Political party platforms

The political party platform is used to show what a parties position is on multiple issues. This paper will describe what each of the four political parties view is on the defense of marriage and strengthening of families in regards to early childhood and how each differs I’m going to start off with the Republican party of Texas which firmly believes that marriage is God-ordained and that it can only be a legal and moral commitment between a natural man and a natural woman which they consider to be a foundational unit of a healthy society. The platform opposes any type of recognition to allowing benefits to couples who label themselves as domestic partners and are not legally married. They also advocate the removal of laws that place an unfair tax on a families income. And at last the Republican party of Texas supports the traditional Judeo-Christian values on family and opposes the continued attack on these traditional values. Republicans oppose any type of government mandated pre school or kindergarten (Republicans of Texas -Strengthening families promoting life and protecting health, pg 7)

Libertarians on the other hands differ completely then those of the Texas republicans. Libertarians support full protection of people from federal and state legislation that go against ones individual rights to not allow marriage base on gender orientation. They believe that the government has no authority in deciding who can and cannot get married and that marriage is a private contract and shouldn’t be defined by the government or licensed, and hope to remove any legislation and or polices regarding to what a marriage is. In all, libertarians believe the government should not be able to make laws regarding marriage and that it is a social private contract. When it comes to welfare programs, Libertarians believe that government funded organization should be disbanded because they cause the private charities to drive. Its believed by Texas Libertarians that it’s a waste of federal tax dollars due to the misuse and mismanagement of money by these programs and hope to replace all welfare programs with private charities because it is believes that the local and private sector of society can better handle welfare programs. (Libertarian Texas party platform pg 4-5 II.1.d-II.1.e)

The Green party is very brief on the subject but makes there points clear. The Green party opposes any discrimination against any gender or sexual orientation when it comes to child custody and adoption. and support same sex marriage with the same rights that are given to heterosexual couples. (Green party of Texas Platform (2008) II. Social justice and equal opportunity) The Democrats of Texas also believe in sexual equality and support the marriage of me sex couples. They believe the government should not be able to put in laws keeping people from being able to provide and take care of there family members because they are not licensed married couples. Texas Democrats believe in a child care system that wants private and non-profit organizations such as charities to increase the accessibility of child services by taking money from investment grant and tax credits and that after school cares or daycares can help improve the quality of families and the safety of children which will improve the foundation for education for the future. (http://www.txdemocrats.org/values/security-for-our-families) After reading all the parties platforms they all tend to agree when it comes to same sex marriage except for Republicans which beliefs on same sex marriage come from a Christian background. Now even though most have a agreement on same sex marriage they have minor differences when it comes to what the definition of marriage is and how it should be handled , if by the government or not and if it should have any effect on peoples lives. When it comes to the early childhood and welfare programs , the Green party really didn’t specify on anything concerning welfare programs or early childhood ,just on how to make education in schools better with curriculum and budget. Democrats and Libertarians both agree on how to increase the availability of child services but disagree on who should do it. The Libertarians don’t want government organizations only non profit charities when democrats want both. In all , the Green part , Democrats and Libertarians all agree when it comes to gender equality but might have disagreements on the use of marriage in the government . And that all the parties differ in welfare and early childhood but still have some of the same basic concepts.
