The new immigration policy of the Bahamas

What’s an immigrant? An Immigrant is a person who seek to find refuge into a country to which they are not native in order to settle there, especially as a permanent resident or future citizens. Citizenship is the key for freedom for some and a disadvantage for others. Citizenship in the Bahamas is becoming very difficult to get because of the illegal aliens entering the country. The government has set laws making it difficult for foreigners to have rightful citizenship because of the various common situation we’re facing today such as diseases the rise of crime rate and the increasing population by the day. for these reasons I do agree with the new immigration policy, In the Bahamas today we are facing various issues but, more of illegal immigrants coming into the country. The Immigration Department of the Bahamas has reinforce new laws. rules and regulations for the country's safety, As of last year 1st November 2014 the new policy was put in place by the immigration minister Fred Mitchell.uiy When entering the country illegally you must present a legal document such as a passport of your nationality or a Bahamian residency permit. The Immigration Act stipulates that anyone landing in the Bahamas illegally is guilty of an offence and liable on conviction to a fine or imprisonment, after which they may be deported. But these days, those arrested during immigration roundups do not seem to go through any court process. Fairness is the state, condition, or quality of being fair, or free from bias or injustice. In which way can we show illegal immigrants fairness? Well from my perspective I believe that an immigrant who have over stayed their welcome for 10 to 20 years with documents and a job should be given citizenship, but! I don’t feel that legal immigrants should be give license to owning a business or legal rights to vote. Why? In this matter we as a nation must stand as one to protect our country from anything we feel is not right. Allowing them to stay was fair enough if they abide by the law of the land, but for someone not of this culture to come in and make a statement in our nation is not fair to our land. I also feel that fairness should be given to the citizens of the country to those who are capable to work and get business permits. Citizens tend to seek answers to why immigrants are welcome to stay as legal immigrants and be given jobs when it’s hard for them to find their way in their own country. However, the Bahamian government gives consideration to citizenship, permanent residency and work permits for non-Bahamians, provided they comply with the immigration laws and government policies. In regards to their immigration policy the Bahamas government immigration policy is basically nationalistic.

Jobs:
The Bahamas welcomes millions of visitors and serves as host to numerous international investors each year, but if you wish to work here it is somewhat more difficult. “Necessary work permits for key personnel will be granted. Businesses requiring permits for persons other than key personnel are encouraged to discuss these requests with The Bahamas INVESTMENT Authority in advance.” Back in October 2003 it was said that and I quote “…the Department of Immigration also announced that persons doing work for which they were not authorized will also be prosecuted, in addition to persons found in possession of neither work nor residency permits.” This rule is stating that no foreign immigrant may be offered a job that a skilled Bahamian is ‘qualified’ to do.Basically any job that does not require a higher education is out of limits to foreigners (such as a bartender, housekeeper, etc.) Jobs which most Bahamians think they are too good for are easy to get (such as farm worker or gardener which is happily taken by a Haitian immigrants). In this case weather an open position by any employer that has job vacancies must first advertise them locally and is unsuccessful in finding a Bahamian personnel for the position then they will have to apply to the Department of Immigration for permission to recruit foreigners, but then again to be on the safe side the foreigner which was hired will then be asked to present the necessary document to show his/her ‘qualifications’ such as a college degree. This is only fair to the citizens of the country and both parties. Most likely these foreigners were given more than fairness, meaning that illegal children are able to attend government schools for a short period of time in order for them to get straight with legal documents

...Your boss is making 7 million dollars per year and driving a luxury car. You, on the other hand, are working hard every day for free and living in poverty. Sure, you have a free place to live with meals and education included, but you have no extra money for other necessities. You did not save enough money in high school and your family does not have money to give you. You are a college athlete. Athletic boosters tempt the athletes with illegal benefits because most do not have money for their own use. The NCAA makes millions of dollars off a college athlete’s performance. The NCAA is a not-for-profit agency that does not operate like one. If college athletes received a yearly stipend from the NCAA, then they might not be lured to take illegal benefits and would have spending money to enjoy the college life experience and pay for needed college items, such as a computer or supplies. For those reasons, college athletes should be paid by the NCAA for the services they provide to their schools. Critics against student athletes being paid believe in the benefits of the athletic scholarship. However, past athletes received improper benefits, financial and otherwise. Reggie Bush accepted improper benefits when he played football for University of Sothern California. According to the article, “Paying College Athletes,” “…current NFL star Reggie Bush-had violated its amateurism rules when his family moved into an expensive home owned by a local businessman...

...In the Bible, Christ’s resurrection is explored after his death, leading into resurrection. Events that lead to his demise lead to his return in the real world, bringing a new and insightful light to the story. The significance of Christ being able to self-resurrect back into the world is because he’s the only one to ever do it, and do it successfully, whereas other Gods don’t have the ability to do so. To further explain, according to the Bible, Christ is the only deity but self identified man to essentially do this. Considering his abilities is through God, and God wanted reveal to man proof of his power through Jesus, without directly showing it to them like many times prior, by raising Jesus from the dead. To emphasize this, “because He has appointed a day on which, He will judge the world in righteousness by the Man whom He has ordained. He has given assurance of this to all by raising Him from the dead.” Christ had mentioned several times that his death and resurrection would be the one thing to give to the sinful and unbelieving world God made for them. Such as, “An evil and adulterous generation seeks after a sign, and no sign will be given to it except the sign of the prophet Jonah. For as Jonah was three days and three nights in the belly of the great fish, so will the Son of Man be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth.” Further explaining that he knew he would be able to come back with ease. Foreknowing one’s own death is common in most Mythologies...

There Is Only One "Race"

...TOM 1 ! TOM Professor Lewis English Writing 482 12 March 2011 There is Only One “Race” Exordium Despite thinking I had unconditional love two or three times with women who are now ex girlfriends, it is only with family that I have truly found it. Few things, if anything, have more meaning and value than family, and no one should have to do without the tremendous love, special bond, and support a family can provide. Yet there are so many children in need of good families. A People magazine cover from earlier this year clearly hit a nerve with some as it showed the award-winning actress and recent transracial adopter Sandra Bullock lovingly embracing her newly adopted black infant son (see fig. 1). Madonna also came under fire when she decided to adopt a Malawi baby boy in 2006 (see fig. 2). Dr. Christina Villarreal—a practicing psychotherapist and ex-teacher at Argosy University who is an expert in culturally diverse populations and a contributor to the Department of Public Health—states that in the United States, the Fig. 1 Not everyone looked as happy as Sandra Bullock while holding her baby, Louis Bardo, because of their contrasting views of transracial adoption. majority of hopeful adoptive parents are white, yet half the adoptable children are black. You Only Get One

...Tatayana Greene Create Real Impact Contest Essay You Only Get One Summer 2014 in Cleveland, Ohio. My considered-second family, The Morrings, had came to get me in the early afternoon to go on a 2-3 hour drive to get my sister Terraé her new puppy to cure the mourning for her recently lost one. I climbed into the third section of the run down 2014 jet black Tahoe, Ms.Morring in the driver seat, family friend Tanisha in the passenger, Tanisha’s daughter and our friend Darius in the second section, and me and Terraé in the third. The car ride was full of laughter and sing-a-longs with plenty of freeway until we finally got off, although we still had plenty of ground to cover. There was farm after farm, cow after cow and so many different roadside stands selling either fruits, vegetables or pies. It was obvious we were in the countryside part of Ohio by now. We even passed by an outside go-kart place that we all started making plans to come back to before the summer was over. It still took about thirty minutes to get to the house where the woman we were getting the puppy from lived, but once pulling up in the driveway and opening the door, we were bumrushed with the tiniest puppies and kittens any of us had laid our eyes on. We were greeted by a short, Caucasian lady named Amber, who told us that Terraé could pick whatever puppy her heart desired. After about five minutes of looking around, she made a connection with Bubbles, the runt of a litter of Yorkie Terriers...

Justin: One Night Only

...One Night With Justin January 17, 2007 is a night I will remember forever. It is the night my dreams became a reality for one night and one night only. On this day at 7:30P.M., at the Save-Mart Center in Fresno, California, I saw the man of my dream, My Love, Justin Timberlake. What made this night even better was the fact that I was about 20 feet from the stage. I had floor seats to the most amazing concert ever. My roommate and I were in heaven. Justin came to Fresno on his FutureSex/LoveSounds tour. Joining him on tour was female singer Pink, who was the opening act, and producer and rapper Timbaland, who joined Justin on stage for a new numbers, including a monologue of his own. Pink opened up the show at the stroke of 7:30. She came out in a denim tank top and denim pleaded skirt. She got the party started. Her performance was energetic and amazing. She even performed an acrobatic routine in the air. At around 9:00P.M., the teasing began. The band members slowly made their way to the stage and they began to play a little interlude. The arena, already lively, began screaming their heads off, crying, shaking, jumping up and down, and anticipating the moment when the most amazing man in the world would reveal himself. The first song started up. It was the title track FutureSex/LoveSounds. Justin emerged from the center of the stage, dressed in a black suit, with a white guitar around his neck. Silk screens were surrounding the entire round stage. The stage...

...Bob Dole was born on July 22, 1923 in Russell, Kansas, the son of Bina M. (née Talbott; 1904–1983) and Doran Ray Dole (1901–1975).[4] Bob Dole's father, who had moved the family to Russell while Dole was still a toddler, earned money by running a small creamery. One of his father's customers was the father of future Senator Arlen Specter. As a boy, Dole worked as a soda jerk in the local drug store. Dole graduated from Russell High School in the spring of 1941[6] and enrolled at the University of Kansas the following fall. Dole had been a star high school athlete in Russell, and influential Kansas basketball coach Phog Allen traveled to Russell to recruit him to play for the basketball team. While at KU, Dole played for the basketball team, the track team, and the football team. In football, Dole played at the end position, earning varsity letters in 1942 and 1944. While in college, he joined the Kappa Sigma Fraternity, and in 1970 was bestowed with the Fraternity's "Man of the Year" honor.[7] Dole's pre-med studies at KU were interrupted by World War II. After the war, he returned to become a law student. Dole attended the University of Arizona from 1948 to 1951 and earned both his LLB and BA degrees from Washburn University in 1952. Only One God (German Case Studey)

Comparison Between Rust and Vreugd and One and Only Cape Town

...factors lead to this development and change of “city houses”. It is essential to first look at the characteristics of a suburban house and a penthouse to see what the differences are between these two homes, including references to the examples. Rust and Vreugd is an old house in the City of Cape Town built in 1771.(fig 1.1) It is a great example of VOC architecture and is a monument and museum open to the public today. Done by architect Anton Anreith, it includes characteristics of the Cape Dutch style. It is symmetrical, has a stoep, voorkamer and achterkamer but has some features only found later in Cape Town. It is evident that towards the end of the 18th century the flat roofed type of house was generally employed in the town, whilst the thatched and gabled roof was commonly used in the suburban and country houses. The town houses were mostly two storeys while those in the country were one storey. It was designed on a grand scale and is larger than the average townhouse of its time. Its most distinctive features includes a highly ornamented classical façade, a stoep with an overhanging balcony supported on four massive fluted teak columns with Corinthian capitals, and large cellars located beneath its teak floors. The front doors are surmounted by a decorative fanlight. (Fig 1.2) Rust and Vreugd Figure 1.1 Figure 1.2 Figure...

Choosing Appropriate Glasses and Athermalizing a Lens System with Only One Metal

...Choosing appropriate glasses and athermalizing a lens system with only one metal by James Wu, jamesw@optics.arizona.edu, ywuumme99@excite.com Figure 1 shows a typical opto-mechanical design for athermalizing a lens system using two metals with dissimilar CTE’s. However, with the vast numbers of glasses to choose from, an athermal technique using only one metal as the metering structure is presented. A look-up table is provided for choosing the glass combinations that yield βlens = αmetal. Introduction In designing a lens system, it is common to start with a known design form and to use familiar glass types. After the optical design evolves to a mature stage, then the mechanical structures are “wrapped around” the prescribed optics. Different opto-mechanical athermal techniques have been developed for this serial approach. However, the mechanical design is strongly influenced by the near-finished lens prescription. For example, Figure 1 shows the opto-mechanical designs suitable for athermalizing some already prescribed lens systems. In order to maintain focus over some temperature fluctuations, two structural materials with dissimilar CTE’s and lengths are chosen to match the change in the focal length. The complexity in this opto-mechanical design adds volume, different materials, additional parts, handling, and assembling to the overall optical system.
