One of the greatest threats facing humanity today is global warming, the issue being faced in the video “Too Hot Not to Handle.” Although the average person can only sense small changes occurring scientists can see a whole new world then the one we have now due to global warming. The weather is getting warmer, the glaciers are melting, and plants and animals are changing, all direct causes of global warming. This major issue is happening right now, everyday. One major aspect coming directly out of global warming is the increase in heat waves. The video states that over the last 50 years the amounts of heat waves that have lasted for over four days have since then tripled. The amount of human deaths associated with heat waves is greater than the number of deaths caused by hurricanes, tornadoes, lightning, and blizzards combined. Heavy population can survive 1-3 days of extremely hot weather, but the 1995 Chicago heat wave lasted a week with a temperature of 106 degrees killing 800 people in a short period of time. The 2003 heat wave in Europe killed a devastatingly even greater amount, over 6000 in Germany, over 14000 in France, and over 19,000 in Italy. If global warming continues at this accelerated pace then the heat waves will worsen, it is predicted that by 2020 they will double. Extreme weather is yet another cause of global warming, for example, if the ocean is heating up then that causes more evaporation, which leads to more rain. Due to this what is happening in the US is that the common yearly rain is decreasing while heavy rains are increasing. More rain may seem good but in reality its not, it can lead to local flooding and if it continues it can cause widespread flooding. With the flooding comes the mixture of water, sanitation water with clean water, contaminating the water and affecting out health. Overall, the atmosphere will get

Bathrooms

...My biggest pet peeve is with bathrooms. When someone uses up all the hot water and you have to use cold water to take a shower. Peeing on the toilet. People that can’t put the toilet seat down. Leaving your pee and poop in the toilet don’t you know how to flush? The toilet paper not the right way you have to pull it from the top not the bottom and if you have no more toilet paper put a new roll on for the next person. When you use all the hot water you are taking too hot of a shower to to long so if you have it really hot turn it down so that the next person has some hot water to use when he or she is taking a shower. And if you are taking a really long shower put a egg timer and do like 5 min. so that way you still have water that is hot to use. Boys have a problem of lifting the toilet seat and so they some how miss the big hole that is there for them to pee in. if peeing is not fun put frout loops in there so you have something to acme at or just wipe your pee of the seat with a wipe. And girls keep sitting tell you are done taking a pee don’t just get up in the middle of your pee and pee on the seat and have you ever heard of toilet paper that helps prevent pee getting on the seat too you know. There is a silver handle on the toilet seat for you too push down so that way you can say bye bye to you poop or pee. In the second layer of switches we have our distribution layer, made up of 5 switches, also with physical and logical redundancies. In the very top layer we have our core layer, made up of three switches. (Network Topology of Visio Document Attached to lab also.) Network Segmentation Our network segmentation will be handled via VLAN (Virtual Local Area networks) that we will manage in future design requirements. This should handle our properly segmenting our cameras from our different departments/workgroups. (Printers, Servers, Users, etc.). Network Size and Scope Devry is looking to setup a network that can handle 150 cameras and provide connectivity for 120 existing users, printers, and servers, with 20% expansion. With that, we took into assumption that that would mean 150 cameras would be connected immediately, with the ability to handle another 30 in the future, totaling 180 cameras. Then we would need to handle 120 existing devices with enough to handle an additional 24 for future expansion. Our Total network will need to handle 324 devices. Our Infrastructure Support Access Layer: When looking at our 324 devices, we could see that we may be able to accommodate this many ports by...

Heat Transfer Basics

...information about heat. Heat as some of you may know flows from an area of higher temperature to a region of lower temperature. Heat can also be made to flow from a cooler area to a hotter area in order to do this function; heat is controlled via a system such as a heat pump. Heat is basically made up of molecules as most anything. Molecules are constantly moving so the hotter something maybe the faster the molecules are moving. Eventually, they move at the same speed which means that any object that is hot will become cold. As mentioned previously heat moves from one object to another in three ways: conduction, convection, and radiation. Conduction is when the energy from the heat travels from one object to another by direct contact between the molecules. Heat is transfer between the molecules without the movement of matter itself. An example would be if you burned you hand by Heat Transfer: Conduction, Convection, & Radiation 3 attempting to handle a hot pan without a holder. The heat...

Demonstrative Project

...(8”-9” diameter) • A small piece of wool fabric Attach a Styrofoam strip (1” wide) to the center of the aluminum pie plate on the inside surface of the aluminum plate. This strip will work as a handle. You could also tape an inverted Styrofoam cup on the side to act as a handle. This works best on a cool dry day. If it is too hot and humid it will not work well. Humidity is the enemy of static electricity! Procedure Tape one Styrofoam plate in an upside down position on a table or desktop. Use two small pieces of clear tape at opposite edges. I) Rub the top of the Styrofoam plate with wool or rub across the back of the Styrofoam plate using the sleeve of your sweater. The Styrofoam plate is now charged because electrons from the wool have traveled to the Styrofoam plate. Lift up the aluminum plate with its Styrofoam handle and set it on the taped Styrofoam plate. • What do you feel when you touch the aluminum plate? II) Now lift up the aluminum plate by the handle and touch it with your other hand. • What happens? • What causes this to happen? • What happens if you set the aluminum plate back on the Styrofoam plate? • Why do you think this happens? III) Next take the second Styrofoam plate and rub the bottom with your sweater sleeve or wool. Try setting this second plate on top of the upside down taped Styrofoam plate that has been charged by rubbing. • What do you notice? • What causes this to happen? Descriptive Essay

...soon become apparent to me that this place was special. As I walked closer the smell becomes more pungent, the intensity of it increases. The closer I get the addiction to the smell comes over me, wanting more the closer I move. The smell isn’t helped by the sea breeze blowing head on like a snowball being thrown into your face. It’s cold. As I close my eyes I can hear the slow and monotonous drone of the wind turbines. I’m knee depth in the long green grass that sways from side to side in the wind. From time to time you’ll just see the tip of my dogs head as she jumps above the top of the grass. Beyond the grass is a path where cyclists race along. All you hear as they pass by is the music blaring from their headphones as they compete individually against each other. Walking over the path I move closer to the edge of the cliff so that I can take in the spectacle of what this place is. From the top of the cliff the sand sparkles as the sunlight briefly breaks through the thick layer of cloud overhead. The light hits pale white cliff face and reflects off as if it has hit a mirror. I look down and see the small jagged rocks opening up to create a pathway down to the glistening sand. My dog sprints pass my leg with one goal on making it to the sand before me. I step down after my dog and the wind suddenly dies down. The heat from the sun intensifies and feeling of warm rushes through my body. The smell is now my addiction as I inhale more air with every breath. As my foot hits...

How to Make Scramble Egg

...or rubbery. Mix well until the color and texture are uniform throughout. Add salt and pepper to season, if desired. Select the right sized pan for the number of eggs you will scramble. Two eggs will require a very small pan, while a dozen eggs requires a much larger one. Heat a pat of butter (2 teaspoons), bacon grease or oil in a frying pan. Move the pan by its handle, so that the melted fat glides around the surface and coats the entire pan. Flick some tap water onto the skillet from your fingertips to test the heat. When small droplets sizzle and evaporate, the pan is just hot enough to pour in the egg mixture. Continue to whisk as you pour the egg mixture into the pan. Set the burner on low. Watch that as the eggs start to cook, the mixture solidifies. As soon as this starts happening, move the mixture around the pan with a spatula to scrape the cooked eggs from the bottom to the top of the mixture and expose the still-wet portions to the heat. This keeps the eggs from developing a leathery brown skin on the bottom. Look to see if your eggs are almost cooked; when they are, take them off the heat, as the hot pan will continue to cook them. If you prefer drier-textured eggs, leave them on the heat as required. Your eggs are done after there's no liquid of any kind left in the skillet. Remove your eggs from the pan before they lose their moist appearance. You can also add strips of cheese to the eggs to get a more vibrant flavor out of them. Make sure to add cheese...
