The Three Idiots

1. How does the movie relate to the management principle of leading and controlling?

Rancho in this movie is a perfect example of a leader. He succeeded in influencing and motivating his two friends to follow their dreams. He does not impose it to any of them but instead he walk his talk. He makes it a point to understand their personalities, attitudes, and emotions and he attacked the situation considering all of these factors. Farhan pursued his dream and became successful on this field. Raju, on the other hand, developed self trust and worth and was able to get a good job

With regards to control, the fact that in the end of the story, Rancho was able to smoothly run a school carrying his principles and ideas of learning only meant that he is an effective leader. Even in the “giving birth” scene, Rancho was in full control of the situation. He was able to give directions to everybody and everybody followed.

The College (ICE) also, even traditional, could have control standards based on their own qualifications. They succeeded in imposing strict control on the students as evidenced by the prestige that they were able to built.

2. Relate the movie in terms of career management, or choice of career after college.

The movie points out very well the primary thing to consider in choosing a career in College as enacted in the sequence where the 3 main characters of the movie was in a drinking spree after the results of their final exams came out. Rancho topped the exam, while his two friends turned out to be at the bottom two positions. Rancho told the two that he did it because it was the thing that he liked to do most.

Rancho pointed out to Farhan that Farhan had difficulty passing the course because his heart

Analysis of Three Idiots

...1. Describe the system of education in the movie. To be able to fully describe the system of education in the movie “The Three Idiots”, one must know the educational system being implemented by the Indian government. Although some states in India have already used modern teaching methods such as creative learning by Howard Garner, Modern education in India is often criticized for being based on rote learning rather than problem solving. The system of education in the movie is Authoritarian because the teacher, in this case the university professor, is the law and the only authority in the process of learning inside the classroom. It is also is based on the Traditional Method because it emphasizes rote learning which was already replaced by other more effective teaching methods because of its limitation in developing higher learning skills in students. Instances in the movie have shown how the emphasis in rote learning has stifled the students’ full comprehension of a theory that also hampered the development of their creative abilities because they must always follow what is being prescribed them by their mentors. Insubordination will mean being rusticated from the school system. With this fact, it is no surprise that this dysfunctional engineering school system portrayed in the movie, pressures huge numbers of students into suicide. 2. Describe the main characters in the movie. ( at least five ) a. Aamir Khan as Ranchhoddas "Rancho" Shamaldas Chhanchad...

Movie Analysis - Three Idiots

...MOVIE ANALYSIS THREE IDIOTS Entertaining, funny, tearjerker, inspirational, mind-boggling, intriguing, realistic, name it - anything you would want from a great movie, Three Idiots definitely got it all. The movie basically features the lives of three college students during and after college and how the educational system works in India. I would like to share my point of view or analysis of the film based on some of the remarkable lines from the movie itself: 1. "And this is a college, not a pressure cooker. The lion in a circus learns that he needs to sit on the chair if his owner has a whip in his hand. But that lion is called well-trained, not well-educated." - Rancho - True enough, this describes how much pressure, every college student has to deal with in order to meet their professors' high standards and accustomed school curriculum. The essence and joy of learning are being overlooked coz the students tend to be too bookish, go with the flow, say yes to everything the teacher has to say to make sure they get high or passing grades. To me, grades are just numbers and should never define one's knowledge and abilities. 2. "Make your passion your profession. So it will not be work but play." - Rancho - It's your life, your choice. Never let anyone dictate you on what you're going to do with your life coz we only got one. Most especially in choosing a course or career you'd want to take. Yes, you might wanna consult your parents and ask their opinion but...

Film Analysis of 3 Idiots and Societal Impacts on Individualism

...Azim Ali Ali 1 Film Analysis of 3 Idiots and Societal Impacts on Individualism There is a classical Hindu scripture and story part of the Mahabharata called the Bhagavad Gita. In this story, one can tell the importance of sacrifice and dharma in Indian society. A legendary archer, Arjuna, has a major dilemma in the story in which he was to go to battle and fight, as he was a Kshatriya (warrior caste), or to not fight because he was going into battle to fight his uncles and aunts. Arjuna asked his chariot driver, an incarnation of Krishna, what he should do, and the driver told Arjuna to obey his dharma and fight just as his duty entailed him to and fight his loved ones. The dilemma that Arjuna experiences in the Bhagavad Gita is the same as the one many of the characters in 3 Idiots face. 3 Idiots is the perfect amalgamation of how dharma and izit affect one’s life in South Asia. Throughout the film, there were stories of characters facing the problem of being accepted in society as something other than what their parents wished them to be or do. 3 Idiots is a great movie that pushes the idea that duty and izit is not limited to family pressures or societal pressures, but also it pushes the idea that duty and izit can come from within and from individualism. The movie is a story of how three friends faced the major issues and problems with the education system in India and around the world. Three main characters: Rancho, Raju, and Farhan all coming from different...

American Idiot Review

...The Broadway show American Idiot takes its audience on a journey through the trials and tribulations of 3 young men growing up in America saturated in media and unsure of just who they truly are. The musical is an extravagant display of visual media, dazzling the viewers and leaving them wondering how to divide their attention among all the different things happening on stage. However, despite this strength, the show lacks character development as well as sufficient plot motivation. The plot of the show is easy enough to describe. Three boys, dissatisfied with their humdrum suburban existence decide to hit the road and find something out there more exciting than their hometown. However, Will (Michael Esper), one of the boys is sidetracked when his girlfriend Heather (Mary Faber) informs him that she is pregnant with his child. The other two boys, Johnny (the main character, played by John Gallagher, Jr.) and Tunny (Stark Sands) leave Will behind and head off to make their way in the world. Soon Tunny enlists in the army, and Johnny gets hooked on heroin, creating an alter ego named St. Jimmy (Tony Vincent). As the show goes on, Johnny falls for a woman named Whatshername (Rebecca Naomi Jones), but their relationship is destroyed by St. Jimmy, or his addiction. Tunny loses his leg in battle, but gains love in the form of a woman named The Extraordinary Girl (Christina Sajous). Heather gives birth, but ends up leaving Will due to his alcoholism and general apathy. Eventually...

Art and Honesty

...art itself. Grace Hwang Lynch in her article, “The Importance of Art in Child Development” on Pbs.org, speaks about the advantage art has on children that can improve their (the children) learning skills. Brian Kisida, Jay P. Greene, and Daniel H. Bowan in their article, “Art Makes You Smart” on Nytimes.com, mentions how the three paired with an art museum, “testing” and studying students (with consent) visiting the museum and asking about their knowledge on art. Fran Smith’s article, “Why Arts Education is Crucial, and Who’s Doing It Best” on Edutopia.org speaks about how art can apply to educational benefits for students to expand their potential. Honesty holds an important quality in life. Honesty means being truthful about a person instead of starting rumours. Being honest means admitting to lying about something, no matter how stupid, like a little boy forgetting to flush the toilet when clearly, the little boy was the last one to use the bathroom. Linda and Charlie Bloom in their article “The Cost and Benefits of Emotional Honesty”, speaks about how feeling like an idiot applies to honesty: “It's a small price to pay to feel like a blundering idiot while we are learning the skills of emotional honesty.” A student who had cheated on a test and then notified the professor of cheating also signifies a sense of honesty. Honesty comes throughout all types of art and proper usage and credit should...

Advice to Students

...Amanda Harvey English 101 Advice to students essay (idiot Nation) My Advice to You “Our problem isn’t just that our kids don’t know nothin’ but that the adults who pay their tuition are no better,” States Moore in Idiot Nation. To the rest of the world we Americans are obnoxious, ignorant, stupid human beings and unfortunately it’s partly true. It’s not that I am agreeing with such horrible accusations, it’s just that I believe most of the general American people are lazy. We like to do things the easiest way possible and have come accustomed to the easy life. How long has it been since you walked up to your television to change the channel instead of using the remote? Did you know that only “11% of the American public bothers to read a daily newspaper beyond the funny pages or used car ads (Moore 129).” Education is so important in so many ways, which is why you should take your education seriously. It equips us with everything we need to make our futures bright. Try to challenge yourself.A diverse and well- rounded education could potentially help you achieve anything you set your mind to. It was so easy in high school. I remember missing two days and you barely had any makeup work. In College, you miss one class and your struggling to get caught back up and you’re so lost in classroom conversation it’s like your instructor is speaking another language. Education is a serious matter and should be treated as so. “Yale and Harvard, Princeton and Dartmouth, Stanford and...

Argumentative Essay: Hillary Clinton

...I see so much hate for Trump supporters and while I understand it... At this point I hate Hillary supporters much more. They may not have the racism and sexism of the Trump supporters, but they're doing much more harm. They're pushing for the continuation of corrupt businesses running the government, for wars in the Middle East to further a plan of killing, and for standards of living to decrease just like they have for the past three decades. They turn a blind eye to the corruption that is happening in this nation. They will accept anything she says even though her donors and her previous statements contradict the same issues she tries to support now. She is a liar and untrustworthy and by ignoring that these supporters push through someone who very likely does not have our best interests at heart. Someone that can easily turn her back on these important issues and fall into line with the beliefs that her various donors hold. At this stage Trump supporters are only fighting against other racist sexist candidates who are as detrimental to society as he is. Once the primaries are over, then we can see them as the enemies to progress that they are. But if we had a majority...

Chris Mccandless: Hero Or Fool?

...He proves how hard he is on his parents in Chapter 7 when he sends his sister a letter saying he is divorcing his parents and said he would never talk to either one of those idiots again. This event is very foolish. Chris had a good life growing up, but when he found out about his father cheating on his mother and having another child while he was still married, he started to hate his parents. If he was heroic he would not of acted the way he did. He would of forgave his father and stayed in touch with his parents while on his adventure. A quote that shows his hate for his parents is “Once the time is right, with one abrupt, swift action I’m going to completely knock them out of my life. I’m going to divorce them as my parents once and for all and never speak to either of those idiots again as long as I live. I’ll be through with them once and for all, forever.” (Krakauer, 46). That quote shows how Chris overreacted and was way to hard on his parents. In the story “Into the Wild” Chris McCandless goes into the Alaskan wilderness and dies. Was Chris McCandless heroic or foolish? Chris McCandless is a fool. Through out the story he proved his foolishness many times, for example, Chris tried to survive in the wilderness...
