Story’s Title and Meaning /2:
The “Destructors” is titled this way, it was nine years after World War II and all was left was destruction, the “Wormsley Common Gang” had to live through the aftermath of the destruction and want to have fun by destroying a two-hundred year old home, and burning money inside, and destroy the upper class.
The title means, that destruction is going to happen by someone, and how the war has affected the teenagers of the era.

Thomas: Mr. Thomas, who is know as Old Misery by the gang, is an older man who lives in No.3 one of the last homes that is still supported in the neighborhood, he leaves the house once a week to buy groceries. He trusts the boys to respect his house and property, he allows them to go into his yard only if they go through the house, cause he is all alone and company is grateful. Mr. Thomas believes in the old society were the youth respects the elder so he show T. around his house trusting him.

Conflict /2:
The conflict of "The Destructors" is man vs. society or Trevor vs Society. The gang have to deal with the results of World War II aftermath through their child and teenage years. They use their imagination to reconstruct scenes of violence, demonstrating the influence of their environment on them. The bombed area where they meet symbolizes this. They fight for the lower class by sneaking on bus for free rides, and against the upper class.
