Summary of Boy21
The book I read was called Boy 21. This book is about three high school seniors that love basketball. One of those people is Findly. Findly is the starting point guard and loves to play basketball and not just because his girlfriend’s Erin’s loves to. Findly is the type of kid that doesn't talk a lot because his mother died when he was young. Findly has been assigned by his basketball coach to look after and mentor a new kid. His name is Russ Washington. Findly doesn't really want to because Russ has the same number and plays the same position, but it's ok because Russ doesn't want to take Findly's spot because he really likes Findly. Coach wanted Findly to do this because he thinks Findly is a really nice kid but also they have a little bit in common. Russ's parents were both murdered like Findly’s mother. Coach was really good friends with Russ's father and went to college with him. That’s why he wanted Russ to come to school at Belmont High, but that’s not the only reason. Russ is wonderful at basketball. He is a national scouted player. Russ is six six, and has phenomenal muscle tone. He was made to play basketball, "so to speak." After the incident with Ruses parents, Russ thinks he is from outer space. He thinks he was sent here to learn about emotions from the earthlings. He always tells Findly to not feel bad because he is programed this way.
When Findly first brings Russ into Belmont, Russ thinks it is disgusting, because he came from a really rich part of town. There is trash everywhere and there are a lot of houses that are abandoned, because people have got evicted. Belmont is run by the Irish mob. Findly, Russ, and Erin don't have to worry about this because Erin's brother is in the mod and is a very large intimidating guy. When Erin first sees Russ, She thinks that he is kind of weird, everybody does. When the whole community finds out that Russ is a wonderful basketball player they don’t really care. Erin is on the girls’ basketball team and is the point guard. She was planning on moving out of Belmont with Findly and play college ball. Until she gets hit by a car and ends up in the hospital and out for the whole basketball season. Although this happens she still figures a way out of Belmont, she and Findly end up together in a sweet little town far away from Belmont, and Russ ends up becoming a professional basketball player and keeps in touch will Findly.
Overall this book was get. It had a great story line and would be good for anyone to read. Everyone should give this book a chance and let me know what you think about it.

Wil Planet Exercise

...What basic principles Wild Planet adheres to in their product development? Think about non-product benefits to the child and in the long term benefits to the Wild Planet which ensue. Wild Planet conducts Market Research for each of their products. It seems like they go through the whole marketing research process as explained in figure 4.1. They are addressing their customer needs by their value proposition, which is a combination of quality, service, and price. Their products enhance kids imagination, prompt them to be active. They design toys that kids find cool, and at the same time parents can afford and would want to buy for their kids, so they are taking care of both sets of customers, parents and kids. They do ethnographic research, watch kids in their play environment. They are also involving kids in the product development, by the Kid Inventer Challenge Program. They take opinion of kids about what kind of toys they want and they also test their newest toy ideas on the kids to get direct feedback from them. They are getting information from primary data source, which is more time consuming and expensive, but it is definitely paying off for their company, as they develop a relationship with the consumers. Specifically how does wild planet involve the children in their marketing process, what type of research is/are being employed? Wild Planet is involving kids at every step of their marketing process. Their consumer is “kids”. They are using marketplace and marketspace...

The Sweet Trials

...A supreme couryt case is going to change the way our government acts. Nine justices on the supreme court – always a swing vote. The supreme court does not take every case it gets – to chooses its cases. They look for cases that will change the way for the way this country will work. Marbury v. Madison = a case of judicial review. What that means is that the Supreme Court will take a case on appeal and they will make a two part decision. (1) what the lawsuit was about (2) what was the law itself (what law did the case rest upon). A case of judicial review – the first case of judicial review. It will result in the supreme court gaining a lot of power. Begins on the night befgore Jefferson takes office as president – so adams is still president -= he gives up the office the next day at noon before Jefferson is sworn in. (adams was a federalist – Jefferson was republican) – the polictican strength is now in the hands of the republicans. He will make an attempt to make the judiciary form of the government and make it very federalist. He comes up with the Midnight Appointment. He signs federal individuals a judgeship or a justice of the peace – he is packing the court with his own people. It is powerful so if you can fill it with people who think like you you can influence it. His secretary of state, John Marshall – in those days it was his job to make sure that everyone got tier appointments delivered while the president is still president. In those days...

Messa V. Sullivan Court of Appeals, 1965. 61 Ill.App.2d 386, 209 N.E.2d 872

...Handout #2 Brief Training Materials for Fall 2012 Messa v. Sullivan Court of Appeals, 1965. 61 Ill.App.2d 386, 209 N.E.2d 872. BURMAN, PRESIDING JUSTICE. Betty Messa brought this action against James Sullivan, Helen Sullivan and the Keyman's Club, an Illinois not for profit corporation, to recover damages for the bodily injuries which she sustained as the result of being bitten by the defendants' dog. The complaint was based on two theories: first, a common law action for the keeping of a vicious animal and, second, an action based on what is commonly known as the "Dog Bite Statute" (Ill.Rev.Stat.l963, ch. 8, § 12d). The parties waived a jury and the case was tried by the court. On the common law count, the trial court held for the defendants because he found that the plaintiff was contributorily negligent. No appeal has been taken from the judgment entered on that issue. On the statutory count, however, the court concluded that the plaintiff should recover and therefore he entered judgment awarding the plaintiff damages only against James Sullivan and the Keyman's Club in the amount of $3,000. From this judgment these two defendants appeal. They contend that the plaintiff failed to prove, as she was required to prove in order to recover under the statute, that she was lawfully on the defendants' premises and that she did not provoke the dog to attack. Alternatively the defendants contend that...

The Last Leaf

...A Clockwork Orange (UK Version) Anthony Burgess Introduction A Clockwork Orange I first published the novella A Clockwork Orange in 1962, which ought to be far enough in the past for it to be erased from the world's literary memory. It refuses to be erased, however, and for this the film version of the book made by Stanley Kubrick may be held chiefly responsible. I should myself be glad to disown it for various reasons, but this is not permitted. I receive mail from students who try to write theses about it or requests from Japanese dramaturges to turn It into a sort of Noh play. It seems likely to survive, while other works of mine that I value more bite the dust. This is not an unusual experience for an artist. Rachmaninoff used to groan because he was known mainly for a Prelude in C Sharp Minor which he wrote as a boy, while the works of his maturity never got into the programmes. Kids cut their pianistic teeth on a Minuet in G which Beethoven composed only so that he could detest it. I have to go on living with A Clockwork Orange, and this means I have a sort of authorial duty to it. I have a very special duty to it in the United States, and I had better now explain what this duty is. Let me put the situation baldly. A Clockwork Orange has never been published entire in America. The book I wrote is divided into three sections of seven chapters each. Take out your pocket calculator and you will find that these add up to a total of twenty-one chapters. 21 is the symbol...
