Throughout my life I did not have self-awareness when it came to my life and future. I never even thought about it before I took this class. When I typed in the word "self-awareness" into Google the definition of it was, conscious knowledge of one's own character, feelings, motives, and desires. Throughout On Course by Skip Downing and The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People by Stephen Covey, they talked about different strategies on how to improve self-awareness in your life and how to create success in one's life from these strategies. While I was doing the reading I could not help but agree with both Downing and Covey. I agree with Covey and Downing that self-awareness is a crucial strategy to create success in one's life because you …show more content…
I believe this can help you a lot in your future. I do believe that every person has had an experience with the three scripts: thought, emotion, and behavior. I agree with this strategy because it will make your life way more positive if you have positive scripts then negative ones. After I read this strategy I used it on myself. I tried all three of the patterns: thought, emotional and behavior patterns. I rewrote my thought script, I use to say that I was too busy when it came to my school work. But now I tell myself to do the assignments and then go do whatever I had to do. This has really helped me. My grades have really improved ever since I have done this. I rewrote my behavior script this year it also helped. I use to never go in for help when I did not understand material. But I started to go into my math teacher for help with the material for the test. I was feeling really good about the test and I took it and got a passing grade. I was really shocked that a little change could help me so much. Seeing all of these good results coming from just a little action, has really made me happy. The last script I rewrote was my emotional script. When I would pitch in baseball I would be really anxious. But I changed my script and calmed down a lot. It has really helped me. I have started pitching way better. So by changing my emotional, thought, and behavior script my life has been way more successful.
