Week 4 Reflection
When comparing two or more groups there are five tests that are used: Standard T-Test, Paired T-Test, One-Way ANOVA, Two-Way ANOVA, and Linear Regression. The Standard T-Test is the most basic testing when you are comparing the means of exactly two groups. A Paired T-Test is more used in a “Before vs. After” experiment, and is the most sensitive test out of all five. One-Way ANOVA test is just like the T-Test except you can use this test for comparing three or more groups. The Two-Way ANOVA test can be used when comparing three or more groups, which have two different independent variables. According to “Statistical Testing For Dummies!!!" (n.d.), “the Linear Regression test is for comparing the means of groups along a continuum of three or more treatment levels, such as a gradually increasing depth of water” (para. 16).

1[Add footnotes, if any, on their own page following references. For APA formatting requirements, it’s easy to just type your own footnote references and notes. To format a footnote reference, select the number and then, on the Home tab, in the Styles gallery, click Footnote Reference. The body of a footnote, such as this example, uses the Normal text style. (Note: If you delete this sample footnote, don’t forget to delete its in-text reference as well. That’s at the end of the sample Heading 2 paragraph on the first page of body content in this template.)]

Week 4 Qnt 501

...Michael Rathburn Week 4 QNT 501 – Individual Assignment Dr. Louis Daily January 22, 2009 In the following situations, decide whether you would use a personal interview, telephone survey, or self-administered questionnaire. Give your reasons. a A survey of the residents of a new subdivision on why they happened to select that area in which to live. You also wish to secure some information about what they like and do not like about life in the subdivision. For the new subdivision, I would recommend that a telephone survey is used because it is relatively cost efficient, the sampling pool is probably full of people that are at home during the same time in the day, and it would allow the residents to share their personal preferences about the subdivision. Also, because there is not a standard set of desired answers, the telephone interview would be the most effective data collection method. When compared to either personal interviews or mail self-administered surveys, the use of telephones brings a faster completion of a study, sometimes taking only a day or so for the fieldwork. When compared to personal interviewing, it is also likely that interviewer bias, especially bias caused by the physical appearance, body language, and actions of the interviewer, is reduced by using telephones. Finally, behavioral norms work to the advantage of telephone interviewing. If someone is present, a ringing phone is usually answered, and it is the caller who decides the purpose, length...

One question was asked twice in the survey (#9) one is sure that it was just an oversight though. As an avid amazon.com user one purchases a lot of books for the kindle fire and would have liked to see a question in relation to that. Moreover a lot of items from amazon are provided through third parties and there could have been a customer satisfaction question in relation to that. Overall, one thought that this was a well-worded survey. Furthermore the survey was very presentable and the ability for one to make personal comments or testimonials at the end is beneficial. The comments and testimonials are important because a customer is able to elaborate on any answers made and comment...

What is their significance in research? Explain with examples. Independent variables are the variables that are manipulated to then analyze the effect on the dependent variable. Although, there is not necessarily manipulation of the independent variable but allows for breaking them into groups that fit into specific properties for the study. An example I found to explain this a little clearer is a study of white cell count between the two genders. There is not a manipulation, but the independent variables are male and female and the dependent variable (what is measured) is the white blood cell counts of the genders (StatSoft Electronic Statistics Textbook, 2012). An example from a previous class would be studying childhood obesity and the relationship to fast-food restaurants close to their school. The independent variable would be the fast-food restaurant in proximity to the school and the dependent variable would be the classifications of the children (normal weight, overweight, obese). The important of dependent and independent variables is the ability to study if and/or how much of an effect the independent variable has on the dependent variable. In the example I provided...

BIMS employs a total of 452 employees, including full-time and part-time workers as well as upper management employees. The average turnover rate for BIMS is typically 55 to 60%. During the past four months the turnover rate has increased to over 64%. Despite the efforts to get to the root of the issue causing the high turnover rate, management at BIMS has been unsuccessful. The morale is low at BIMS, and there has been an increase in the use of sick leave. The performance of workers has become inadequate, which has caused a number of complaints from clients. Data Collection Instrument A survey instrument was created in an attempt to allow the workers to express their views about their individual experiences at BIMS. The survey begins by asking questions about the employee’s feelings toward his or her position and the relationship he or she has with his or her boss. The survey also includes demographic questions that identifies the division they are assigned to and how long they have been employed. ...nt Team Reflection Week 4 Team D Reflection Christopher Gonzalez, Jennifer Mai, Leonel Perez QNT 351 March 7, 2014 Mr. Victor Ornelas Week 4 Team D Reflection In week four, Team D read about the steps in testing a research hypothesis, comparing the means of two or more groups, and calculating the correlation between two variables. The following paper will go in to more depth on what was discussed and what we learned as a team as well as individuals. The team also was able to go over the Mystat lab that we were assigned in the individual assignment. In step one a team would state a null hypothesis as well as an alternate hypothesis. The null hypothesis is used only for testing. We either reject or fail to reject the null hypothesis. The alternate hypothesis is accepted if sample data provide enough evidence that the null hypothesis is false. No matter what the problem looks like the null hypothesis will always contain the equal sign. This is true because since the null hypothesis is being tested there is a need for a specific value to be seen in the calculations. When comparing the means of two or more groups the team must state the null hypothesis. Random samples of each population must be chosen to show the formula in a working status. To get a more accurate sample a higher number of the populations should be used. An independent sample T-test is used to compare the means of two or more groups. Pooled variance can be used if the variances of the two populations...
