Market Research on B2B procurement
Every manufacturing organization categorizes all purchases under A/B/C categorization. 1. Category A is high value/high volume materials that are critical for manufacturing the end output. 2. Category B is medium value/medium volume materials that are necessary for manufacturing. 3. Category C is low value items that may not be required as input material but are used in the manufacturing process.
To take the example of an auto component manufacturer, * Category A item would be steel/aluminium * Category B would be industrial paint * Category C would be the safety gloves that the assembly line worker would need for the welding process
Our organization Power2sme is involved in sale and distribution of Category A and category B items to the SME industry in India. For details on our organization, please visit www.power2sme.com
We are now evaluating offering items that would fall under Category C for the manufacturing industry. We need a team to research the market potential for these items and assess the viability of offering them through a B2B eCommerce portal.
The research study would need to include the following details 1. Identify list of 20 proposed items that can be offered. Since there are literally 100s of such products, the team would need to first create a laundry list and then shortlist 20 products that they would recommend from that list. 2. Market sizing and demand estimation for these 20 shortlisted products 3. Margins in the business – difference between the manufacturing price and the actual price at which the end buyer is buying 4. Identifying the prevailing market selling price for the products and their variants 5. Identifying regional variations in product/quality parameters/prices 6. Identifying the purchase process cycle (who is the influencer, the decision

Wac Report on New Year's Eve Crisis

...Mike Valenti, the owner of Michael’s Homestyle Pasta, just acquired the Southern Pasta Company from Friedrich Walz on 10th December for $3 million. The reason why Mike bought Southern pasta Company in the first place was because almost half of revenues was chain accounted form 200 restaurants. On the Monday morning of New Year’s Eve Mike receives a call from Ted Brewer, VP (Administration and Operations) stating that Fred Jones, Southern quality assurance manager wants to talk to him. “The seafood-stuffed pasta shells that Southern had just shipped to its biggest customer were tainted with salmonella” Fred said. Mike was horrified as it was the New Year’s Eve, biggest night in the year for restaurants. The two challenges against him was that either, “This major regulatory incident could permanently shut him down” or “ He can wave good-bye to 50% of the revenue stream that he just bought 3 weeks ago”. Thereafter, Mike sets up a conference call with his management team which includes Dan, Ted & Mark. They were discussing that what would be their defense against such a tragic incident. The pressure from FDA, customers, media etc would be too worst to handle. After discussion, there were two options. One option would be to trust the chain’s cooking standards. Another option would be to contact the chain and have them notify all restaurants, to make sure that the cooking temperature was high enough. By now, it was late afternoon and Mike had to figure out what to...

...jumping from account to account. At first Mr. Malone did not see a reason to purse an investigation, but Mrs. Cooper decided that there was further investigation needed. Mrs. Cooper looked into the report and realized that something was wrong with the reports and confronted Mr. Bobbitt about the findings. Mr. Bobbitt in the audit committee would take a look and see if the findings that Mrs. Cooper were valid. After finding that the findings were valid she then contact Mr. Farrell and he did an external investigation. After further investigation that the mid-level accounting directors Mr. Normand had confessed to just going along with what Mr. Sullivan had explained to him about the reports because he was afraid to tell anyone and wanted to resign. He was afraid that if he told anyone that he would lose his job and had a family to support. When looking at WorldCom situation it was good that the internal auditor committee took charge of the situation when it was brought to them. That was very ethical and then to have the external auditors take over to review the matter was the right step. Now the fact that you had an accountant that your CFO making false reports and switching money around is not very ethical. Not only did your CFO bring another person into the fraudulent reports, but now an external investigation has to be done and reported. There will be hefty fines and jail time for people in the company that went along with unethical behavior. The accounting activity was...

Manhunt

...posted a manifesto on his social network page and on February 3, 2013 it all began! His first 2 victims had been shot and killed and there were more deaths to follow. Dorner was after any and all law enforcement and anyone involved with them and LAPD had no idea what else was in store. The manhunt lasted for a little over a week and authorities had no idea where he was or what his next move could have been. Somehow, they caught up with him finally and it all ended with a cabin on fire and Dorner allegedly dead. ABC 7 was not subjective, they reported the information they had, and the reporters did not seem to make subjective comments in the first report. Some information I found odd to be reported was the preschool Dorner attended. Has the reports continued, it started to seem like all the stations were being subjective in their reports. Fox 11 news was the most subjective; the reporters shared how terrible they thought the events were and hoped for Dorner’s capture. In both stations the information that was omitted or never spoken of in detail was how good of a person everyone knew Christopher Dorner as. There were people who wanted to share their experiences with him and who have known him for years and never thought of him as a killer, but apparently none of that mattered at this point. NBC 4 was the most objective, there were no opinions, and they reported the information they had. All news stations seemed to omit any good information on the suspect, but at that point they were...
