An inconvenient truth (Report 2):- Nirmal Kumar Chaturvedi 0A40F004

Global warming is caused by human activity. Gore shows pictures of factories pumping out smoking gases and talks about how the greenhouse gases humans are pumping into the environment as well as the fires burning from deforestation are causing the warming.
China too is burning mountains of coal, using old technologies.
According to him cause of our ecological troubles is population pressure. The more people we have, the more pollution, CO2, methane, cars, airplanes, refrigerators, forest destruction. We put pressure on food, water, natural resources. More burning of forests. Tractors, refrigerators, detergents are more environmentally destructive human activities.

Impacts of global warming on climate of India:-
The effect of global warming on the climate of India has led to many climate disasters . India is a disaster prone area, with the statistics of 27 out of 35 states being disaster prone, with floods being the most frequent disasters. The process of global warming has led to an increase in the frequency and intensity of these climatic disasters.
According to surveys, in the year 2007-2008, India ranked the third highest in the world regarding the number of significant disasters, The anticipated increase in precipitation, the melting of glaciers and expanding seas have the power to influence the Indian climate negatively, with an increase in incidence of floods, hurricanes, and storms. A temperature increase of 2° C in India is projected to displace seven million people, with a submersion of the major cities of India like Mumbai and Chennai.
Recent climatic disasters in India due to global warming:- * FLOODS
India is the most flood distressed state in the world after Bangladesh, accounting for 1/ 5th of the global deaths every year with 30 million people displaced from their homes yearly. Approximately 40 million hectares of the land is vulnerable to floods, with 8 million hectares affected by it. Unprecedented floods take place every year at one place or the other, with the most vulnerable states of India being Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Assam, West Bengal, Gujarat, Orissa, Andhra Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Punjab and Jammu & Kashmir. The climatic history of India is studded with a very large number of floods, which have wreaked havoc on the country’s economy. * DROUGHTS
As explained above, the process of global warming has such an impact on the climate that it increases the severity of precipitation at one time, and minimizes it in the other. Therefore, this process has resulted in severe drought like conditions in India, with tens of millions of deaths resulting from it in the past few centuries. India depends heavily on prolonged and optimum monsoons for its agricultural productivity, failure of which results in the decreased crop productivity, leading to droughts. Of the total agricultural land in India, about 68% is prone to drought of which 33% is chronically drought prone, receiving rainfall of less than 750mm per year. This is particularly the states of Maharashtra, Gujarat, Rajasthan, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh and Orissa. The World Record Of Drought Was In 2000 in Rajasthan, India. * CYCLONES
As a result of global warming, the average number of Category 4 and 5 hurricanes per year has increased over the past 30 years. India has an 800 km coastline, and is therefore very susceptible to cyclonic activity. Cyclones have been observed to be more frequent in the Bay of Bengal than the Arabian Sea. Consequently the states of West Bengal, Orissa, Andhra Pradesh, and Tamil Nadu along the Bay of Bengal are the most affected. The notable cyclones in Indian history include the 1737 Calcutta cyclone, 1970 Bhola cyclone, and Cyclone 05B, which affected more than a million people.

The Kyoto Protocol treaty was negotiated in December 1997 at the city of Kyoto, Japan and came into force February 16th, 2005. India is one of the signatories of the Kyoto Protocol.

The Kyoto Protocol is a legally binding agreement under which industrialized countries will reduce their collective emissions of greenhouse gases by 5.2% compared to the year 1990 (but note that, compared to the emissions levels that would be expected by 2010 without the Protocol, this target represents a 29% cut). The goal is to lower overall emissions from six greenhouse gases - carbon dioxide, methane, nitrous oxide, sulfur hexafluoride, HFCs, and PFCs - calculated as an average over the five-year period of 2008-12. National targets range from 8% reductions for the European Union and some others to 7% for the US, 6% for Japan, 0% for Russia, and permitted increases of 8% for Australia and 10% for Iceland. USA strategy is in line with its earlier comments on the Kyoto Protocol, namely that combating global warming should be achieved by voluntary effort rather than by mandatory emission reductions. The USA state that this new agreement does not undermine the Kyoto Protocol and that the participating countries have either signed Kyoto or where not even involved in Kyoto in the first place. According to me USA shoul also support Kyoto Protocol as the United States accounts for 1/4 of the world's greenhouse gas emissions. They must follow the Kyoto guidelines in order to save our earth.

One of the most realistic documentaries I've ever seen--and, dry as it is, one of the most devastating in its implications. This documentary offers a passionate and inspirational look at Al Gore's fervent crusade to halt global warming's deadly progress in its tracks by exposing the myths and misconceptions that surround it. This is the movie that changed my outlook on the world and opened my eyes to the most important issue facing humanity today. I was enthralled and horrified at the facts presented in this movie. And I was amazed to see Al Gore - who I'm ashamed to say seemed hardly different or better than George W. Bush to me during the 2000 election - drop all pretenses and come across as an extremely interesting and knowledgeable figure with a passion for educating people about the planet's peril. It's overwhelming the amount of scientific evidence that exists, and it's relayed quite effectively in such a way that if one five-minute topic segment doesn't completely convince you, then surely one of the next ones will. If I could have every person view one movie, this would be it

In this continuous journey, the banking industry has seen several technology trends being adopted and several innovations delivered. The wave of selfservice continued and the advent of Internet banking introduced the concept of anywhere banking as customers could now access their bank accounts from the comforts of their home or office. The new wave of technology-led delivery channels had caught up with the traditional branch banking and the customer experience from these new delivery channels had set new standards.
