dread Pirate Roberts and was believed to be dead. Five years later, Buttercup gives up waiting for Westly to return and agrees to marry Prince Humperdinck. Before the wedding, she was kidnapped by Fezzik, Vizzini, and Inigo Montoya. The three outlaws brought her to the rival’s shores where they would kill her. On the way to the rivals shores, the outlaws encounter a problem, a man in black followed them trying to capture Buttercup. Overcoming all the outlaws’ tricks and trades, the man in black eventually captured Buttercup and revealed himself as Dread Pirate Roberts. In anger, Buttercup pushed him down the slope. Tumbling down the slope he said, “As you wish” to reveal himself as Westly. They escaped from Humperdinck as he was closing in on capturing them. Buttercup waits for Westly to come back from his mission on the ship and doesn’t want to be with anyone other than Westly. She will not marry Prince Humperdinck, because she believes he will come back for her even though it has been five years. Westly fought all the outlaws to capture to Buttercup. If he would have given up, she would’ve been killed later that evening. He fought for his love, he wanted to be with her and wouldn’t let her escape matter no what he encountered on his way.
