The Reasons Why I Don’t Sleep

Why don’t I sleep? It’s a question I’ve been asking myself for a while now. I’m sure there are many reasons why, but here are 3 enormous reasons of why I think I don’t sleep at night.

I have a lot of bad habits in my life but I think the worst ones I have are before I fall asleep at night. I used to be able to sleep well at night that changed after I started listening to music right before I fell asleep. I think that since I listened to violent music before I went to bed every night it really disrupted my sleep schedule. I remember one night where I was listening to music on my iPod before I went to bed. I had to get really early in the morning, around 4am to go to the gym with my trainer to work out. I remember listening to heavy metal before I tucked in for the night. Little did I know how much it was going to affect my sleep patterns and myself. I finally went to bed around 11 30pm, the whole night I was tossing and turning in my sleep. When I finally woke up around 4am to work out I felt horrible because I didn’t get enough sleep. Listening to music before I go to bed is a really terrible habit that I have and it’s really hard to break. After a while you get used to it and its almost like second nature to listen to music before you fall asleep at night. It can really disrupt how you wake up in the morning as well. I remember one time where I had to wake up early in the morning to go take a test. Since I had been listening to music the whole night it really threw me off in the morning when I had to wake up early. I took the test and thought I did pretty well on it. I got my results back and I ended up getting about a 65 percent on it. I guess I learned my lesson on that one.

Another issue that I have at night before I go to bed is having a lot on my mind before I fall asleep. I tend to overthink things a lot and I always stress myself out. However this only happens to me during the nighttime before and after I fall asleep for some reason. I believe this is the main reason why I do not get enough sleep a lot. This happens to me all the time. When I overthink things I get stressed out easily and that causes me not to sleep. When I don’t get enough sleep I become a very grumpy and angry person. When I’m a grumpy and angry person, people don’t want to be around me. It’s a cycle in my life that is always stuck on the repeat button and it wears me down after a while. Sometimes I get nightmares when I’m sleeping because I have way too much on my mind. It’s defiantly a habit that I should start trying to break soon. There are times when I sometimes just snap on people when I start over thinking. I remember once when I was spending time with my friend Sydney and she said something that irritated me and I went off and yelled at her because I was stressed out about everything in my life at that point.

A final cause and yet another bad habit I have is texting all of my friends on my phone before I fall asleep. Usually I always stay up late to finish multiple conversations with all of my friends. Most of the time I go to sleep with a smile on my face. Sometimes but not often I go to sleep extremely worried about something. I remember a time when I was texting my friend Emily about something important and we kept on talking from 11 30pm to 1am in the morning. Afterwards I went to bed worried because Emily seemed upset over what we had talked about. Texting always keeps me up at night and I think is a huge cause of why I don’t get that much sleep nowadays. This might explain why I can never get up on time in the morning and why I never do that well on tests in school.

All in all, texting, music, and having a lot on my mind are huge causes of why I don’t sleep. They are bad habits that I need to start breaking soon if I want to catch up on my beauty sleep.

Social Work

...*I may be sorry for a lot of things that i've done in my life, but I'll never be sorry for the time I spent on you. ~Grawers Girl How lucky I am to have known someone who was so hard to say goodbye to. Maybe some people just arent meant to be in our lives forever. Maybe some people are just passing through. Its like some people just come through our lives to bring us something: a gift, a blessing, a lesson we need to learn, and thats why theyre here... youll have that gift forever. - The Gift Sometimes the hardest things to say are the things that really matter Ive said what I needed to say, Ive done what I needed to do, now whatever happens to us, I guess Ill leave it up to you. I cant honestly say that I loved youat least not in that way. But I can tell you I know I could have, if you had given me the time to. I didnt say I love you to hear it back, I just wanted to tell you. I was lost. There was nobody for me to talk about everything that was troubling me. So I sat alone, with everything inside, and cried myself to sleep. never knew until that moment, what it was like to lose something I never really had. ~The Wonder Years Sometimes you just have to hold your head up high, blink away the tears and say good-bye" it's absurd, who you love and why, and how you can't turn it off when you desperately want to i wish that i was as invisible as you make me feel I've never understood the reasoning for someone to "move on" from a relationship. Portal to Lucid Dreaming

...baffled by your dreams? Do you wake up with fragments of a dream fresh in your mind and wonder : why was it so real ? well, you are not alone. Sleep scientist wonder the same thing. The sci-fi adventure hit movie,INCEPTION has sparked massive new interest in the concept of lucid dreaming. Lucidity means becoming conscious and self-aware in your dreams, turning the dreamscape into a vivid virtual reality where everything you see, hear, feel, taste and even smell will be just as authentic real life. Tibetan monks have used dream control for more than a thousand years in a philosophy called Dream Yoga. However the modern term ‘lucid dreaming’ was not coined until the 20th century by the Dutch psychiatrist Frederik Van Eeden, meaning ‘mental clarity in dreams’ . The concept of lucid dreams were popularized by Celia Green in the 1960 s. She was the first to point out the link that false awakenings make way to lucid dreams. False awakenings are essentially ultra vivid dreams in which you are convinced you have woken up in physical reality. Yet many such awakenings go unrecognized assumed to be waking reality as they involve things one does everyday on autopilot such as getting up, having breakfast, getting dressed and heading out for work. It thus reveals the remarkable capacity of the human brain to emulate reality. But in normal dreams our self-awareness is shut down. That’s why we often feel fuzzy and distant. Lucidity occurs during altered states of consciousness when you...

How Does Shakespeare Present Death In Hamlet

...His pent up emotions lead to his famous soliloquy. In the first line of the speech, he asks “to be or not to be”. To live or to die is the question. It's a taboo question that we all think about but are too afraid to talk about. For some, death is seen as a scary notion as you embark into the unknown. We all wonder and dont get answers about death. It is an undiscovered country with no visitors that have returned. We hold onto faith that there will a place for us to go to relieve us from our worries about it. While for others, death is a release from a world full of pain. A world in which there is mistreat of good people, rudeness from others, abuse of power from superiors, and murders that go free. Hamlet questions why is it nobler to stay and put up with pain than to release yourself from it? It is nobler because life is about overcoming the pain and seeing to the other side of it. Sometimes God puts challenges in our way to make us into stronger people. Although it seems at times that suicide is a release from all pain it isn't. Hamlet is at the crossroads of temptation. Hamlet speaks of death as a sweet notion as if he is not afraid of it like...

Reading Attitudes

...many students have negative attitudes in regards to reading. In addition to their negative attitude, today’s student also has a plethora of other activities available for them to do rather than pick up a good book. As we continue to grow as a society in our educational and work endeavors, students now more than ever, need to change their attitude in regards to reading. This paper outlines the trends and attitudes of fifteen ninth grade students in rural West Virginia. Why Attitudes? The word attitude can be defined in a number of different ways and everyone has an attitude towards most things in their life, including reading. Alexander and Filler (1976) proposed a definition for read-specific attitudes. Their definition stated that a reading attitude is a system of feelings related to reading which causes the learner to approach or avoid a reading situation (Alexander & Filler, 1976; Verhoeven & Snow, 2001). It is important to understand the attitudes students have towards reading for two major reasons. One, attitude can affect the level of reading ability that a student eventually achieves. One’s attitude can have an influence on the amount of practice a student puts into reading as well as the effort they put into their practice. The other factor is how one’s attitude can effect if they choose to read or not. Even students we are fluent readers but have poor attitudes will choose to do something else rather than read if they have the option. This choice is now known...

5 Point Someone

...http://allebooks4free.com http://allebooks4free.com http://allebooks4free.com Five Point Someone : Chapter 2 Chapter- 24 Neha the name would not allow me to sleep nights. True, my engineering degree was in the dumps. True we probably pointlessly slaved in Prof. Veera’s lab mixing one type of with another all day. True, I may get expletives in my grade sheet that would prevent me from getting a decent job. However none of these bothered me enough to cause insomnia. In fact, the four months off were great to catch up on sleep. But the one person whose voice, smell, image, feelings, crept up next to me at night and made sleep impossible was Neha. I tried calling her on the eleventh . She hung up in two minutes, telling me she never expected me to be like this. I guess for someone she called a loafer, she had pretty high expectations. I had called her right back, trying to explain in vain how the whole idea was not mine, and it was stupid of me to fall for it. “ You used me Hari. Like all men you used me”, she said. Like all men? How many men had she been with anyway, I thought. What has she...

Explanation: Why "Dutch" is used in this way is not completely confirmed.  One reason is because of Dutch doors that contained two equal parts.  Another reason was due to the rivalry between the English and Dutch in the 17th century. Science Meets Real Life: Unit 10 Final Project

...understatement if you were to ask me! But what most individuals dont realize is that life and science go hand and hand. We use reasoning to denote certain things about people or places. We even use the scientific method to solve everyday problems without even realizing it. Take a look at two of my life scenarios and see how I applied the scientific method to each of these problems and came up with my solution. After that we will take a ride and see why I cannot live with or without science. So hold this should be an interesting journey. As I started my entrance into my home one night after getting off late to find that the light to the front room would not come on. I asked myself two questions; why did the light not come on and what could be wrong with it? Here is where we use the scientific method in our lives without even giving it a second thought. After I asked those two questions I had to do some research and come up with a few good reasons or in science terms (construct a hypothesis) as to why the light did not come on. After careful consideration I came up with two hypotheses that needed to be tested. My first hypothesis was to check the light bulb to see if it needed to be change. After removing the light bulb and doing the infamous shake that we do to see if a bulb is still good I noted that it was bad so I proceed to change it. Once I changed the bulb I noticed that the light still would not come on. I had to go back to the beginning and try my other...
