Now more than ever, Latinos can see themselves in the songs and stories on "The Great White Way," and such progress is as welcome as it is overdue. Broadway is slowly becoming more diverse and inclusive (Reyes). Originally in the late 1800s and early 1900s we saw primarily white actors on the Broadway stage. Vaudeville and Minstrel shows were ways that white performers could use “blackface” to make fun of and mock different races by painting their faces black. It was a form of entertainment and later was replaced by African American Actors making fun of themselves because theatergoers did not take them seriously. These years were not very good for any ethnically different actor, and later if they were cast in a Broadway show they were not
