To many school- aged children, school is an all-consuming place that engulfs phases of your youthful life, between the ages of five and eighteen, or even longer. While looking from a youth’s point of view, school is a miserable source of confinement that is forced by law, and must be tolerated. When the enduring ceases to exist, and the law is not abided, it results in the conviction of the child’s parent; as well as a child in a juvenile detention center.
Despite the negative view of education and school, many students show neglect to the fact that schools are also a standardized source of culture, as well as subcultures. Based on the Merriam- Webster Dictionary definition, subculture is defined as, “a group that has beliefs and behaviors that are different from the main groups within a culture or society.” …show more content…
During my interim period, I chose a local Northport area high school that goes by the name of Tuscaloosa County High School. Within this school, there is a wide variety of club and organizations with strong standing missions. With thorough investigation, the organization that caught my eye was the Tuscaloosa County High School Drama Department, with concentration on the theater kids, in general.
Before meeting the class formerly, I was allowed prior contact with the Drama Department’s director, Mrs. Sherry Bellan. During my meeting, Mrs. Bellan gave me foreknowledge of her department, and how she viewed the students that were in it; given aid of the presentation, I hoped to share with her skilled class, later in the research/ investigation period. While in my meeting with Mrs. Bellan, she compared the stereotypical examples of theater kids in my presentation, and said that the picture of the theater kids from Glee cast mostly represented her
