...The event that I attended was a film in the Regina A. Quick Center for the Arts, in the Rigas Theater. This took place on Thursday, October 19th, 2017 at 7 pm. The film that was played was titled “Lake of Betrayal The Story of Kinzua Dam.” It was a screening of a new documentary film for national PBS broadcast from Toward Castle Films and Skipping Stone Pictures. The film discussed concern of the events surrounding the construction of the Kinzua Dam on the Allegheny River. The PBS producers and some Seneca residents were there watching the documentary as well. It describes the experiences, the impact, and the future for the Seneca people. So okay, let’s presume the multiverse is real. Well then, maybe somewhere in those infinite universes is one, or several, where I deserve you. Maybe there’s a universe out there — happening now — where we end up together and when I close my eyes at night, I’m not dreaming the way a normal person would. ...Looking into Where the Sidewalk Ends Have you ever asked questions, or thought about what is behind the scenes. Why does it seems like only children use their imagination anymore? I think the poem, Where the Sidewalk Ends by Shel Silverstein is saying that exact thing. This poem is talking about a place that is peaceful, with no problems. But not just anyone can go to this place, and only the people with the eye to see it realize it is there. The first two line is the poem stats, “ There is a place where the sidewalk ends, and before the street begins,” That right there makes me think automatically this might be about something magical, or something where you have to think outside of the obvious and use your imagination. ...Mrs. Windsor Where the Sidewalk Ends by Shel Silverstein Where the Sidewalk Ends is a poem wrote by poet and musician Shel Silverstein. Silverstein was born in September, 1930 in Chicago. At the age of 20 he enlisted in the United States Army serving in both Korea and Japan. During his time in service he wrote cartoons for the famous Stars and Stripes magazine. It wasn’t until the late 1950’s to mid 1970’s when Silverstein gained national recognition for his cartoons in Playboy magazine. In 1963 Silverstein teamed up with Ursula Nordstrom a book editor who persuaded him to start writing material for children. As the 1960’s ended and the 70’s began Silverstein composed songs such as “A Boy Named Sue” made popular by the famous musician Johnny Cash. Although he had a very successful career doing other things it was his poems written in both 1974 and 1976, Where the Sidewalk Ends and The Missing Piece making him a famous children’s author. In 1999 after a long and successful career Shel Silverstein passed away at the age of 69 in Key West, Florida. Where the Sidewalk Ends was wrote telling us to allow our past to be left behind and move into the future. As adults we forget how to be free spirited and full of optimism. The first thing we wanted to figure out was if he walked of the build by his own free will or did someone force him out of the window? To get this answer we would need to find out the distance that the victim feel, and we had already gotten this from the officers and the time it took him to reach the ground. To do this we put the information that we got from the police which was, that the victim was 35.38 feet from an open window on the 35th floor, on a 320 ft. high rise building into the falling time formula t=h16. Married women are particularly criticised whose only job is to waste the money and resources of men whilst they sit and do nothing shown with Strepsiades in The Clouds where his wife robbed him of all his money – Strepsiades states how she is “wearing my resources”. This is corroborated by Plautus’s, The Swaggering Soldier with Periplectomenus who complains how wives make you miserable and waste your money endlessly spending money - “all that sort of expense that women cost”.
