Accounting Aspect of the Company

...accounting aspect of the company. The company had been using Quickbooks software for in the early stages of its growth, but later found that the company was growing beyond the powers of Quickbooks. The company invested large sums of money and hours into finding software to specifically meet the needs that they were looking for as an SME. The owner, Kurt Daems as noted in the book by the CFO, Ron Schwab, “was fed up he finally came to me and said he was ready to look at a SAP software alternative that he had heard about”.(p.115) This led to the discovery of a company called JourneyTEAM, which was a local SAP service partner.(p.115) If I was opening a SME similar to the size of Wolf Peak, I would defiantly look at SAP Business One software to manage the accounting for my business. The software is specifically designed for SMEs as stated in the case study, and it automates all of the critical operations of the company including sales, finance, purchasing, and inventory along with many other important aspects of running a company. The text later stated that Wolf Peak had spent several thousand dollars and months of work to generate four or five reports that the new software was able to generate in an afternoon.(p.115) It is also said to be fairly affordable and promises to offer rapid return on investment. All of the different aspects of the software seem very user friendly and Schwab mentions on page 116 that, “it’s the best accounting program he has ever worked with” and with the XL Reporter...

Busi 510b Managerial Economics Final Project

...is a publicly traded company that focuses on title insurance which is directly tied to real estate sales and refinancing. Since the housing market downturn in 2006, this firm’s total revenue declined by 67% while total costs remained constant with overhead and operating costs. Sales and marketing are not a factor in revenue generation as the firm deposits more cash into a given bank and negotiates earnings credit rates. FNF asks that the bank to refer their mortgage customers to use this firm’s title and escrow services at closings. Thus, the more money the firm deposits at the bank, the more referrals will be generated which increases revenue. Since late 2006 to present day, the number of new mortgages has severely declined thus lowering the FNF’s value. However, it’s not over for FNF quite yet. The firm was able to lower costs by closing local offices and reducing staff in certain depressed markets like Michigan, California, Pennsylvania, and so forth. In addition, they able to reduce operating costs using technology breakthroughs such as increased networking solutions and more effective collaboration tools that reduced the need to travel. Moreover, cost reduction was accomplished by re-negotiating enterprise agreements with Microsoft and McAfee. Introduction: Fidelity National Financial, Inc is a leading, Fortune 1000 provider of title insurance, specialty insurance and claims management services. ...Business Letters A business letter is more formal than a personal letter. It should have a margin of at least one inch on all four edges. It is always written on 8½"x11" (or metric equivalent) unlined stationery. There are sixparts to a business letter. 1. The Heading. This contains the return address (usually two or three lines) with the date on the last line. Sometimes it may be necessary to include a line after the address and before the date for a phone number, fax number, E-mail address, or something similar. Often a line is skipped between the address and date. That should always be done if the heading is next to the left margin. (See Business Letter Styles.) It is not necessary to type the return address if you are using stationery with the return address already imprinted. Always include the date. 2. The Inside Address. This is the address you are sending your letter to. Make it as complete as possible. Include titles and names if you know them. This is always on the left margin. If an 8½" x 11" paper is folded in thirds to fit in a standard 9" business envelope, the inside address can appear through the window in the envelope. An inside address also helps the recipient route the letter properly and can help should the envelope be damaged and the address become unreadable. Skip a line after the heading before the inside address. Skip another line after the inside address before the greeting. 3. The Greeting. Also called the salutation. The greeting in a business...

...Harvard Referencing Guide HARVARD REFERENCING GUIDE HOW TO USE THIS GUIDE This guide is divided into four sections that represent four different types of publications: 1. Periodicals: Journal and newspaper articles: pp. 2-3 2. Electronic publications: pp. 3-6 3. Books: pp. 6-7 4. Miscellaneous publications and materials: pp. 7-8 Within each section, we have organised the information into three columns: • Column 1 lists the different types of source materials that you will need to reference when you are doing an assignment. • Column 2 shows you how to do ‘in-text referencing’ or ‘in-text citation’ – this is where you refer to your sources of information WITHIN your assignment when you paraphrase, summarise or quote. • Column 3 shows you how to cite each type of reference in the ‘Reference List’ at the END of your assignment. This list of references provides your reader with all the information about each source you have referred to in your assignment, so they can find each source you have referred to if they wish. Here are some useful terms with which you need to be familiar: A paraphrase means saying something in another way without changing its meaning, for example, using your own words to express the ideas of an author. A paraphrase may/may not be shorter than the original. A summary is similar to a paraphrase except it is shorter than the original. Summarising involves ‘compressing’ large amounts of information into a few sentences. So it...
