In this task, I will be recommending ways in which CWC should further develop its activities in the light of political, legal and social pressures.

Legal Factors (CWC)
• Health and Safety Act 1974
By the Health and safety act, City of Westminster College needs to make sure that all their employees and students are safe in the building. The college created a policy for students and their stuff to keep them in safe.
In this college, they need to make sure that all their students and staff are safe from any danger. The needed to create the policies and hired and trained the right people to take care of the ones who study and work there. One example can be when a fire happens, all the alarms in the college rings and the staff responsible for the health and safety of the college takes all the people outside so that everyone is safe.
Recommendation: CWC should also provide their students with health and safety training so that they can have a better understanding of how it works and how to proceed if anything happens.
• Data Protection Act 1998
This act is protecting everyone’s personal information in the college. The college asks for a proof of the owner of the information to give it to specific person or anyone.
City of Westminster College need to ensure that all the information that they hold is private. They train their staff so that they will keep all the information from students safe from any theft and also provide them with a suitable software so that all the data is safe.
Recommendation: The College should help the students to understand the importance of keeping information safe, so that they can apply it in their day-by-day and job. But one disadvantage about this training, is that it can be expensive for the college to train all students.
• Equality Act 2010
This act gives equal chances for everyone who would like to learn or work in the college. For example, the college has facilities for disable people, which means that it cannot be a reason for not accepting the candidate.
This affects CWC directly because they needed to adapt the college in order to satisfy everyone. For example, they have created ramps and elevators for people with certain disabilities - such as wheelchairs - in order to let them study there.
Recommendation: CWC should advertise it more on their website that they have facilities for all the people and provide all the support needed for new employees and students. For example, they should advertise the events that they have that promote equality.
Social Factors (CWC)
• Culture
In City of Westminster College teachers are trying to make classes with different cultures. This is because they would like students to know more about other cultures by making friendships in classes.
The teachers need to be aware of the wide range of cultures and backgrounds in the college and need to teach every student to respect everyone, since people are singular individuals.
Recommendation: City of Westminster College should make a fair, which would have a stand of every country around the world, and the students could get to know more about other cultures in a practical way.
• Race and Nationality
Race and nationality is a social factor because everyone is different in terms of colour, race, and nationalities. This social factor affects college in a good way because only by this factor they teach students about other cultures and races.
Like the culture factor, the college needed to adapt itself and research about the different nationalities present in the institute. They must teach the students that everyone is equal and should be respected no matter which race or nationality they are.
Recommendation: The College could provide a little booklet with interesting facts about other countries, making it fun for the youth to get to know more about other nationalities.
• Increasing use of Technology
This social factor is all about modern and new developed technology. For City of Westminster College this factor has a huge effect as well as others. Technology is one of the main things why many students are coming to this college. In addition, it makes easier for students in terms of education and studying.
As the technology is improving every day, City of Westminster College needed to update their technological machines. They provide their students with the best computers nowadays (iMacs), printers, scanners and a wide range of softwares, each one suitable for each course; such as art & design and business. They have also created and improved their website, in order to attract new students and provide them with enough information of what CWC is offering in terms of education.
Recommendation: CWC could buy more laptops with higher quality to provide their students with a better tool for their education. The only disadvantage about that, is that it can be quite expensive for the organisation.

Political Factors (CWC)
• Tax Policy
The government sets and controls taxes. They have a full right to increase and decrease taxes. If taxes increase then it affects college in a negative way. The college will not get enough money, which means less funding for them. In that case they need to budget themselves and spend less money. If taxes goes down it affects this organisation in a positive way, which means they will get more funding and it can be spend on various things to improve and support college activities.
The college needed to ensure that they would be aware of any changes in the taxes, because the government controls it. They needed to do it because their funding comes from the government and if affects directly this organisation.
Recommendation: CWC should be prepared for changes, and make sure that they can have another source of capital in case the taxes go up. They do that by using the forecast accounts sheet.
• Equal Pay 1970
Equal Pay 1970 is all about paying equally to everyone. No matter what age or gender the employee is, he/she should get the same amount of money as the rest of employees. If the government decides to make some changes it will affect the college in both ways- positive and negative, it all depends on a change.
City of Westminster College needed to ensure that all the people hired by the organisation was being paid equally accordingly to their job position.
Recommendation: CWC should make a questionnaire and offer it to the employees in order to find out if they are satisfied with the treatment/salary that they are getting from this organisation/government.
• Equality Act 2010
This act is all about equality between people, everyone must be treated equally, no matter what gender, culture, nationally, and colour or age they are. It affects college in a good way because this act protects people under discrimination or any other unfair behaviour or actions towards them.
By this act, the college needed to ensure that everyone in the organisation – students and employees – were treated fairly and were not bullied by others. The college created a specific department that helps people that are experiencing bullying in the college and the people who are discriminating others get a written warning, because the college does not tolerate any type of unfair treatment.
Recommendation: The College could make a little video or booklet about how different people are and how amazing it is to be like that. This would attract people from our age and make them understand that there is nothing wrong with being different.

...Amazon is an example of one ecommerce organisation which allows users to purchase products on there through paypal. This is now the most popular method of online transaction due to its simplicity, security and instant transfer. This is done by the user transferring their money into another users paypal account by digital transferring it. This may also make customers feel safer and more comfortable with buying online as they don’t require inserting their bank details into various different websites as once they sign up through the paypal website it won’t be required again as only the login of your paypal account is required for the transaction of money to occur between the buyer and seller online. NoChex is a payment service available on eBay which lets users gain and make payments securely to each other online through affordable transactions. This may also be done by transferring money from and to bank accounts by also transferring money to another users NoChex account without having to pay many fees when doing so. It may also be done when making payments for purchasing products off other users, but the transfer can only be made if both users have a NoChex account registered along with their credit or bank card details, as they will be put safely onto the account once so the transfer of money can be made efficiently and safely. Vitamin D Ehancement in Mushrooms

...Vitamin Supplement æ Increase of vitamin D2 by UV-B exposure during the growth phase of white button mushroom (Agaricus bisporus) Hanne L. Kristensen1*, Eva Rosenqvist2 and Jette Jakobsen3 1 Department of Food Science, Aarhus University, Aarslev, Denmark; 2Department of Agriculture and Ecology, Copenhagen University, Copenhagen, Denmark; 3National Food Institute, Technical University of Denmark, Copenhagen, Denmark Abstract Background: Mushrooms are the only non-animal food source of vitamin D. Wild mushrooms have naturally high vitamin D2 content, and cultivated mushrooms produce vitamin D2 from ergosterol when exposed to supplementary UV-B during the post-harvest phase. Objectives: This study investigated the effects of providing supplementary UV-B during the growth phase on vitamin D2 formation and the interactions with growth of mushrooms, as compared to supplementary UV-B during the post-harvest phase or exposure to sunlight for both cultivated and wild mushrooms. Methods: Experiments were carried out with exposure to supplementary UV-B just prior to harvest in the range of 0Á2,400 mJ cm (2. Mushrooms grew for 2 days with or without repeated UV-B exposure each day. Vitamin D2 and growth rate were determined. Some mushrooms were post-harvest treated by exposure at 200 mJ cm (2 supplementary UV-B or natural sunlight, prior to vitamin D2 determination. Results: The content of vitamin D2 was 0.2Á164 mg 100 g (1 fresh weight (FW), and there was a linear relationship between...
