Review the Case application: APPRAISING THE SECRETARIES AT SWEETWATER U at the end of Chapter 9 of your textbook. Review the three questions at the end of the case. Think about how you might answer those questions. Now, answer these questions:
1. Do you think that the experts ‘recommendations will be sufficient to get most of the administrators to fill out the rating forms properly? Why? Why not? What additional actions (if any) do you think will be necessary?
I think that in some way the employee’s appraisal will kind of always be tide to their salary increase. I don’t believe that the recommendations will be sufficient. I think it will help but I think if it was as an overall package. I think that it can be difficult to get the entire administrator to fill out the rating form properly. I think one of the reason would be because the lack of time or simply because they want to give their secretary the best score and they don’t have no body to compare the rating with. I think that if you are rating more than one employee it might be easier that to properly rate the because of the use of comparison. I think that this might require training to ensure that everyone is in the same page. Advising them of the important of accurately rating the secretary in addition of the expert recommendation. He might even had to add and consequence to inaccurate review to enforce it. In EHow they mention that it might be a good thing to get input from the employee to accurately rate them. Maybe in addition to having the administrator submit rating sheet they can also submit the input of their employee that with can be review and compare with the appraisal of other secretary in the company. http://www.ehow.com/how_4832285_fill-out-employee-evaluation.html 2. Ms Project

...[Begin Week 1] Joel: Hello, my name is Joel, and I’ll be walking you through each week’s Microsoft Project exercise. In this week, we’ll be changing the Microsoft Project standard settings. I’ve accessed Microsoft Project through the DeVry iLab. You can find a link to the DeVry iLab in the weekly iLab pages or in the “Course home.” Let’s get started. The first thing that we’ll do is set some project information variables. This ensures that we are all using the same settings. First, change the start date and the current date. From the menu, choose “Project,” then “Project information.” Change the start date to January 1, 2006. Then change the current date to January 1, 2006. We’re using this date for the assignment, so that everyone’s simulated project looks the same. Click, “Okay.” Now, let’s change some of the options. From the menu toolbar, select “Tools,” then “Options.” A new window will appear. Select the general tab and type your name in the user name field. Next, let’s set the workweek. Select the calendar tab, then choose, “Saturday.” Since the workweek begins on Saturday and timekeeping data starts on the same day of the week here at the Arc Company, where we manufacture the Zuma scooter product line. Making this the default starting workday for the workweek will better align the actual work hours to the scheduled tasks. We will keep Saturdays and Sundays as non-workdays. Select the “Set as default” button for the changes to take effect...

Kaplan’s mission and market niche was to enroll adults or working adults who want to complete a college degree but neither has the time to enroll in a traditional campus. That being said, Kaplan was new player in the market competing against other for profit schools such as Devry Institute, ITT, Phoenix University to name a few. In 2007, I was recruited by Kaplan’s HR department to work as an inside sales representative. Myself and 12 other individuals went through a 2-week training class covering Kaplan’s culture, Fafsa (free application for student aid), compliance and boilerplate sales script. The training was intense and strict focusing mostly on the sales script and preaching Kaplan’s ethics, integrity and mission. Like any other jobs I had before this; I took the challenge seriously and was focus on becoming the best at my trade. After my first week on the sales floor, I found myself enrolling more students than any other Kaplan University sales rep. My recognition and reputation quickly escalated to the CEO of Kaplan Inc and other top executives across the country. I was the poster child for the inside sales department. However after being on the job for nearly 3 months, I began to notice the unethical behaviors of Directors, Associate...

Liz is concerned that the investment for the (ASRS) may not yield the necessary return to justify the investment. Jack’s argument is, the (ASRS) will help tremendously with the pickup station operators, to an extent that the station will be gone. Currently operators pick about 45 books per hour, the new system has the capacity to pick 360 books per hour. Liz isn’t convinced with Jack, She’s has doubt with the expense. She is also concerned about the integration of the system, the website, and their discount system. The only benefit that she sees with the new system is the reduction of labor. Knowles DeVry University Professor: Michelle Lawson Management 303 SWOT Analysis Abstract As we trace the halls of “father time” there we come across a company that may not have the rich history of serving North America and the rest of the world for over 100 years. Or cannot be traced back to the establishment of our constitution, providing a strong wake up call to our founding fathers as they crafted the declaration of independence during the 1800’s. But what we find in history is a company that took its humble beginnings at Pike’s Place and crafted a casual drink into the world’s most recognizable brand. Whose customer base are loyal to the brand, and whose logo stands apart from all others. It has weathered the storms of a down economy, poor management, competition, weaknesses and threats to define its own brand and category. CEO Howard Schultz said “Starbucks is committed to evolving and enhancing our customer experience with innovative and wholesome food offerings”. Starbucks History Starbucks opened its first store in 1971 in Seattle’s Pike’s Place Market. At its inception it was a retailer of whole bean, ground coffee, tea and spices. Today that one store has blossomed to over 20,000 stores in 65 countries brewing the best coffee arguably by many of its loyal customers. Starbucks got its name from the first mate in the Herman Melville’s Moby Dick story, and its logo from...
