One of the biggest differences between The Giver the book and The Giver the movie is the changes that were made in the plot of the film adaptation. More specifically, a large change that was made in the plot was Jonas’s relationship with Fiona. The scriptwriters added multiple different events between Jonas and Fiona that developed their affinity and transformed the movie into a love story, most likely to attract more viewers.
One event that was significant in the movie was when Jonas kissed Fiona and she was taken by surprise. In the book, if Jonas kissed Fiona she would be confused and would be thrown off guard because she was unable to have feelings, and therefore would not share the same feelings as Jonas. The scriptwriters included their kiss to accentuate Jonas’s feelings for Fiona, and to foreshadow the sacrifices that Fiona would later make to develop the love story such as skipping injections and aiding Jonas in his escape. …show more content…
Because Jonas had feelings for her, he was so desperate for her to have feelings for him too that he persuaded her to skip her injections. In the book, Fiona doesn’t know or understand the feelings that Jonas has for her, but the script writers decided to make the feelings mutual. Jonas understands what the injections do and is capable of having feelings, but in the book Jonas knows that Fiona doesn’t know what the significance of the injections are and they are a normal necessity for her. This change was most likely made in order to set the scene for the end of the movie where Fiona would rebel to help Jonas. This also develops the love story of the movie by confirming that they both are stepping outside of the society’s regulations for each

The Life

...debut. (Lionsgate) Jennifer Lawrence’s Katniss Everdeen is a new type of female action film icon, and moviegoers should be very excited about that, writes Lisa Schwarzbaum. As Catching Fire ignites on movie screens around the world, this is what we know about the 21st Century heroine called Katniss Everdeen: she is strong but also soft. She is brave but she has doubts. She is a phenomenal fictional creation, yet is real enough that moviegoers can draw inspiration from her values, her resourcefulness, and her very human inner conflicts. And she is played by Jennifer Lawrence, who appears not only to be handling her current duties as Hollywood’s finest model of well-adjusted millennial female stardom but doing so with charm. Everdeen and Lawrence: golden girls both. Personified in Lawrence’s lithe movements and cool, focused gaze, Katniss is a brave, resourceful and independent-minded fighter; but she is also a troubled and vulnerably guilt-ridden human being. Nina Jacobson, the producer of the Hunger Games film franchise, puts it this way: “She is a singular heroine in that the burden of survival weighs on her. She has a ton of survivor’s guilt.  And she keeps surviving.” Girl on fire It is strange that behaving like a well-adjusted and responsible young woman counts as movie-star news – or that the popularity of a female lead character who is strong and feminine, brave even when scared, compassionate even when imperfect, and respectful even when breaking with tradition counts...

Short Note on Contact Law

...Q. What is a general offer? How is a contract created through general offer? Refer to leading cases. An offer may be made to the world at large. Such an offer is a general offer. However, a contract is not done with the whole world but only with the person who comes forward and accepts the offer. The acceptance might be express or implied. As per Anson, "An offer need not be made to an asertained person, but no contract can arise until it is accepted by an ascertained person". Case of Carllil vs Cabolic Smoke Ball Company. Creation of the contract - If the person performs the conditions of the offer. Thus, a person who finds a lost dog fulfills the condition of the prize money and thus a contract with the owner of the dog is created. General Offer of Continuing Nature - Some offers such as finding a lost object close when it is accepted by the first person. However, some offers, such as in the Carllil case, it can be accepted by any number of persons until the closing date of offer or until it is retracted. Q. Describe the law relating to communication of proposals, their acceptance and their revocation. Section 2(a) of Indian Contract Act 1972 says that when a person signifies his willingness to do or to abstain from doing something to another, with a view to obtaining the assent of that another, he is said to make a proposal.  Further, section 2(b) says that when the person to whom the proposal is made signifies his assent, the proposal is said to be accepted. Bloodlines of the Illuminati

...Bloodlines of Illuminati by: Fritz Springmeier, 1995 Introduction: I am pleased & honored to present this book to those in the world who love the truth. This is a book for lovers of the Truth. This is a book for those who are already familiar with my past writings. An Illuminati Grand Master once said that the world is a stage and we are all actors. Of course this was not an original thought, but it certainly is a way of describing the Illuminati view of how the world works. The people of the world are an audience to which the Illuminati entertain with propaganda. Just one of the thousands of recent examples of this type of acting done for the public was President Bill Clinton’s 1995 State of the Union address. The speech was designed to push all of the warm fuzzy buttons of his listening audience that he could. All the green lights for acceptance were systematically pushed by the President’s speech with the help of a controlled congressional audience. The truth on the other hand doesn’t always tickle the ear and warm the ego of its listeners. The light of truth in this book will be too bright for some people who will want to return to the safe comfort of their darkness. I am not a conspiracy theorist. I deal with real facts, not theory. Some of the people I write about, I have met. Some of the people I expose are alive and very dangerous. The darkness has never liked the light. Yet, many of the secrets of the Illuminati are locked up tightly simply because secrecy is a way...

Wait—let’s stop there. To be honest, I kind of cringe at the thought of this being a weight loss book, because I firmly believe that we are so much more than numbers and that what really matters in life is who we are, not what we weigh. But I understand that you probably picked this book up because you’d like to be healthier and weigh less. I get it! I am very grateful that you are here, and I am excited to share my story and what I’ve learned from working with thousands of women just like you. So even though we’re not calling this a weight loss book, it definitely is a book that will help you release weight. What’s so unconventional about it is that it will tell you to stop dieting, to eat what you love, to ignore the numbers on the bathroom scale, and to change the way you think about controlling your weight. And, unlike most books about weight, we won’t be spending tons of time talking about what to eat. Instead, you’ll learn about balance, which will help you kick dieting and self-loathing to the curb.
