...You’re cooking your chicken wrong. Forty percent of 120 participants in a new study conducted by the University of California, Davis are, anyway. Christine Bruhn, PhD, director of the Center for Consumer Research at UC Davis, says she was “really surprised” at the number, which represents the amount of participants who undercook their chicken. "I know people do that on purpose with burgers, but with chicken I always thought people were more aware of making sure it was fully cooked,” she told us. The majority of participants who undercooked their meat were a full 14 degrees below the the recommended 165 degree F threshold, and more than half of those who grilled their chicken were 18 degrees under. “The grill is really hot; it’s harder to control and that chicken usually looks pretty darn cooked on the outside,” says Bruhn of the common misstep. The problem is that this fowl fumble can lead to illness, including the dreaded salmonella infection. So what can you do to make sure your signature stir fry doesn’t make anyone sick? Below, Bruhn shares the basic rules of the game with us. Use a meat thermometer. Slicing through the meat to check for color won’t get the job done. “Consumers do it all the time, but going off appearance just doesn’t work,” says Bruhn. And just because your recipe says to cook a chicken breast for 10 minutes doesn’t mean that’ll get you to a safe temperature. “That doesn’t account for how thin or thick the meat is or how hot your stove is,” she adds...

...these are inhalation- breathing in, and ingestion- swallowing. When working in my setting, it is extremely important to have strict hygiene standards. When dealing with changing children’s nappies, staff should wash their hands thoroughly with soap and warm water, then apply gloves and proceed to change them or help the children with the toilet, they should do this when dealing with accidents also, they should wash their hands before they apply gloves because if they have any germs already on their hands, putting the gloves on will only make them multiply, this is why they should also wash them afterwards also although they are using gloves which stop the body fluids getting onto their hands they could have missed germs the first time washing them. Staff should thoroughly clean cutlery used and when severing food, make sure they have again washed their hands and applied gloves, staff should do this because if a child has a cold or infection of any kind, if their cups they’ve used have not been washed thoroughly, germs could easily be missed and handed to...

...Project Number 405422 The video on washing hands is a good way for you to teach your child and other how to wash their hands the proper way. Adults know that we wash ours hands before we eat, after we use the restroom, cough, sneeze, or pick up dirty things. We as parents and teachers need to instill these health tips to our students. A lot of parents just sit there child down to eat without washing or sanitizing their hands. Let’s wash Those germs away. I feel very confident about my demonstration, because I have worked in daycare and food services; and the one thing they were big on was cleanliness. I wouldn’t change anything about my demonstration, because I followed the video step by step and was very clear on explaining each step carefully. From this experience, I’ve learned that even infant hands should be washed after changing his/her diaper. Not washing your hand is the number one way we carries disease and infection. A baby will put his or her on a nasty diaper or even their private area while you are changing him or her. I also did my demonstration on diaper changing in the infant room. I felt great about the demonstration, due to the fact that I watched the video and understood exactly what to do. During the demonstration, I was more focused on keeping the baby still while I changed its diaper. I remembered from the video I could have given the child a toy to play with while I changed him or her diaper. I would not change anything about my...

...MINT PLUS Mint is a line of robotic cleaning machines, launched in January 2010 by Evolution Robotics, a company that just got acquired by iRobot. Mint is a two tiered cleaning robot which dusts and wet-mops hard surface floors. The robot systematically covers the floor line-by-line and cleans around the edges before it returns to its original position. Mint is one of the most noise-free floor cleaning robot (it has no vacuum motor), but it is not fully automatic. The cleaning cloth has to be attached to the cleaning pad before cleaning and it has to be removed after it is done. It can cover 93 square meters (1000 sq ft) in sweep mode and 23 square meters (250 sq ft) in wet mopping mode. Mint uses a navigation cube as a beacon for navigation and the original model is only able to handle one of these beacons at a time. The indoor navigation system is called NorthStar Navigation System. On 14th September 2011, Evolution Robotics announced the second model of the Mint family, called Mint Plus. It is essentially a slightly improved version of the original Mint. Mint Plus is smarter than the basic version as it works with the NorthStar 2 indoor navigation system, which is how the Mint figures out where it is, what it has cleaned, and what it still needs to clean. It also creates and stores a map of the area it cleans. The newer version also takes less time to charge. Why is Mint Plus a Hi-Tech Product? We live a very busy life. Chores such as dish cleaning, laundry and cooking...

...I'm sure many of us have tried coloring our hair at home and just follow the directions on the box. If you are planning on doing this by yourself, there are many imperfections that you and others might notice: missing patches of the hair, applying the dye unevenly, and dye getting on your skin when washing it out. The first thing you need to do it find the right color fr your hair. If you're dying your hair for the first time, try to find a dye that isn't a drastic change in color. Next, you can start the process of actually dying your hair. Cover up your neck with an old towel and wear the gloves provided. Make sure you are wearing an old piece of clothing that you wouldn't mind throwing away if you got dye on it. You may want to use some petroleum jelly around your hair line, to keep the dye from staning your skin. Now to start dying your hair, take the dye and pour it in the bottle provided and shake it up very well. Clip up the parts that you're not ready to dye. Gradually apply the dye to the hair that isn't clipped up. It's easier to work the dye into your hair of you use a comb. Work from one side to the next, applying the dye with the use of the comb. When finished coloring each section, don't disturb the color in your hair for the amount of time prescribed in the directions. After your hair is put up in some kind of bun, wipe the dye off, if any, that got on you with a damp towel or baby wipe. After the time is up, wash your hair with warm water and shampoo. Repeat twice...

...Hayao Miyazaki attained global acclaim for both Princess Mononoke, released in the United States in 1999, and Spirited Away, released throughout North America three years later. These films are clearly products of the same visionary; each film presents a protagonist of strong will and sound ethic and, in each case, he or she is forced to embark on an epic journey. Both films were very successful in Japan; however, although both were critically acclaimed in the United States, only Spirited Away saw continued box-office success. In order to explain the disparity between these films’ earnings, I will discuss the different approaches, which these films take, to the theme of duality. Naturally, the idea of a double nature is unsettling. However, whereas Spirited Away addresses this theme in a way that invigorates and provides closure, Princess Mononoke leaves the audience feeling uncertain. In order to understand the disparity between these films’ earnings, one must examine not only thematic differences between these films, but also patterns among high-grossing films in the United States. In other words, what are American audiences looking for, which Spirited Away offers and Princess Mononoke does not? When reviewing the history of box-office successes in the United States, one becomes aware of an unfortunate truth: that there is little correlation between what viewers recognize as ‘good cinema’ and what they will pay to see. So what is the formula for a box office success...

STRATEGY SUMMARY STATEMENT The first thing every business should think of is its potential customers, who they’re going to be, and how to attract customers. For my business located in Madison, New Jersey I have chosen to select college students as well as dual income families that may not have time to do house hold chores such as laundry. College students being the bulk of my potential customers, I plan on providing the same service they may have received at home either mom, dad or someone besides themselves doing the laundry. This type of “mom away from home” strategy would attract students that never have done laundry before. Parents and guardians may also buy into the idea because it is a cheap affordable way for their children’s clothing to be washed and cleaned correctly without the chance of damage or the expense to buy new clothing. For a laundry delivery business you want a quick, clean and affordable service for your consumers. ...With the rapid growth of technology, there has been a debate on how we are using technology in our life. Many people think that we are now abusing modern devices to support for our own life; while others reckon that using technology brings us just good things and make our life easier. According to what I have observed and experienced, I believe that people, nowadays, have been overly dependent on technology. To begin with, it is not hard to recognize the intergral role of technology in houses. Housewives, nowadays, are no longer “housewives” as itself used to mean. They do almost every task with the assistance of modern machines. They have clothes washed by washing machine instead of doing that by hand as before or they clean dishes just by putting them into a dishwasher. In the past, televisions seemed like the luxurious thing but each family now has at least one or even more than two TV sets in their house. It is now common to catch the image of many children or some adults spending most of their time in front of the screens containing various attractive things. What is more, workplaces are becoming more and more dependent upon technology. In almost every company, there is an advancedly computerized system which makes tasks much easier and quicker. Most of employees have their own mobile phone or computer so that they could exchange information or documents as soon as they want without leaving their desks. Besides, there are many kinds of machine such as printers, photocopiers...

...In the last century many people did things by hand but nowadays more and more tasks have become automated. For example, many people have washing machines, clothes driers and dishwashers, so the amount of energy needed to wash and dry clothes and wash dishes is greatly reduced. As technology progresses, more and more of these tasks will be automatic, for example, vacuum cleaning or cutting the grass. In addition to this, improvements in technology have given us 24-hour a day entertainment from digital TV to video games. This means that there are fewer tasks to do, more time to do nothing and more opportunities to sit around and be entertained without moving very much. As we can see, there are both advantages and disadvantages to this. I will deal with the advantages firstly. I think, there are at least two positive effects of this. First of all, we don't need to do repetitive and uninteresting job like washing-up and this gives us more time to do other things. What we do with this time depends upon the individual. Secondly, for people, who are less able to do these jobs, like elderly or disabled people, these machines are a great help. Future developments may be able to help them even more. I think, this is the most positive side of technology. Now I will look at the disadvantages. As I mentioned, it is up to the individual what they do with this extra time. Unfortunately, instead of doing everyday tasks people tend to watch television or play video games. Furthermore, television...

The business commerce of a coin operated self-serve laundromat would be the people in the neighborhood and surrounding areas who use coins to pay for the washing and drying of their own laundry, at a place that provides washer and dryer machines that are maintained and the cost of utilities are the responsibility of the company owner. The value of this is having a place to do laundry without the responsibility of owning it and paying the cost of utilities and maintaining the equipment themselves. The business occupation of a coin operated self-serve laundromat are washers, dryers, and machines that hold a variety of products people use to wash with. There are utilities along with rental costs of the property where the equipment and products are kept for people to go and use. The business organization of a coin operated laundromat is to have a certified repairman who specializes in repairing and maintaining coin operated machines. If an owner is also a certified repairman of coin operated machinery this will help him with the costs of hiring someone. In conclusion, businesses as commerce, occupation and organization have evolved to allow land,...
