MILLERSBURG — A former Uhrichsville man on Tuesday denied criminal charges he broke into two area homes in December and January.
Timothy James Suloff, 38, who is currently incarcerated in the Ohio Correctional Center in Orient, pleaded not guilty in Holmes County Common Pleas Court to two counts of burglary and two counts of theft.
If convicted, Suloff faces up to eight years in prison for each burglary charge.
The charges stem from incidents occurring on Dec. 30 and Jan. 3, which is when Suloff reportedly entered homes along Hardy Township 319 and County Road 625 in Berlin Township, respectively, according to Chief Deputy Richard Haun of the Holmes County Sheriff's Office.
From the Hardy Township home, he reportedly took a television, a game player, a safe, jewelry box and change. On the second occasion, he is accused of entering the residence through a fire escape window and taking a television, cash and a …show more content…
Suloff was similarly identified, charged, found guilty of and sentenced to seven years in prison for three burglaries in Marion County.
Of Suloff's identification, Haun said, law enforcement and the courts always expect home arrest devices effectively cause individuals to voluntarily comply with the law; however, when they don't, the devices quickly become investigative tools that can be used by law enforcement agencies, which constantly are working together to enforce the law and solve crimes.
Suloff, who was indicted in April, was never confronted about the local accusations, according to Haun.
Because of his recent admission into the prison system, his previously set bond of $100,000 was reduced to his own recognizance. He is next scheduled to appear in Holmes County Common Pleas Court for a Dec. 21 pretrial conference. A jury trial is scheduled for Jan.
