Why I Think The Notebook is Worth Seeing

Never has a film swept me away into a story like The Notebook, and never have I found a truer romance. Author Nicholas Sparks based this movie on the relationship of his wife’s grandparents Noah and Allie. Sparks captures the true love on screen as both Noah and Allie experience potential danger, long periods of separation and no communication. That in itself should have been the end of the relationship. If not for their commitment, devotion and unwavering love this story would have not existed. The unwavering love that the actors are able to portray is simply remarkable. One of the unique illustrations Noah chose to ask Allie out, was when he willingly jumped onto a Ferris wheel while it was …show more content…
Because Allie never responded, Noah assumed she received the letters and chose not to continue with their relationship. Unfortunately, Noah had no idea that Allie’s mother intercepted the letters and hid them. For this, reason Sparks ‘direction to portray Allie’s mother as a villain and sway the audience in this belief is another excellent example of the author’s vision. Almost a decade has passed, and Noah decides to devote his time and money into reconstructing the home, they both once dreamed of owning. Noah began to build it exactly how Allie envisioned it, hoping that one day she would come back to him. Unfortunately, it was not to be, while she was working as a nurse Allie met someone else. He met all of Allie’s parents’ expectation’s and he seemed almost too good to be true. He, Lon, was however, a wonderful young man and the reason Allie had fallen in love with him. They were all going to meet that evening for dinner, so Lon could ask Allie’s to marry him with her parents’ in attendance. Although her parents’ seemed unaware of what was happening, they already knew ahead of time. Lon had already approached them both to ask for their permission to marry Allie. Although she had not thought about Noah for a while, she did at that very moment, the instant Lon proposed, and with a pause, she said yes. She did not hear from Noah or any information concerning him in

...___________________ Ray Bradbury used figurative language throughout his novel to create mental pictures or images in his readers’ minds. As a result, his prose often sounds much like poetry. Part One: On notebook paper, create your own chart of poetic prose from the novel. Use blue or black ink. Do not write on the back. Skip a line between each example. To avoid using my quotes, don’t use quotes from the first fourteen pages of the novel. On line A, write the page number and the quotation. On line B, write a paraphrase of the quote. FIND FOUR OF EACH TYPE OF FIGURATIVE LANGUAGE. Place the four similes on page one, the four metaphors on page two, and the four examples of personification on page three. Part Two: Choose one of your quotes and make a visual no larger than 9 X 12 expressing its meaning. Neatly write your quote on your visual. Do not put your visual on notebook paper. A SIMILE is a figure of speech in which like or as or similar words are used to make a comparison between two basically unlike ideas. “Alex is as bright as Jason” is a comparison, not a simile. “Alex is as bright as a light bulb” is a simile. A METAPHOR is a figure of speech in which one thing is spoken of as though it were something else. Unlike a simile, a metaphor implies a comparison between two basically unlike ideas. Example: Alexander is the sunshine of my day. PERSONIFICATION is a type of figurative language in which a nonhuman subject is given human characteristics,...

The first and foremost being the low price point for a notebook. I recommend a notebook over a desktop for a student because of its mobility. A student could take it to the library, to class, to study partners’ homes, coffee shops, etc. For the price a student would get all the necessary functionality out of it. The storage space is on the lower side. However 500GB is plenty of space to store Microsoft Office documents, including PowerPoint presentations, through the lifetime of his or her college career. Comparison and Contrast Between Ultrabooks and Tablets

...Comparison and Contrast between Ultrabooks and Tablets Thesis Statement Ultrabook PCs are superior to Tablet PCs based on comparison of market positioning, design concept, growth rate in sales and research and development of manufacturer. Introduction In modern time, computers have become an essential tool to assist people in dealing with their complicate lives and satisfying their fast footstep. To conveniently carry computers and efficiently use them in daily work, increasingly people pursue portability, utility and fashion. So Tablets and Ultrabooks are“born” at the right moment. In order to promote laptops, many manufacturers always campaign on the slogan "it is an Ultrabook" on the margins of Ultrabooks. So in 2011, Intel corporation conceived an Ultrabook and defined as “an Ultrabook ” is a mini notebook computer designed to provide similar or superior computing functionality as that of a standard laptop but with less size, weight and an extended battery life”. Now, the term has extended to refer to a new category of notebook computers that sits somewhere between lightweight laptops and Tablets. However, Tablets and Ultrabooks are obviously different. A Tablet computer, or simply Tablet, is a mobile computer with display, circuitry and battery in a single unit. We know that Tablets are often equipped with sensors, including cameras, microphones and touchscreens, and with finger or stylus gestures replacing computer mouse and keyboard. In this thesis, I will explain...

Macbook Pro

...ITS1015 Word Project The MacBook Pro The MacBook laptop is a very popular piece of technology in this generation due to its amazing features, widescreen display and resolution. The MacBook Pro is known for its multi-touch technology, super-sized screen display and it can be used for just about anything. There isn’t any comparison from any other notebooks today and I will be explaining why and what features the MacBook has in store. The Macbook laptop has been known for about ten years now. Equipped with an Intel Core 2 Duo processor this is enhanced virtualization and speed technology along with the OS X operating system. The MacBook gives you excellent features such as a webcam, 200MB of free space not to mention the 2GB of RAM already stored in the laptop, applications such as iChat, adobe Photoshop and of course the iPod. MacBook Pro notebooks are available in 15 and 17-inch models. The prices range from $1,999 for a 15 inch and up to 2,799 for a 17-inch. These prices are somewhat expensive but those who own them will tell you it’s worth spending. There is only one comparison with the MacBook and that is the Dell XPS. It does have most of the features compared to the Macbook including a 20-inch screen and it mainly designed for hardcore gamers. Ratings from shopping.com states that the Dell XPS is heavy, gets hot and is very large. And the MacBook definitely does not have any of those problems. In conclusion the MacBook Pro is definitely something I...

Adm Processor

...Abstract The AMD Fusion Family of Accelerated Processing Units (APUs), introduced to market in January 2011, is a new generation of processors that combines the computing processing unit (CPU) and graphics processing unit (GPU) capabilities in a single chip (die). APU-based platforms can deliver a prodigious amount of computational horsepower, and can present enormous opportunities in developing an application ecosystem beyond today’s mainstream computer systems. While APUs seek to deliver a superior, immersive PC experience, they also can provide tangible environmental benefits. By eliminating a chip to chip link and by introducing new holistic power management techniques, the APUs are designed to be more power efficient than current generation platforms that have both computational and graphical capabilities. This paper compares the environmental impact of one of AMD’s first APU products against an equivalent computer platform powered by the current generation of AMD processors (CPUs and GPUs). By conducting a business to consumer (B2C) lifecycle assessment, this study compares the total lifecycle greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions (also known as a “carbon footprint”) of an APU system (based on the 18W dual-core processor codenamed “Zacate” and the M1 chipset codenamed “Hudson”) with the latest AMD system codenamed “Nile” (which is based on an AMD Athlon™ Neo II Dual Core processor, SB820 Southbridge, RS880M Northbridge with an ATI Mobility Radeon™ HD 5430 discrete graphics...
