Title : Tourism in the United Kingdom

Abstract

Twenty respondents were surveyed using several questions related to reasons why they came to the U.K. The results indicate they came to study, work and visit. Some of them came for an unlimited stay. Moreover the survey asked about how tourism in the U.K attracts foreigners, which counties they prefer and which kind of transport they like. This will lead to understand the important factors which can make the United Kingdom a popular country globally.

1. Background

The number of foreign residents has been increasing in the United Kingdom year by year. Visiting, education and work are the factors which bring foreign people to the U.K. However, the United Kingdome is the most famous country for tourism among those who care about tourism because of its history, culture and unique tourist sites, such as those in London. Furthermore, there are some details which should be known about tourism , such as , the average age of people who come to the U.K, where they come from, the reasons for coming, some favourite places and transport.
Moreover, the questionnaire surveyed their opinion about which counties are the most interesting in the United Kingdom. And towns which they have visited except Guildford.

2. Aims

The purpose of this research was first to investigate why foreign people come to the United Kingdom. Secondly, to know where a representative sample of people come from. Thirdly, to know the average age of those people. A final aim was to find out where they prefer to spend their time on holiday and which kind of transport they use.

3. Method

3.1 The sample
The sample size was 20. These respondents were selected from a variety of ages, continents and purpose of their stay. They were all in town of Guildford.
