Music in My Life

...For a young person with little experience, music can be a hard concept, especially singing. At the age of nine, I stepped into the field of music. Little did I know that it would be life-changing. My story begins in 2001. My mother asked if I would be interested in singing. I hadn’t given it much thought. She suggested I join the Phoenix Boys Choir. She explained what it was and how successful it had always been. I decided to try out. When I arrived, I met the conductor in charge of the younger boys. She had me sing “Twinkle Twinkle Little Star.” A few moments later the conductor announced that I had passed my audition and would soon be a member of the training choir. I was so thrilled I couldn’t say a word. This would turn out to be one of the most memorable moments of my life. I was going to be a member of the internationally known Phoenix Boys Choir! I moved up through the levels of the choir quickly. Every boy longs to be in the most elite group – the Tour Choir. After two years, I made it. At 11 I had learned more about music than I could possibly have imagined. I learned music theory and how to read music. By the end of seventh grade I had been to Spain, Italy, and France. In Rome we performed at Saint Peter’s Basilica. It was a blessing to be able to sing in such a holy setting. We also sang in the Florence Cathedral. We traveled around the United States performing with other choirs. Often we sang for dignitaries. I think God blessed me with this talent...

...grab an instrument. The types of instruments she had were drums, the triangle, maracas, small cymbals, and rain sticks. After they all had an instrument she had them all start playing the instruments for about a minute and then she had them change instruments with another kid in the class. It got a little crazy but they all looked like they were having a good time. After the all got to play two instruments she had all the kids put the instruments back where they are suppose to go then back to the circle. When they got back to the circle the teacher went on the smart board that they have and she pulled up a bunch of songs that they could sing and dance along too. Some of the songs she pulled up were “Head Shoulders Knees and Toes”, “Twinkle Twinkle Little Star” and “The Itsy Bitsy Spider”. For each one of those songs that she would sing with the kids she would have hand movements so they would sit still. The kids were very involved in what they were told to do. The part of the music lesson they loved the most was when they were singing the songs and doing the hand motions along with the song. They looked like they were very interested in it. The teacher had all the kids doing everything as I said when they were playing the instruments everyone got an instrument and started playing and when they...

Phuongthao

...SUPERTHAO Nineteen years ago, in a far far away land, the most beautiful woman gave birth to the most incredible girl. Ta dahh! That’s me! There are many shades of me, but I won’t go into them all. I’ll be covering four areas that are important: personal detail, my personality, my hobby, and my rule in life. Now let’s go into details. First, about my appearance, I just get through the description of my face, because of course, I have all necessary parts as a normal human’s supposed to have. Doesn’t matter how lovely face we own, “Manners Maketh Man.”(Kingsman Film). So I move on some mathematical numbers of my body instead. My measurement is 83-62-90. Evolutionary psychologist Devendra Singh theorized that those numbers were a significance of female attractiveness. Due to that concept, absolutely I would be a hot girl but only I were taller. My height is just 1.50 metres, even less than an average height in Vietnam (1.53 metres). Let’s forget all those beauty standards and pay attention to my waist and hip ratio (WHR), 62-90. The WHR has been used as an indicator of the health, and the risk of developing serious health conditions. “Research shows that people with “apple-shaped” bodies (with more weight around the waist) face more health risks than those with “pear-shaped” bodies who carry more weight around the hips.” (Wikipedia). Oh yeah! My pears-shaped body! I’m healthier! I’m so proud of my body. Second, I want to discuss about my personality based on Big Five. There...

Underlying all these purposes is a basic concern for improving teaching and learning. Beyond Twinkle Twikle

...Beyond Twinkle, Twinkle While reading this article it makes you think what you do when you listen to music as an adult and everything applies the same to you as it does an infant. When you think about all of the songs we listen to daily they impact the way we feel throughout the day; and when you trying to learn something it is so much easier to put it to the music of your favorite song, because everything connects it clicks in your head and makes you feel like this is so easy. Can you imagine as a toddler or baby and that feeling that they get when they realized they have figured it out! They are the happiest little people in the world. Just to know you can do that with just the power of music! Blue Ocean Strategy Mkt 421

...Blue Ocean Strategy Paper 01/05/15 MKT/421 Blue Ocean Strategy – Introduction When a company is about to enter the market, they typically spend their time trying to create a strategy to overcome their competitors that already exist in the market. In the book Blue Ocean Strategy authors W. Chan Kim and Renée Maugorgne explain how to create your own blue ocean. A blue ocean is the complete opposite of the existing red oceans in the market that quickly drown a new company before they can gain success. Basing their studies on 150 strategic business moves that stretch over 300 years and 30 different industries. Kim and Mauborgne express the importance of 6 principles a company needs in order to create their own blue ocean. The six principles show how to reconstruct market boundaries, focus on the big picture, reach beyond existing demand, get the strategic sequence right, overcome organizational hurdles, and build execution into strategy (Blue Ocean Strategy, 2014). What is Blue Ocean Strategy in Marketing? The Blue Ocean Strategy is essentially creating your own unique market where you have absolutely no competitors therefore creating your own demand from consumers. This strategy is important because it has been proven to be wildly successful and is trending in all types of industries, meaning this strategy isn’t going away and it is a proven strategy, especially in the ever changing and expanding tech industry. In a ‘blue ocean’ a company doesn’t need strategize on...

Our sun is a medium-sized star.  Stars can live for billions of years. A star is born when an enormous cloud of hydrogen gas collapses until it is hot enough to burn nuclear fuel (producing tremendous amounts heat and radiation). As the nuclear fuel runs out (in about 5 billion years), the star expands and the core contracts, becoming a giant star which eventually explodes and turns into a dim, cool object (a black dwarf, neutron star, or black hole, depending on its initial mass). Jhumpa Lahiri Relationships

...is now a passive quality to their relationship that takes away life’s luster for both of them. This is the basis for the marriage decaying after three years of union. The lack of communication, enforced by their inability to talk about their trauma, dramatically changes the dynamic of the marriage into a silent struggle. Indulging in conversations becomes a dreaded obstacle for both of them and they both are too detached to attempt to cure the malady; “They weren’t like this before. Now he had to struggle to say something that interested her, something that made her look up from her plate, or from her proofreading files. Eventually he gave up trying to amuse her. He learned not to mind the silences” (Lahiri 12). In “This Blessed House”, Twinkle and Sanjeev share the same malady of marriage as Shoba and Shukumar, the breaking down of communication. This causes the inability to compromise. For example, there is a scene in the story where...

Concert

...Sammy Stengart Concert I attended the Pascack hills concert in Montvale, New Jersey on 12/3/2014. This concert included a band and a choir. There were about 10 different pieces played by the band. Three of the pieces were also sung by the choir along with the band. The ensemble pieces are the ones that stood out the most to me. They were Twinkle Twinkle Little Star, September, and Lux Nova. This stood out to me as a unique combination of music. There many instruments involved including trumpets, flutes, oboes, clarinets, French horns, drums, trombones, tubas, and a keyboard. September was a piece that involved many different instruments. It was a piece for which the whole band really needed to work hard together to get it correct. The instrument that stood out to me the most and seemed to play the melody of this piece was the trumpet. This was a piece that the crowd responded extremely loudly to and enjoyed tremendously. The band actually played this piece almost to perfection except it was obvious that the percussion section was a little bit out of sync. Overall, I enjoyed this performance tremendously. I felt as if the band worked hours and days in order to ensure that they played these pieces at an optimal level. The crowd responded well to the performance and gave the band and choir members a very loud round of applause. It was impressive to say the least how these two groups were able to be in such sync with each other throughout the whole performance. It...

Then they accepted her in to the party, Alice said it's a very enjoyable Birthday Party, but then said it's not a birthday party, but an unbirthday party, but Alice didn’t understand it, then they explained her what's an unbirthday is. Then they got to know that it's an unbirthday of Alice too. So, they celebrate it by singing a song. Then Mad hatter takes out a cake out of his hat. When Alice blew the candle, it goes p like a firework, and Dormouse comes out of it and he’s falling with the aid of a little umbrella, singing Twinkle,Twinkle. By watching this video, we can obviously see that how successful Disney was, converting the novel into a cartoon. The expressions and acts of the characters that can be seen it this video, show us a great humor which sometimes we can’t get by reading a text. We can also see many nonsense and unrealistic things, such as dancing tea pots, creating a cake out of a hat etc and the way Mad hatter and March Hare talk is simply...

Themes of Interpreter of Maladies

...Themes of “Interpreter of Maladies” In the “Interpreter of Maladies” different themes are used throughout the story. The use of these different themes enables the reader to become aware of what the author is trying to get across to he or she. The themes in “Interpreter of Maladies” include marriage/love, communication, and environment/nature. With each taking on a role of its own, the story becomes both compelling and informative. Marriage and love comes across as complicated in the story. A marriage is known to be the start of a beautiful partnership between two people who love each other. In “Interpreter of Maladies” marriage is just that but also much more. It is secrets, regret, and mystery. Although Twinkle and Sanjeev are married under their own free will it comes across, as the two are strangers. No matter the romantic feelings that come about the couple remains individuals in their own right. As a direct result Sanjeev is regretting the love he has for his wife. Although as it progresses the narrator shows us that distance can sometimes be closed by shared experiences. When Shukumar and Shoba deal with the death of their child, the bond between the two strengthens. The story shows us that love can be found in the most unexpected ways and can alter in the event of a joint experience. The lack of communication weighs on several characters throughout the story. While Shukumar and Shaba are individually consumed by their own grief they fail to communicate...
