Many people when they were young viewed non-living things such as their dolls, cars, posters and many other objects as a dear friend. Non-living things sort of soothes and brings comfort to someone who either have limited friends, antisocial or prefers to be alone. Within this reading, the girl referred to her anorexia as a friend that is nonjudgmental that understands her and her feelings.
