Local Businesses

There are many organisations/businesses in this world that are for profit, making money by selling things and using the money to help them; however there are also some that are non-profitable, also known as charities, who get their money through donations or the government, and they spend it to help others. Some stores and charities are all over the world, having stores in multiple countries (international or global), however others only focus within one country (national) or a specific area (local). My two organisations/businesses are the NHS, non-profitable organisation, and Runner’s Retreat, a profitable organisation/business.

NHS
The National Health Service, or NHS for short, provide a comprehensive range of health services, the majority being free from the point of use for every UK resident, it only operates in the UK (National). Some of the services they offer are dental, GP’s, pharmacy etc…It only operates in the tertiary industrial sector, as they are providing the community with the services which means it runs in the public sector; however some parts are now in the private sector such as hospitals. The ownership could affect their business because the government are shutting down a lot of hospitals at the moment due to the costs, which is providing difficult for the citizens who live in the area of a hospital which is shutting down because they will have to travel further for their health care. The government have also set very high standards for the NHS, thy have to reach 90% or higher of answers to calls and getting to the scene within 8 minutes (depending what the incident is). This could affect them because if they do not reach these targets, they get into deep trouble and they get

The remaining 5.3% of the oil demand in 2010 is unknown and cannot be explained using the linear regression model Oil demand = 1 + (2*GDP) + Residual. Additionally, a $ USD 1,155.71 increase in a country’s GDP will lead to a 1,000 barrel per day increase in that country’s oil demand, assuming all other variables are held fixed. Figure 1. Oil consumption by country The graph above shows the predicted vs. actual oil consumption by country using GDP and oil consumed (‘000 barrel per day) data for 2010. Based from the above, the U.S. was the top oil consumer in 2010. It consumed 16.7 M barrels per day - exceeding the benchmark result from the regression analysis by 15% or 2.4 M barrels per day.
