This is used to sense the forced air flow going to the pulverizers where the coal is grounded into a very fine powder. This air is needed to seal the pulverizers and also to transfer the fine dust up to the nozzles to fuel the fire in the boiler. We had issues with this before and had maintenance fix it. Of course, afterwards, I made sure I knew what they did to correct it. Over this holiday weekend there was suppose to be a maintenance person on call. I called him and he said that he was not coming in until morning. It was 1:30 am and I explained to him it needed to be done or we were going to lose the unit.
