Let’s first identify and discuss the factors that limit access of Americans to healthcare. We also need to identify the specific groups and populations that face difficulties with that accesccess to healthcare, if we are to expect to remain successful. http://www.loudoun.gov/oswm/recycle/index.htm The Session Long Project (SLP) for this course is the development of a position paper on a topic related to this course. The position paper has to address an issue and you have to take a position on it -- either "for" or "against" the issue. Another way to describe this SLP is that you must take a position and argue either the "pros" or "cons" of the issue.
You will find that the most difficult aspect of this assignment is to identify an issue on which a clear position may be taken. An example would be that you are against the use of nuclear power plants to produce energy to meet this country's growing demand. You could also take the position that you believe that it is sound public policy to use nuclear power to meet our energy demands. The point is that you have taken a position on an issue. Once you have identified an issue and have taken a position on it you must argue your position in a position paper. Confused? E-mail me and I'll clarify the SLP. Here's the specific SLP requirements:
• The SLP is due at the end of the sixth module (Module Six is a one week module).
• The topic selected for a position must be related to one of the topics covered in this course.
• Module 1 Requirement -- Submit your position paper topic to me for approval. Be specific. This is to ensure that your position paper topic is actually a worthwhile topic on an issue.
• Modules 2 thru 5 should be spent researching and developing your position.
• If you have a draft completed or in rough form between Modules 3 and 5 you may send it to me through CourseNet for constructive comments. All Position papers submitted after the first week of Module 5 will be considered as you final SLP.
• Length of position paper -- The final position paper shall not be less than 2½ pages with a 12 pt. font.
• Grade is based on strength of argument and how well the paper is written.

Waste Water Management

...Water Quality; Wastewater Management Water Treatment Charles E. Best, Jr TUI University BHE 314 / Module 3 Case December 22, 2010 Professor Dr. Nathaniel Ofoe With the United States growing and cities becoming larger and larger day by day, communities have been battling water shortages all throughout the country. For the past fifty or so years reclaimed water has been used all over the world. Within the course of this case paper I will attempt to compare and contrast the secondary water treatment methods to that of the tertiary water treatment methods. Wastewater treatment is classified as primary, secondary, and tertiary treatment; this is the process of how wastewater actually becomes recycled water. The primary treatment process is the initial stage or in other words the beginning of how organic and inorganic solids are removed via sedimentation and flotation. During this initial stage approximately 40-60% of suspended solids and raw sewage are collected in sedimentation tanks and 25-35% of the biochemical oxygen demand (BOD) is removed from the waste stream. During the secondary treatment the out flowing from the primary treatment process contains residual organic and inorganic material. Secondary treatment systems will remove between 80-95% of suspended solids and (BOD) through two methods known as attached growth and suspended growth. Finally we are at the tertiary treatment process also known as the polishing process where treated...
