TIME SAVERS AND WASTERS SYNTHESIS

Time wasters are those who cannot manage time efficiently, they don’t even notice that wasting time may result to loss of productivity in the company. Thus, there are plenty of studies that have been conducted at the individual and in the organization. Moore presents ten most common time wasters given by 3, 000 managers, about 80 percent of the middle-level position. The time wasters that Moore is tackling about are the difficulties in interferences. Here are the following: the telephone – the problem of these is the wasting of time due to the frequency and the length of calls. Example is the responding all call even though some of them are not important because of these some important things that needed to be done will be left behind. One way to eliminate time wasting of it is to screen the incoming calls by secretary; holding all calls or shutting down telephone during important periods is a solution for this. Meetings - is also a time wasting when it is “too long and too many” or “ineffective and indecisive”, one alternative solution to avoid time wasting during meeting is to reduce the number of meetings; have an agenda with a purpose of the meeting preparing the involvement of the constituents. Reports – paper works, report writing, memos, and etc. can also cause time wasting, in order to avoid time wasting on the report better forms control and paper work simplication programs; more on prevention than stopping the process. The visitors – unannounced visits by person referred by a superior or coming from home office, one suggestive solution for this is to use of avoidance techniques like never sitting down or edging them toward the door and having secretary openly announce another commitment. Delegation and Procrastination can be a time wasting, better have to going over work instruction carefully and having them

...in order to achieve this colossal and tedious task, Verizon must first create a fresher and significantly upgraded customer service and survey process for Verizon. This will be accomplished by following a few simple goals such as, delighting Verizon’s customers, offering them a survey, and reducing their wait times and overall call times by at least 50% if not more. Delighting customers is a rather simple and straightforward task, such as being prompt and avoiding delays, listening to their concerns, and giving them what they really need and not want, which happens to be a key fundamental in delighting customers...

...THE TIME TRAP ASSIGNMENT ENGINEERING MANAGEMENT 500 “MANAGING THE ENGINEERING FUNCTION” Mohamed Elsayed (79273930) 11/02/2014 THE TIME TRAP ASSIGNMENT Introduction “Time is the most valuable thing on earth: time to think, time to act, time to extend our fraternal relations, time to become better men, time to become better women, time to become better and more independent citizens”. Samuel Gompers While I was exploring the internet looking for quotes talking about the time importance in order to finish my Time Trap assignment, I found Samuel’s quote that struck the chord, in the beginning I felt that he was talking to the people all over the world, but soon I realized he was talking to my instinct to be more better and better than what I am now. Since I came to USA with my family in 2012 I am looking to what will stop me accomplish my targets and dreams, is it the feeling of leaving my beloved people or feeling homesickness? I can develop myself, give my family time, and be socially having new relationships, interact with the community, adapt with the new environment, but give me Time. As Alec Mackenzie referred in his book that all of us saying “There is never enough time”, yes I was saying the same, and I was repeated it all the time until I found I was digging my grave by my own hands, the reason that I was taking my family’s responsibilities over my shoulder even the minor details with no asking for help even from my second half “My Wife”, in fact...

Washed Ashore Project Analysis

...in Contemporary American Art and Design provides a brief description of how a First World country, America, evolved its harmful disillusionments by way of consumer culture. “Americans relished prosperity after the Great Depression and World War II ended. As new goods flooded the markets in the 1950’s… many families had disposable income to spend on leisure activities… by owning the newest gadgets and machines… Obsolescence became a byword for manufacturers; styles changed quickly, so that last years model… was soon out of date. Excessive and unnecessary packaging, disposables such as diapers and plastic cups, and a plethora of new plastics… added to the problem. In only one generation, America was transformed from a nation of savers to a nation of wasters” (Herman 18). Globally this daunting factor remains. At this point it seems there is no better just worse, in view of what area of the world garbage waste is to be consistently laid to rest. An ominous view could be subject in mind; a cycle met and perceived harmful for the old to the young to the posterity to come. An example of discussion on trash art at the beginning of the book Trashformations includes twentieth century artists Marcel Duchamp’s Roue de Bicyclette, a bicycle tire attached to a stool, along with a quote by Pablo Picasso about the perception on how he created his famous representation of a bullhead from a bicycle seat and rusty handlebars (Herman p 12 13). These two works of art are some of the integral examples...

Time Management

...Time Management Nick Repak Director, Grad Resources http://www.gradresources.org/articles/time_management.shtml You finally decide to sit down to begin your paper. As your computer warms up, you pick up a journal that has sat in the "to be read" pile for a month. There is an interesting article on innovative research methods in your field, so you decide to take notes. Two hours later, the paper is still untouched when there is a phone call from your advisor. It seems that he was given an opportunity for a sabbatical in Europe, and the date for your proposal has been moved up six months. You immediately shove the books aside (for the paper you thought you would work on), and you begin outlining the proposal. After a few moments, there is a knock at the door. You knew your friend was having a difficult personal time but why did it have to turn into a crisis now? Being the sensitive and available person that you are, you set aside your work to listen and comfort your friend. After several hours, you realize, as your friend is leaving, that you haven't eaten, you never started on your paper, the proposal is still mainly a collection of ideas in your head; and that you were so preoccupied with the personal pressures you were feeling that you wonder if you really did your friend any good. However, you decide that the urgent things will always push out things you planned so you start to wonder if you should give up planning. The scenario described is often referred to as "The Tyranny...

Food Wastage

...Food Wastage At the moment, it is hard to tell whether the world has sufficient food supplies or not. Most of developed countries claim to have people who are still not able to access food while at the same time, still report of more food wastage than the third world, developing nations. That indicates a big mishap in the food cycle as it so happens that most of the food either finds itself in the dumpster or on the plates of the very rich. China, USA, Canada, South Eastern Asia, and Europe have been amongst the countries hit by this storm of food wasting. While Britain is said to be throwing away about thirteen pounds of food per week, Canada is struggling with same problem. The United States is not spared either. Food and Agriculture Organization, abbreviation as FAO says that about a third of the world produce is wasted. By 2007, FAO projected that the increase ought to have gone high by sixty percent so that the emerging wealthier generation could be fed totally. While people could focus on increasing production, it is worth noting that reducing the amount of food waste in most cases would see to the situation being placed under comtrol, albeit for a bit (Barclay, 2014). Globally, around 1.3 billion ton of food goes to waste. Food is wasted from initial agricultural production, all the way to the final household consumption. The medium and high income countries are the leaders in the food wasting melee. Food is thrown away despite being still suitable for human consumption...

...Excel Tutorial to Improve Your Efficiency (2007 Version) Introduction My purpose with this Excel tutorial is to illustrate some Excel tips that will dramatically improve your efficiency. I make no attempt to be as encyclopedic as some of the 800-page Excel manuals available. I concentrate on common tasks, not every last thing that can be done in Excel. Also, I presume that you have some Excel knowledge. For example, I assume you know about rows and columns, values, labels, and formulas, relative and absolute addresses, and other basic Excel elements. If you know virtually nothing about Excel, you probably ought to work through an “Excel for Dummies” book and then work through this tutorial. The style of this tutorial should be easy to follow. Main topics appear in bold black type. Specific direction headings are in yellow, and these are followed by detailed directions in red. Additional comments about the directions appear in blue. Then there are “Try it!” exercises in green. These “Try it!” exercises are a key feature of this tutorial. I have embedded numerous sample Excel spreadsheets so that you can try out the directions right away—without switching into Excel. When you double-click on one of these spreadsheets, you launch Excel, and the spreadsheet “comes alive.” The menus and toolbars even change to those for Excel. By clicking outside one of these spreadsheets, you’re back in Word. The easiest way to maneuver around this tutorial is to switch to outline view. To do...
