A tunnel is an underground passageway, completely enclosed except for openings for egress, commonly at each end. Tunneling job is addictive. For those who been working underground, closer to mother nature of the earth would not want to be seated in an air conditioned environment. The tittle is Thrill of the drill by the Allon Koay. He is a journalist at The Star Publications, The article is from The Star newspaper on 4th july 2011. The article is to enrich the knowledge about tunneling and together along of the MMC-Gamuda tunneling team’s achievement.
Tunneling is one thing for which we can proudly say, we have among the best and the brightest that are fully home grown which is none other than the M’sia MMC Gamuda. Changes are also made to the TBM machine that has been bought from Germany to suit the country’s soil condition. The author is happy about M’sian team of having expertise is such field. Building the largest or tallest or the most advanced is only a part whereby the tunneling part is proudly taken over by expertise in Malaysia with of course the help of foreign talent too. The author is in two state of neither supporting the article content. He tells that foreign talent are equally important too in achieving success. After going through 10 years of tunneling experience, the team had learnt the curves thus the people in work knows the right method to use on right conditions. The author even though is neither in supporting state, its still clear that he indirectly supported the content. The tunneling is an addictive job experience whereby those team working underground had good bond which are difficult to break even after long term and those who faced it would not want to be seated in air conditioned office suit. The author is telling that tunneling job is a very good bond lasting come experience fun filled which workers of regular office time would not get it. Each project and soil condition is different so that when we drive through tunnel, we would be wanting to reach the end. The author here is telling tat tunneling job worker may face soil of different condition. In addition he also tells about feelings of driver when going through a tunnel is which just left hanging with connection to the first part point of different soil conditions. The completion of Sungai Selangor Dam Diversion Tunnel followed by the Stormwater Management And Road Tunnel (SMART) which is been classified as world class engineering ment for unique purpose. The author is supporting the content by providing real achieved projects which are being utilized by the Malaysian citizens. Following the past projects which are completed, the upcoming is the Klang Valley Mass Rapid Transit project which will commence end of this year. The author is saying that the next big project would be Kland MRT project which is also been told by other newscasters and online publications and that’s backs the credibility of the author’s article and its content.
The tunneling job is addictive and interesting been working underground. Allon Koay failed to show the level of danger associated with tunneling. He provided the statement from the worker that tunneling is addictive but not about the risk level in it.
This articles is good to be recommended to all age types. Its filled with information but then the author said that those work down ther would not want to work in office. That’s not true since there are some of them which wanted a regular office time so they can have a good time with family and friends unlike the tunneling job schedule which mostly working all the time.
