Type 4 Career Research Paper

Type 4 - Career Narrative I have spent many years, often unknowingly, exploring career options. Only recently the searches have become more than innocent curiosity and with a real intention behind them. After researching and exploring, I have come to realize that something I had always overlooked was the perfect career opportunity for me. What was that opportunity? Technology. The career I aim to have is that of a computer programmer, accordingly, I have chosen this career based on my own interests as well as talents that I have recognized within myself such as a natural intuition when handling technology, problem solving skills, and more. The job of a computer programmer interests me most on the subject of creating and tuning code to then …show more content…
What do they program, exactly? To be a computer programmer generally involves writing and testing code, which is defined as a ‘language’ that allows computer applications and software programs to function properly. They, additionally, turn designs into instructions for computers, testing newly created apps and programs to ensure that they function properly. Alternatively, if the programs don’t function as they should, the programmers are generally tasked with finding the mistakes and correcting them if possible. As a more defined list, computer programmers write, update, test, and fix existing programs, create and test code, and use code libraries, which are just convenient ways to package and reuse different components. The most noted skills that one should possess to pursue this career are analytical and troubleshooting skills. Specifically, analytical skills are necessary to understand complex instructions in order to create computer code. Luckily, this is a skill that I have. When looking at code, I see the components as pieces of a puzzle which I can then put together. Troubleshooting skills are then an important asset to have, as one of the main duties of a computer programmer is to check the code for errors and fix any that they find. I know that I possess this skill, as seen through personal experience when I have been able to find and correct not only my own errors in code, but mistakes made by others as well. …show more content…
Many companies who hire programmers are hiring overseas where wages are lower, which is fairly easy due to how simple it is to code just about anywhere with a computer. Despite these disadvantages, job prospects will be best for programmers with a bachelor’s degree or higher with knowledge of a variety of programming languages. Additionally, being willing to keep up with growing languages and other tools is expected to increase your chances of landing the job. In the hopes of preparing for this career and giving myself the best possible opportunity, I have already begun furthering my knowledge on the subject by not only delving into my web page design class, but learning deeper aspects of HTML (used in web page design) and other coding languages such as Lua. I plan to utilize Lua to the best of my ability while researching other languages to familiarize myself as much as possible with such a large variety of code. Once entering college, I will then proceed to take classes specifically geared towards computer programming to further increase my knowledge of the subject as well as my talents in the area, ultimately aiming to reach a bachelor’s degree with a major in computer science. I am sure that it will not be an easy road to reach my goal of becoming a computer programmer. But, I know that through hard work, determination, and commitment, I will be able to achieve whatever I set

Factors of Career Choices as Determined by External Milieus

...FACTORS OF CAREER CHOICES AS DETERMINED BY EXTERNAL MILIEUS A Micro Research Paper Arabia, Lord Mark Anthony M. Villones, Wilson C. ED 4 Educational Research and Evaluation Masilang, Judy Marcia M. 22 March 2012 THE RESEARCH PROBLEM Career choice is an ongoing process, needs in-depth study, and requires much thought as it a decision that affects your future. As you learn new things you get an understanding of what you are interested in, what you would enjoy doing and what will be one of the best paying options. Career planning is a never-ending process as you gain experiences, grow, and improve. You need to give it a thought (Koonar, 2009). And there would always be a time that students will definitely begin to discern their future career. When the students reached this point, they now start to solicit ideas of what course to be selected as an embodiment of their future career. However, though most of them solicit ideas from the people who are learned in a particular discerning situation, they usually end up selecting their own choices (Polistico, 2009). When they fail to choose what their hearts desire, then would most likely shift course and end up the college level doubling the time intended for the particular course. The purpose of the study is to determine if career choice is really determined by the external milieus to which the students used to live. Furthermore, it seeks primarily to explore the extent of how these external factors could predict students’...

...Career Research Paper I have designed this assignment as a step by step guide to walk my students through the research process. Of course, you may adjust it as you feel is necessary according to the level of students you are working with. This project explains in detail everything they need to research, as well as, giving them real world insight into what to expect in a career in terms of education, job duties and responsibilities and income. I begin by having them take a reality check quiz on the Jump Start Coalition website. This little quiz helps them determine how much money they will need to earn in order to live the lifestyle they would like to have. This income amount in turn helps open their eyes to the type of job necessary to achieve that income and what amount of education is involved. It was a real wake up call for many of my students. In this package I have also included a grading rubric for the project and a list of possible career choices for their assignment. ...RESEARCH PAPER TOPICS – BA 453 HRM The primary objective of your paper is to do “research” in a specific area of HRM. Such research requires the formation of a “research question” with a narrow focus to facilitate in-depth exploration and often entails a blend of field and literary research. You can elect to do primarily field or literary research. Some suggested topics are below, but you are encouraged to find one which excites your intellect and/or is relevant to your future business career. FIELD RESEARCH – requires contacting a company or companies, identifying their current HR policy issues or HR concerns, selecting only one, developing a list of interview questions based on a brief review of research in that HR area, and then conducting an interview to explore the matter in depth. It is NOT merely a report of the conversational narrative of the interview. It is a thorough critique with recommendation for improvement. 1. Critique a current HR policy or issue in a specific company and make recommendations for improvement. Examples of policies are: recruiting, hiring, orientation, training, succession planning, career planning, team development, performance review, equal employment opportunity, pay incentives, a specific type of employee benefit or perk, corrective/disciplinary action, OSHA compliance, and safety recognition. 2. Identify an appropriate individual; (not a relative, a professor or another student) who holds an HR position with responsibilities in the area you are researching. Don't be timid about asking - companies are usually very receptive to students. Schedule a 20-30 minute interview with them. Don't wait until the last minute for this - interviews sometimes must be rearranged to accommodate travel schedules, emergencies and other priorities - give yourself plenty of leeway! 4. Develop appropriate interview questions. The questions must be in written form and a copy of your questions will need to be attached to your paper as an appendix. You'll probably want to read up on your subject before you formulate the questions. Motivation b. Job satisfaction c. Turnover Intention Some mediator factors identified by us which can affect the relationship between career stagnation and identified parameters are: 1. Gender 2. Educational Background 3. Age In the common pyramid-shaped organisations majority of the individuals face a point where hierarchical advancements seem unlikely. In such a situation we say that the employee has hit a career plateau or that his career has stagnated. In some situations although the employee has hit a plateau he/she still continues to do his/her job efficiently with no decrease in output. However , for some employees the career plateau may adversely impact job satisfaction, motivation, willingness to stay in the organisation ,etc. It is the latter case also known as the “deadwoods” who need extra attention from the management and our study focuses on analysing the effects of career stagnation on these three variables. In our research we might also find differences...

Therefore, when I started looking into the types of careers I wanted to be in the medical field seemed like the perfect choice for me. Choosing a career in the medical field would give me the opportunity to help others. Now being of age and knowing what a real superhero is and those who make a difference in this world I feel I’ve made the right choice. The three careers in this field that I chose to explore further are medical administrative assistant, clinical medical assistant, and medical coding and billing. I’ve done some research and I would like to take this time to request for reimbursement for my continued education, since our company has this program.
