Introduction

Carl Robbins, a recently hired recruiter for ABC, Inc, was given the responsibility of hiring trainees to work for, Operations Supervisor, Monica Carrolls. Carl successfully hired fifteen new trainees; however he neglected to make sure that each step of the hiring process was complete. Carl has several major problems to solve: He must make sure that every trainee has taken and passed the mandatory drug test; He must also make sure that every application is complete and has the necessary transcripts. He is also responsible for obtaining all necessary orientation material; along with a room in which to hold the orientation.

Case Background

ABC , Inc hired Carl Robbins as a recruiter. The believed him to be both capable and competent to carry out the hiring process of fifteen new trainees. In early April after only six months in his new position he “successfully” hired those trainees. He knew that to get them working by July he had to schedule the orientation for June 15. Monica, the Operations Supervisor contacted Carl on May 15 just to make sure that everything was on schedule. Carl, perhaps feeling a bit vainglorious about his achievement failed to look over the necessary information related to his new hires until two weeks before the scheduled orientation . When he did he discovered that the trainee files were incomplete. Some lacked transcripts, others had incomplete applications and all were in need of a drug test. He also failed to make sure that he had fifteen complete orientation manuals, as well as a place to hold the orientation .
Monica Carroll Carl’s supervisor placed a huge amount of responsibility on her new recruiter. Carl hired the trainees in early April however Monica did not contact Carl until May 15 and when she did she simply wanted to make sure that the new

Monica Carrolls should have given Carl Robbins some specific guidelines to follow since he had only been working for ABC Inc. for six months; and this was his first time setting up a training session. Walmart’s actions created issues of legality and ethics. First, in 1977, Congress passed the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act that makes foreign bribery illegal (“Walmart’s Bribery”, 2013).
