...Rumination of Self Privileges/Advantages: I believe that my parents, family culture, and being a “military brat”, are advantages that have shaped me into the person I am today. My mom and dad are both very educated, open minded, and involved parents. Their personalities ties in with our family culture. Being the involved people they are; my parents always believed it was highly important to be physically and socially involved. They always made sure I attended summer camps in the summer, sports and clubs during the school year, and extracurricular activities over the weekends. This is an advantage, because it helped me to become comfortable when working with others. Not only is my family culture an advantage, but being a military family gives me an even bigger boost. Since, my family is a military family; we move around the country a lot. This caused me to easily adapt to different environments, and different people. These three advantages will contribute to my success, because it gave me my social savviness. According to The Trouble with Geniuses Part 2, parents being more involved with their children’s education and extracurricular teaches their children to be accustomed to their environment, the ability to communicate with adults making them less afraid of authority, and giving them a sense of “entitlement.” This relates to me, because my parents are involved with my life, and it caused me to be accustomed to any environment I endure. Disadvantages/Oppressions: I believe...

...RUNNING HEARD: Consideration Tamara Spencer Unit 2 Consideration PA130: Contracts Patrick Cleveland Consideration On February 13, 2008, Claire Dawn decides to sell Leonardo deCapo her 1965 Corvette Stingray. Dawn agrees within the contract to sell her vehicle for $25,995.00 plus all title transfer fees. A month later, deCapo response to the contract was a letter written on a napkin that reads “Dear Claire, I accept.” deCapo then mailed the acceptance letter to Dawn’s home in Beverly Hills, California. Even though deCapo mailed the acceptance letter to Dawn, she has yet to receive the acceptance of the offer (McGraw-Hill, 2008). OFFER There are two forms of a mutual legal agreement. There are bilateral contracts and there are unilateral contracts. A bilateral contract is when both parties exchange a promise for a promise. In the case of Dawn v. deCapo, parties formed a unilateral contract. Dawn exchanged a promise for an act to deCapo. In the case of Dawn and deCapo, Dawn was the offeror while de Capo is the offeree. In order for a contract to become binding, there only have to be an acceptance upon the offeree. An offeror is the person extending a proposal to form the contract. An offeree is the individual receiving the offer to form a contract (McGraw-Hill, 2008). ACCEPTANCE A suitable offer has four levels in order for an offer to be valid. In order for an offer to be of standard the parties has to come a meeting of the minds. If there is for some reason,...

...Healthcare Science Self-Study I will be researching and mastering the knowledge of medical terms and procedures in a burn unit rotation before I begin. Some terms include debridement, dermatone, skin graft, allograft, and silvadene cream. Debride is a removal of dead tissues destroyed by the burn injury, and is a procedure for many burn victims. Silvadene cream is an antibiotic ointment used on the burn wound to help fight infection for burn victims, and normally people allergic to sulfa drugs shouldn’t use this treatment. A skin graft is when a portion of your own skin is taken from an unburned area of your body and placed on a burned area, while an allograft is a dressing used to cover areas of the body that are burned. Diagnoses for burns...

...The regrettable but unavoidable incidences of the very many cancers affecting people in Ireland today is an area of medicine which harnesses, in union with pharmaceutical products, the skills of Specialist Consultant Oncologists at the very highest level. Bayer is an established link in this chain principally through the proven use of its product Nexavar, which is currently licensed for the treatment of kidney and liver cancers. It is anticipated however that Nexavar’s scope will be extended to include its use in further indications in Oncology subject to positive phase III clinical trial results. All of this theatre of activity, from the viewpoints of the medical practitioners, the regulatory agencies and the pharmaceutical companies, is necessarily driven by the continuum of verified product trial statistical endpoints. While the market for pharmaceutically assisted weight-loss products is both extensive and growing, it remains fundamentally different from cancer therapies in that overweight individuals have realistically much more discretion with regard to the decision as to what if anything to choose from within the wide menu of discretionary weight-loss products, while cancer sufferers firstly must attend specialist Oncology consultants whose diagnostic analysis will determine what if any Oncology treatment may be suitable and secondly, being a life-threatening condition, cancer requires immediate urgent non-discretionary specialist care. While Nexavar currently is licensed...

...generation I have come to the conclusion that technology development and life itself is always advancing due to an endless number of discoveries. The expansion of every new thing relies on intelligence and boundless curiosity of which science is leading ahead in, making these new discoveries possible. Studying biochemistry at university will give me a unique and rewarding opportunity to be a part of this development which is my principle desire. Studying triple science at GCSE, I was able to study all three sciences separately where I experimented and chose my favourite subjects. Contextualising theoretical lessons into practical lessons has been extremely enjoyable as I have the chance to see the things I learnt with my own eyes. I particularly enjoyed doing titrations during my laboratory lessons in chemistry. Discovering the book "Genome" by Matt Ridley resulted in questions in my head such as 'how is a simple chemical compound, DNA, so powerful'? How does chemistry allow the formation of complex molecules and help the heart beat? Being particularly attracted to my biology and chemistry lessons I realised that both subjects are the key facets that generate intelligence and development....

...Atom, Molecules and Elements Ions: an atom or group of atoms that has an electric charge. Isotopes: an atom with different numbers of neutrons in their nucleus. (These extra neutrons have NO EFFECT ON THE CHEMICAL PROPERTIES of the atoms but they do affect the weight of the atom.) Particle Location Weight Charge Proton Nucleus 1 amu Positive Neutron Nucleus 1 amu Neutral Electrons Electron Cloud 0 amu Negative Valence electrons: electrons in the outermost shell of an atom. Atomic Weight: the ratio of the average mass of atoms of an element (average weight of all the isotopes) (# of protons + # of electrons) Atomic Mass: the mass of a specific isotope Atomic number: the number of protons found in the nucleus of an atom Periods: In the periodic table, each horizontal row is called a period. The elements in each period have the same number of shells. Groups: Each vertical column is called a group. Each of the elements in the same group has the same number of valence electrons in their outer shells. Covalent Bond: atoms share the electrons. Ionic Bond: one atom wants to give away an extra electron(s) that it doesn’t need, and one atom wants more electrons to have a complete shell. The atom that gives away an electron becomes positive (*at first it was neutral, but since it gave an electron, which is negative, away, it became positive.), and the one that gains an electron becomes negative. They are held together like magnets (static-magnetic force). Important...

...LITERATURE & STUDIES This chapter presents the reviewed literature and studies, either local or foreign, which were discussed herein because of their relevance to the subject under consideration. Foreign Literature According to Palm Beach Community College (PBBC, 2008),they recommend that student’s study should have at least three hours out of class for every hour spent in class. They also said that a student must have a special place to study with plenty of room to work. And students should not be cramped. They presupposes that study time will go better if a learner take a few minutes at the start to straighten things up. A desk and straight-backed chair is usually best. “ Don't get too comfortable--a bed is a place to sleep, not to study” as what they said. A student must have everything close at hand(book, pencils, paper, coffee, dictionary, computer, calculator, tape recorder ,etc.) before starting to study. Students are not suggested to spend on time jumping up and down to get things. The PBCC suggests also that distracting noise should be minimized however they said that there are some people need sound and some like silence. In this case, a learner must finds what works for him or her. Culprits are family and friends. consider a "do not disturb" sign and turning on your answering machine is the way also to have better study habits according to the PBBC.. Frank Pogue(2000) did a research project to determine why students fail. What he founds to be true in that study habits...

...IGOROTS * Home * IGOROT SONGS * IGOROT DANCE * IGOROT TRADITIONS * MONEY ON THE MOUNTAIN IGOROT TRADITIONS IGOROT TRADITIONS When we talk about Igorot identity and culture, we also have to consider the time. My point is that: what I am going to share in this article concerning the Igorot culture might not be the same practiced by the Igorots of today. It has made variations by the passing of time, which is also normally happening to many other cultures, but the main core of respect and reverence to ancestors and to those who had just passed is still there. The Igorot culture that I like to share is about our practices and beliefs during the "time of Death". Death is part of the cycle of life. Igorots practice this part of life cycle with a great meaning and importance. Before the advent of Christianity in the Igorotlandia, the Igorots or the people of the Cordilleran region in the Philippines were animist or pagans. Our reverence or the importance of giving honor to our ancestors is a part of our daily activities. We consider our ancestors still to be with us, only that they exist in another world or dimension. Whenever we have some special feasts (e.g., occasions during death, wedding, family gathering, etc.), when we undertake something special (like going somewhere to look for a job or during thanksgiving), we perform some special offer. We call this "Menpalti/ Menkanyaw", an act of butchering and offering animals. During these times we call them...

...the USA: Regulations Keeping Jobs Overseas?” The reason behind this article was trying to bring as many jobs back to America as possible. Why would companies come back to America one it would cost them more money, second it will take longer to develop millions of products. Companies outsource to other countries because one their parts and labor is cheap and second they will get it done faster than the average Americans. These countries that we send them too China, Indonesia, Vietnam and etc.… are considered slavery country or in other terms third world countries. The reason labor is cheap over there is because of inflation and how other countries use their currency by keep producing more money which decrease their values. According, to studies third world countries that are lower class are less likely to be successful in their lives or the children lives. Like people say the richer get richer and the poor stay poor. Over the last four years the United States have brought back 100,000 jobs which is a huge deal in this country because that leave 100,000 less people to be unemployed. Also, one of our biggest manufacturing countries in the world “China” has been increasing their price every year. The have increased it about 18% each year...

...Establishing Good Study Habits Efficient Use of Time "I'm here to tell you what I think is a key to academic survival and success. The first and most important thing I feel, at least to survival and success in the classroom, is efficient use of your time outside the classroom. Remember, there are 24 hours in a day. Set aside two to three hours each day for studying. This will leave you with five to six hours -- after we subtract time for our classes, meals, and a good night's sleep -- to do those things that we like to do much more than studying. The next thing that I feel contributes to survival and success in the classroom is periodic review of your lecture notes and the appropriate chapters in your textbooks. Periodic review and beginning to study for your exams early will save you time in the long run and it will prevent cramming. That way you can be well rested and more motivated and less anxious on test day. The last thing you can do to help get good grades is take advantage of all the academic resources at your university. It can only help you." - By Dante Battles The Power of Cooperation "Education often looks like competition. We compete for interest in school, for grades when we're in school, and for jobs when we leave school. In such a climate it is easy to overlook the power of cooperation that is developed through study support groups. Study support groups feed you energy. People are social animals and we draw strength from groups. Aside from the comradery, the...
