March 10,2013 The most important person in my life.
.
From the time we are born we are being influenced by those around us, be it a relative, friend, or teacher. We are influenced by their character, traits and form opinions that will last a lifetime. Although influential people have come and gone in my life, my boyfriend, Daniel, has remained the most important and influential person for the past fifteen years. It was in November 2000 when I first met Daniel at the “Stratford Athletic Club.” I attended the club almost every day. One evening a tall gentleman with an athletic body approached me and with a soft-spoken voice proceeded to ask,” How is your workout going?” I turned towards him, looked at his amicable face, and with a barely detectable smile said, “Fine, thank you.” This was the beginning of a most satisfying, educational and enduring relationship. Right after I met him I noticed his amazing organization skills. He is able to stay focused no matter how distracting the situation might be. He simply minimizes the distraction. For example, if he is focusing his attention on writing an important paper, he will ignore the phone when it’s ringing, and will not answer the doorbell. I always had a problem with focusing. Since I started to spend time with Daniel I learn to remained focused on my goals and not to be affected by any adverse elements. Years ago while driving in the center lane of a busy highway I was distracted by a very rude driver who was beeping his horn for me to change lanes. This continued for about half a minute. Fortunately, I looked over my left and right shoulder and saw two fast approaching cars behind me. It was only because I remained attentive to all nearby traffic that I remained safe. He is a great listener and never interrupts when someone is

...Values those are most important to me. Values are something that is important in life. Values can’t be exchanged in any way or form. Everyone has something that they value and of course that includes me as well. A value is something that a specific person or groups respects and affectively regards it as something important in their life. An example would be my values, I, personally, have many values. Some of my most important values consist of my family, my ethnicity and my memories. Something that I value the most would be my family. Family means a lot for me because no matter what happens, my family would always be there for me. Life would be really different if I didn’t have the family that I have now. In my family, I am taught that no matter what difficulties I have to face, my family would always be there and support me. They taught me many things about life that I would take with me for the rest of my life. No matter how many good friends you have, they will never be there for you forever, but family will always be there for you. Not everyone has a perfect family; therefore, I must appreciate what I have now because not everyone is as lucky as me to have a family that cares for each other through out all the different circumstances. Another very important value of mine would be my ethnicity. Ethnicity is very important for it describes me. Due to the fact that I am born Asian American, I was brought up to what I am today. Under this situation, if I don't go to eat, she definitely would walk to me with a Chinese shovel and drag me to the dining table. This is my grandma, a normal housewife. Important Person in My Life

...An important person in your life Everybody has an important person in their life who can motivate, share moment and be there for them when they needed. I think the most important person in the life of everyone is the member of his family. The simple word “family” can conjure up many meanings, images and emotions. They could be warm and pleasant, at the same time they can be sad and dismal. But for most, the word “family” is one of the greatest words in the world, it brings a lot of unforgettable and joyful memories about their childhood and past, enormous number of happy and funny moments, and of course it brings the picture of your family members, whom you truly love, who really mean a lot for you and who are the most influential and important people in your life. Your family members simply cared about you when you were sick even if it meant staying up all the night just to make sure your fever stayed down. There were also times when they let you make your own choices and allowed you to suffer the consequences it brings if you made a bad decision. Sometimes they pushed you in certain directions and had high expectations for you. Your family is not only people that you biologically related to and those who will love you unconditionally, but they are your first friends, whom you can trust and always count on when you need them. Family members have the biggest influence on you, through their love, discipline, encouragement and living. One of the important persons in the life...

Self Reflection

...happy. The person I am today is influenced on different values and the different experiences that I have encountered while growing up to be a good role model, an elder sister and a good friend. Growing up as a child in my family was tough being the fact that I am the only girl with three younger brothers that look up to me so the influence from childhood was really tough and one of the greatest impact in who I am today. My relationships with my parent as a childhood was pretty normal, I look up to my dad while I was growing up because his hardworking and his the breadwinner of the family and from things he has told me while I was growing up was that he had to support his family at an early stage because he lost his father and he had to help out and he also had to drop out of school so his siblings good have a good education, that’s a huge sacrifice he made at an early stage and that makes me proud of him and that motivates me to want to be a better person and still molds me to who I am I today and who I would want to be in the future. My mum on the other hand taught me to be forgiven, to always look for the best in people and never think of people’s past but the bright side, and she also taught me to give people second chances because regardless of where they might have gone wrong they still deserved a second chance because we are human’s and we all make mistakes. Family values are everything to me, I believe it’s good to honor those values because family is very important to me...

Looks vs Academic Qualification

...centre company. Both of them were well dressed up and did everything they could to give a best presentation in the interview board in front of the officials. Of the two friends one had a very good CGPA and the other was ranked average. The one with good CGPA also had little previous experience in the related kind of jobs but the other friend was a novice. So, taking the best preparation for the interview both the friends faced the interview board. Both of them did well in the interview. But when the results were out, the novice friend with an average CGPA got the job but the other friend did not did not get the job. Here I want to raise my point “looks” does it really matter in professional life? Now from the above story line if any one comes to the conclusion that good looks get more priority than academic qualifications in professional life, he or she is just coming to the conclusion in a superficial manner. On the other hand you can’t also assume that success only depends on academic qualification because it is a very controversial topic and many believe that success never depends upon only good grades. There point of view is that if success and opportunities were measured by grades then the corporate world would not ask for bio-data in resumes, where other qualifications are also mentioned. Nor would they interview the prospects in order to find out what they are like as people, rather they would give a blind appointment to the people with the best paper qualifications....

Failure In College Essay

...success. Most people have the connotation that the concept of failure is bad or a sign of weakness however, I believe that abundance of adversity can cause a person great strength. It’s how a person address a situation, which results in lack of success. A person either learns from a setback and education themselves on how to better the outcome or do nothing, and in result face failure. I had an experience last year of failure, I had failed three of my college classes, and that impact on how I failed, the way others seen me, the way I felt, and what had learned taught me a valuable lesson. In the beginning of my junior year, I had the opportunity to take college courses. At first I was not bothered by the idea of taking on a harder task, however balancing my education and extra-curricular activities comes as a hardship to me. As I took three college courses, participating in band as a Dancer, and also being a junior in high school, my time management skills were at default. In result, I failed my three...

What Is Personality?

...What is Personality? As we all know everybody's heard the term personality, and most of us can describe our own or our friend's personality. What most don't know, however, is that personality is one of the most theorized and most researched aspects of psychology. Almost everyday we describe and assess the personalities of the people around us. Whether we realize it or not, these daily musings on how and why people behave as they do are similar to what personality psychologists do. Personality concerns the most important, most noticeable parts of an individual's psychological life. Personality concerns whether a person is happy or sad, energetic or apathetic, smart or dull. Over the years, many different definitions have been proposed for personality. Most of the definitions refer to a mental system -- a collection of psychological parts including motives, emotions, and thoughts. The definitions vary a bit as to what those parts might be, but they come down to the idea that personality involves a pattern or global operation of mental systems. Here are some definitions: "Personality is the entire mental organization of a human being at any stage of his development. It embraces every phase of human character: intellect, temperament, skill, morality, and every attitude that has beeen built up in the course of one's life." (Warren & Carmichael, 1930, p. 333) "An individual's pattern of psychological processes arising from motives, feelings, thoughts, and other major areas...

Values Reflection

...CJA/474 October 22, 2013 Marcus Gamble Values Reflection My core values are what I have determined of what I believe in. Some people never take the time to communicate what their values are. Once a person determines what, he or she believes in and what is important to him or her, his or her values are set in their lives. There are several ways that an individual can determine his or her core values. Here are some questions that some people ask themselves to determine their core values; What is important to me? What do I believe in? What are things I believe in that you would want to pass on to your children? What are the thing that I believe in that governs how I live my life? Within this paper I will make the attempt to identify my core values, as I describe how people acquire and change values. I will explain what values do for and to us. Finally in the conclusion, I will explain the nature and importance of human values in the workplace. The order of an individual’s values defines how he or she will recognize and how he or she will act; as a result that regulate your instant purpose. Everyone’s values changes over time, therefore his or her destiny changes over time. The summary of an individual’s sequence of callings controls his or her life voyage. The final or comparative static core value directs the endless journey the most. The more important a value is to you, the higher you will make it important to your lifestyle. An individual would be more discipline about...

(1 paragraph) In doing some more research on the Five Factor Model of Personality I came across the personality test. In reviewing this it shows that in Openness, which is a trait that suggests open-mindedness and interest in culture. A high score in this area means that people are sometimes curious, likes to be imaginative and creative and are more out to seek new experiences. Low scores suggest that they are less imaginative and not interested in any new experiences. For the Conscientiousness type of person, which is a trait that reflects the organization and persistence in pursuing their life goals, high scores tend to mean that the person is well organized, goal oriented and have faith in themselves. Low scores show that the person is unorganized, unreliable and very careless in what they do. For the Extraversion type of person, high scores in this area mean that they are...

The Human Experience Essay

...What it means to have free will Conor hughes Sept 26 2014 Hre 4u1 Ms.ples Being a human means you ae fully in control of your life path, because you have free will. The gift of free choice is very important because free choice is the reason humans are where we are today, which is a good and bad thing. Good because we have made a lot of progress over the years but bad because in making that progress we have cause a lot of destruction. In my opinion what makes someone who they are is two things, Physical appearance and personality. First what makes someones physical appearance is their genetics and second what makes someone’s personality is there surroundings and life experiences. Everyone is unique in their own way because everyone is born differently and experiences life differently. You can choose your identity because you have free will and your identity is based off your actions. My experience toward finding meaning in my life has been somewhat up and down so far and I don’t truly believe I will find my purpose until I have found my career but I could be wrong I may find my life purpose tomorrow. Some people may search for meaning in their friends or their grades or even inanimate objects like the kind of clothes they wear or the car they drive. Inaanimate objects are surprisingly a very popular way of searching for meaning, for example very few rappers talk about their morals in their songs, they talk about their amazing car or their ten thousand dollar watch....

It is however said that we begin to live when we begin to feel and with this, I can say my point of departure is where I started be conscious of my personality. When I started feeling and seeing things in a different perspective. It commenced on the day when nothing that made sense started making sense.
