Design for Instruction

...Nathan Clark Design for Instruction Task The information gathered from my contextual factors and pre-assessment inform me of what type of students I will be teaching. The contextual factors help me to have a better understanding of the type of demographic my students belong to and what type of learning styles they attain. This information will also allow me to know of any outside characteristics that may inhibit learning for an individual student and the students as a whole. For example, some students may have learning disabilities and the student’s as a whole may react negatively to artworks involving polytheism. Giving the pre-assessment allowed me to fully understand what level my students are performing for that particular unit. I have found that I need to focus a lot of time on vocabulary definitions and how to apply the terms to artwork. Prompt Results of Pre-Assessment The students in this introductory level drawing class consists of students that are required to take this class as an elective or students who have an interest in drawing and wish to pursue it. The students in this class have limited experience with the concepts and skills in drawing. The pre-assessment results allow for an analysis of where the students are in terms of general knowledge. Cultural Activity

...Professor Renee Pistone December 7, 2014 Cultural activity has continued to be part be art of the human race since times in history. Due to a major role held by culture in shaping the society, various museums have been set up across the county for remembrance of various historical artifacts and other fine art works. In fulfillment of the assignment in this unit HUM 112, I visited the Metropolitan Museum of Art in Manhattan. The main aims of the visit are to identify the major artwork kept in the museum in addition to the influences of the intellectual, religious and socio-political forces on the arts. Moreover, it also recognizes the use of technology and information resources to research issues in the study of cultures. The visit involved recognition of the main artworks stored in the museum in addition to the selection of the two pieces of art that would be selected for being saved first in case of a fire outbreak. A visit to Metropolitan Museum of Art that houses more than two million artworks representing five thousand years of history carried out on 5th of December 2014 was used to aid in writing this report. The visit began with a brief look into the floor layout of the complex museum layout. As a result, this enabled the location of the most interesting artworks in the Museum. Additionally, a staff curator offered to give me a trip around the expansive museum explaining various facts around the museum. Among the key artworks that caught my eye includes...

Role of Defects in Vo2

...states and V–O coordination spheres. In VO2, we have V+4 and O-2 with coordination numbers of 6 and 3, respectively. Using Pauling electronegativities (V=1.6, O=3.5) we see that ΔE > 1.7, indicating ionic bonding. Indeed, this is the case in the monoclinic phase. However, since there is a difference in electronegativity, we know that the bond has polar character. As VO2 undergoes the MIT near the critical temperature Tc=68oC, it is accompanied by a structural transformation and a transition from ionic bonding to metallic bonding[1]. Below Tc, the semiconducting phase takes the monoclinic structure; above Tc the metallic phase takes the tetragonal structure (seen in Figure 1.). Figure 1. Metallic tetragonal phase VO2. Appreciation of Chinese Art and Design

...concept of symmetry is one of the most important aesthetic principles. Symmetrical beauty is derived from nature, i.e., law of nature in Taoism. The human body and almost all animals are symmetric, which shows a beauty of health and balance. Rather asymmetry leaves people an impression of displeasure. Symmetry is also the manifestation of Chinese philosophy of harmony and zhongyong (the Mean thought) in Confucianism. The aesthetic principle of symmetry in Chinese art is similar to the “Golden Rule” in the West, the aim of which is to achieve balance. This essay aims to discuss the aesthetic principle of symmetry used in Traditional Chinese Art and Design, including ancient Chinese Bronze artwork, ancient Chinese architecture and Chinese paper cutting. I. Symmetry in Ancient Chinese Bronze artwork Bronzes basically can be classified into four types in terms of function: food vessels, wine vessels, water vessels and musical instruments. Various shapes and designs can be found in each type, fully demonstrating the creativity and skills of the ancient people. Despite of this, symmetry was used as a universal basic aesthetic principle. Ancient Chinese bronzes stressed balance and symmetry of form, and communicated solemnity and ceremony. Among the various kinds of bronze vessels, ding is a significant category. Originally ding was used as food vessel and later evaluated to sacrificial vessel. Ding was describes as a kind vessel with three feet and two ears in Shuo Wen Jie Zi by...

Mktg306 - Individual Report: E-Marketing

...Executive Summary This report explores the relationship between the art industry and the internet, as well as examining the way in which the internet has changed the way the art industry operates. A critical analysis and comparison of the e-marketing mix strategies of Etsy and DeviantART was also made. The research draws attention to the shift from an industry with a high barrier to entry which used traditional forms of discovering, exhibiting and selling artworks, for example, art galleries, to an industry with a lower barrier to entry, changed by online platforms that allowed a greater number of artists and artworks to enter the market and created new ways in which both artists could sell their works and buyers could buy those works. The analysis of the e-marketing mix strategies of Etsy and DeviantArt found that Etsy and DeviantART catered to their consumers’ needs by the development of a marketplace and social networking platform, respectively. The analysis of their pricing strategies found that Etsy and DeviantART both utilized elements of fixed pricing and personalized pricing, but only Etsy using dynamic segmented pricing. The distribution strategies of Etsy and DeviantART did not include the use of intermediaries and products were sold directly to the consumers through websites and mobile technology. The communication strategies of Etsy and DeviantART were strong with a focus on the building of communities through owned, paid and earned media. ...
