“Physical Science Department Policy for Online Exams” To protect the “Academic Integrity” of the Physical Sciences Courses the following guidelines for testing have been adopted by the Physical Science Department:  All exams for CHEM, GEOL, SCIE, and PHYS web based courses must be taken online with the lockdown browser at the times and locations designated by the instructor.
 All final exams for CHEM, GEOL, SCIE, and PHYS web based courses must be taken face-to-face at the times and locations designated by the instructor.
 You should attend all tests with your instructor.
 Under extreme circumstances, the instructor MAY allow the use of a proctor on a very limited basis, and with the following rules. o You, the student, must locate a suitable proctor. You should check with the nearest college campus for a proctor first. Any proctor that requires payment must be paid at your own expense. o The proctor must have the ability to either (scan and e-mail) or (fax and mail) your completed exams within 24-48 hours of the exam. o The proctor you choose should contact the instructor within the first week of class. o The instructor has the right to reject your choice of proctor. o If you miss a test with the proctor, the instructor has the right to suspend the use of a proctor and you must take your remaining exams face-to-face. o NO MAKEUP exams will be given. o Proctored exams must be taken on the dates assigned by the instructor. “Physical Science Department Policy for Online Student-Instructor Communication”
 All course communication must be done via your college’s e-mail address.
 If you don’t know your college e-mail address, you can find directions on your college website under the e-mail heading.
 Instructor may not respond to alternative e-mail addresses.
 You should check your e-mail and Canvas at least three (3) times per day.
 Instructors will, in most cases, respond to e-mail within 24-48 hours, except on weekends.
 Make sure all e-mail communications are clear and respectful.
 Any threatening or harassing e-mail will be dealt with in accordance with the Student Judicial Code. “The roles of the Instructor and Student”  The instructor basically serves as a Course Manager/Facilitator and does the following: o Adds and provides course content and resource links o Sets the assignment and exam dates o Grades assignments and exams o Verifies the on-time completion of assignments o Answers e-mail questions during the designated office hours established Monday through Friday
 The instructor is NOT available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.  The student carries the primary responsibility for instruction for online courses o It is your duty complete exams and assignments on time. o It is your duty to communicate with your instructor. o It is your duty to follow the policies and procedures set forth in this course syllabus.
