What B-Schools teach which they shouldn’t?
The increasing levels of competition among the students leads to the creation of a Superiority complex among few individuals who tend to become dominating at times, which greatly hampers the group dynamics and morale of others. There is an overdose of curriculum within a stipulated time period hampering the understanding of the subjects. This necessitates the system to be more flexible in allowing the students to choose among the subjects as per their preference. Focus should be to understand whatever one studies rather than getting overburdened with more number of subjects.

What B-Schools don’t teach which they should?
Organizational Commitment: It is the individual's psychological attachment to the organization. The level of Organizational Commitment an individual has reflects in his job performance in the organization. B-schools today have become a means of getting a fat paycheck at the end of the two years without being able to foster a sense of belongingness towards the institute. It wouldn’t be surprising to know that many MBA students today would not be aware of their B-School’s Mission, Vision and Values. This needs to be given importance so that the student understands and reflects the same in whichever organization he joins. CSR as a mandatory course should also be included to facilitate development of the society where we thrive and this would also give the students a sense of commitment towards the society. There is a strong need to encourage entrepreneurial spirits among the students so that they become self employed rather than getting overly obsessed with the

There have been some studies in the past few years regarding grade inflation in American universities and colleges and the affects it might be having on a student’s grade point average (GPA) and on the institutions grading system itself (Abbott, 2008) (Jewell & McPherson, 2012) (Miller, 2014). Some studies have shown that the trend of grade inflation started in the 1960’s (Jewell & McPherson, 2012). A popular theory is that the Vietnam War, which was highly unpopular at the time, played a major role in grade inflation (Miller, 2014). It is believed that sympathetic college professors gave their students higher grades to keep them from being drafted into the military. By having the students keep a higher GPA the students were then able to keep their draft deferments, thus allowing them to avoid the draft and prevent them from being deployed to Vietnam (Miller, 2014). After the Vietnam War the average GPA seemed to stabilize itself for a few years. However the trend of rising GPA’s started to climb again in the 1980’s and the trend has not gone down since then. With the new format and the blunders of CAT 2009, all has been ensured that CAT loses its edginess and is no longer one of the most ‘feared’ examinations around. The hype did contribute to no. of applications. But the age of hype is over. Vendors have messed up and been shuffled around. The online CAT is still evolving and nowhere close to the GMAT pattern that it so miserably tries to emulate. It is no longer a pencil-paper test and draws only crowds from metros (close to 70%) with reports suggesting that an online CAT repels students from smaller towns and villages. Adding to the misery is the fact that acing the CAT doesn’t guarantee you squat. You could make headlines for being a 100 percentile-guy, but pray to God that you don’t make another headline that says, “Now, IIMs don’t even want their100-percentile guys”.
