Although all experts agree that the writing process is made up of several stages. Not everyone agrees on what part is the most important. Some believe that prewriting is the key to producing a good paper, others think that revising is the most important step. My teachers emphasized all areas. Pointing out that prewriting techniques could be used at any time during the writing of a paper and showing me that revising also occurred constantly as I wrote my rough drafts. Coming up with a good idea to write about is almost always difficult, however, I find the revising stage to be the most challenging and rewarding part of the writing process. According to professional writers. There are many approaches to revising and I try to experiment to find

My Writing Process Analysis

...Metacognitive Essay From the time I signed up for Composition, I was terrified for what laid in front of me. I had heard horror stories from the grades above me that after awhile I actually started to believe. Since Composition is a college class, I was uncertain if I was going to be successful, but with the help of peer responses and an understanding teacher, for the first time in highschool, I am confident in my writing. The writing process is the biggest thing that helped me in Composition class. There was only one essay where I did not use the writing process and because of that, I didn’t write to my fullest potential. After that learning experience, I started each paper with an outline. My outline consisted of splitting my information into paragraphs and from there figuring out the best way to put my ideas into words. Once I had a finished outline, I checked with Mrs. Gelwicks to ensure my essay would succeed. After I received the go ahead, I began to write my body paragraphs first before even thinking about my introduction. The...

My Writing Process Analysis

...When my writing, I aim to use formal words instead of slang; however when looking at writers diet review I can see that I can over use certain words such as verbs and adjectives. When writing academically, I always refrain from using the word you or any other personal reference. Writing in the third person, instead identifying to the reader the person or thing you are referring to (Grellier & Goerke, 2010). In my writing, a strength I find easy to avoid is abbreviation and contractions such as using the word example instead of eg (Grellier & Goerke, 2010) or cannot instead of can’t. Using informative adjectives such as effectively and fundamentally contributes to strengthening my formal writing. In my previous study periods, I have received feedback that my writing needs to be more formal. After revising using the communication skills toolkit (Grellier...

College Writing Process Analysis

...Throughout this writing process i have improved as a writer because using a different writing process that im not use to has help me change the way i think about college writing. It has also change the way i write and has helped me learn more about myself as a writer. I believe that through the writing process i have changed the way I think about college writing. I didn't think it would be much different than high school writing but throughout this process i have realized that the process that is involved for college writing is much more complex. For example when I write an essay for my english classes in high school all that is required is a rough draft and a final draft and sometimes you need to have it peer edited before submitting it. Differently during the writing process for a college essay I had to have 2 rough drafts revised and edited and a final draft to meet the requirements. Another big difference in the writing process is the we had to turn in a annotated bibliography that I had never been required to turn in , in any of my high school writing classes. Going through the writing process it has changed the way i see college writing...

Successful College Writing Process Analysis

...Is there a special way to read? One may think reading is as simple as opening the book, skimming the words once, and then you're done. However, that's not the case and reading requires a sufficient amount of diligence. In college you don't merely read, but you also analyze, understand, remember, and respond to the writing. Chapter 3 of Successful College Writing expands on this topic and offers insight on the actions that accompany reading and responding to the text. College introduces difficult literary assignments, (such as informative essays and essays meant for academic audiences) and unlike high school, you won't receive as much support in deciphering the text. This means you need to acquire sustainable skills and become an active reader. Being an active reader requires for you to take action before, while, and after you read. Before you read you need to preview the selection and form questions based on what you have previewed. Your preview should include the title, introduction, headings, photos, conclusions and several other aspects. As soon as you finish previewing the selection, write questions on sections you didn't quite understand or you want to know more about. This can help guide your reading so you can better comprehend it....

Enhancing Activities to Develop Writing Skills of Pupils

...RATIONALE If you’re a parent or teacher whose pupil has a problem with writing skills, it can be a frustrating experience. He/she may be falling behind peers in class, getting poor grades and even acting out due to negative feedback, that’s why this study was conducted. The purpose of this study is to investigate the efficiency of writing process in improving written expression skills of Grade IV pupils in Aglayan Elementary School. I. INTRODUCTION Writing is an important part of our daily lives. It is, however, a difficult skill to learn and master. By getting a head start with some simple activities, you can help your child begin to develop her writing skills at an early age. By doing so, you will be contributing to her future success as a pupil and as an adult while teaching her how to express herself. Whether pupils are writing by hand or on the computer, many assignments and exams require pupils to write short answers or longer essays as a way of assessing what they have learned. As pupils get older, they will be expected to show more sophisticated writing skills, and to complete more sophisticated tasks through their writing. In addition, many colleges and universities require students to write essays as part of their admissions application. Unlike any other skills, writing skills are important universally. They are needed in any field, or endeavor one is. And since there are only two ways (speaking and writing) by which can express one’s feelings, thoughts, desires, and intentions...

Reflective Essay About My Writing Analysis

...This semester of English 111 has taught me many things about my writing. I have learned that one of my best strategies with writing is getting a head start. I have learned that I will produce a better paper if I work on it periodically rather than all at once before the due date. Writing a paper periodically allows my brain to take a rest between each night. While my brain does get a rest, writing periodically also allows me to think of new thoughts and ideas that I want to incorporate into my paper. Along with this idea, a strategy that doesn’t work as well for me is trying to do too much at once. For the Paradise Lost Analysis and British Literature Analysis, I tried to do everything in one night so I wouldn’t have to worry about it any more. This technique put even more stress on me and made me overwhelmed. Although my literary analyses seemed strong in my...

...Luke Martino Writing 102 12/9/15 Writing 102 Portfolio Throughout this semester of Writing 102, I have been assigned to write four essays that have stressed the course competencies of subject matter knowledge, writing process knowledge, rhetorical knowledge, genre knowledge, discourse community knowledge, and meta-cognition. Through the process of drafting, editing, and revising three out of the four papers, I think I have been effectively able to absorb three of those course competencies; subject matter knowledge, rhetorical knowledge, and writing process knowledge. The first paper I was assigned to write for Writing 102 was a literacy narrative. For this paper, I was told to write about a past experience that helped influence my current writing and reading qualities. The core competencies that were involved in this essay were writing process knowledge and subject matter knowledge. I used writing process knowledge when I was told to generate ideas for my essay. I began by thinking of five possible ideas and from there I created a brainstorming web out of the two topics I thought would be the most interesting. Shortly after starting, I realized I could only build an effective brainstorming web from one idea. I decided to use the first time I forgot my lines in a play as my main idea for the essay. After I completed the brainstorming web and finished taking notes on what I remembered from the incident I started to follow the writing process that consisted of prewriting...

Phrase Structure Rules Used in Written Composition of Technical College Freshmen

...Respondents * Data Gathering Procedure * Research Design * Data Analysis E. Timetable for Research F. References TITLE A Syntactic and Comparative Analysis of Phrase Structure Rules Used in the Written Diagnostic and Term Composition of Freshmen Computer Secretarial Students in Bulacan Polytechnic College (Obando Campus) INTRODUCTION Rationale It is said that language learning is the product of formal instruction and it comprises a conscious process which results in conscious knowledge ‘about’ the language, for example knowledge of grammar rules. Although ‘language learning’ is considered less important than language acquisition, most of what is learned has been coming from the formal teaching in school. It is also said that the acquisition of grammatical structures follows a ‘natural order’ which is predictable. For a given language, some grammatical structures tend to be acquired early while others late. It can be derived that language learning could also be predictable and that grammatical structures are learned in an orderly manner controlled by the series of language teaching (particularly grammar teaching) courses embedded in a curriculum program. Language learning and language teaching are relatively intertwined and the effectiveness of the latter could be reflected by the other. Moreover, language teaching effectiveness does not solely depend on the teaching-learning process...
