Utaboopia
Utopia is seen as a fantasy place or an indefinitely isolated region. Thus, a taboo is considered as being communal or spiritual traditions that prohibit a particular practice (“Modern Death: Taboo or not Taboo Par 1”). Utaboopia can be defined as the restrictions that are placed in an imaginary universe concerning certain things. This paper is going to respond to alternate questions about the imaginary facts. Consequently, the paper will answer questions concerning personal experience in the Utaboopia world.
According to the manuscript “This book is Taboo by Randall Eggert,” It is clear that it talks about the prologue of linguistics. Randall also explains that individual acts can not be performed in some parts of the world because they will be termed as a taboo. Taboo can be explained through alternate examples whereby basing on “James Sullivan” article titled “7 dirty words” it is seen that when his son was expelled from a basketball team for conducting a foul. The son’s reaction as he advanced the bench was to shout the phrase “damn it.”
But this did not go well with one woman as well as several other people who were watching the match since the insisted on an apology. From this, it is right to say that the crowd might have professed the son’s linguistic character as being a taboo although they did not investigate the reasons as to why he had to employ that idiom (Sullivan Pg 3). In considering, it is definite that these people have got an Utaboopian language that restricts the young ones to use offensive language.
Having been sent to a recently revealed planet of Utaboopia that is occupied by a population of humans, it will be vital to learn as well as understand their language within their customs. Therefore, in explaining to them what a taboo language then it can be said to be a validation for the general discussion of existing issues that are permanent. Also, it will be necessary for the Utaboopians to understand that a taboo language comprises the art of profanities and if it is right or wrong. Questions like are kids supposed to affirm? Or is the habit of people swearing good enough can be placed on the Utaboopians so that they can understand what a taboo language is all about.
According to the alternate studies, it was discovered that the majority of the swearing phrases and restrictions mostly are associated with substances that are odious in nature. The studies also show that sex-connected abuses in certain are general across customs (Drews Pg 3). The phrase “fuck” is so diverse to our response to words like “coitus.” This phrase becomes a taboo because taboo languages are educational principles and their feedback needs to be through a community.
A taboo language functions in earth’s culture through the swearing words. Although not all taboo language acts as affirming words, some forbidden words are perceived as brawny languages because they are not described in detail. Also, in earth taboos function through showing the history of particular communities. An example is a taboo of eating whereby several religions do not allow the consumption of particular kinds of meat. Thus, this involves the Christians, Muslims as well as Hindus. Among the Hindus, the entire meat is believed to be a taboo apart from mutton, fish and chicken. Other examples of language restriction that are demonstrated through the history of communities include the prohibition of drinks as well as social taboos.
