• Identify the deductive argument, or some of the supporting information for the inductive reasoning.
• Explain your answer using the course materials to support your findings.

Article 1: “Biofuels Are Not a Viable Renewable Energy” Written by: Danny Chivers
In this essay the author attempts to prove that biofuels are not a viable renewable energy source. He uses facts that are both relevant and sound to prove his conclusion. He gave many examples of how biofuels could be used locally, but that on a global scale it would be pointless, and potentially more harmful. I believe that the author is using a deductive argument to prove his argument, because he uses many facts, such as the statistics from reports and research that has been done, and he gives sufficient evidence to support his deduction. He gives several reasons that biofuels are not a viable renewable energy source, such as: the potential danger it would put on food stores and food crop prices, the indirect emissions resulting from destroying peat land or rainforest to build more room to grow energy crops, and the shear amount of farmland that would be needed to make a significant change in global dependence to fossil fuels. From all of the statistics and examples, results from research, and information from credible sources, I would have to say that the author did a good job of presenting his argument using deduction. I do not see how it would be possible for the

Chapter 8 Products, Services, and Brands: Building Customer Value

...Chapter 8 PRODUCTS, SERVICES, AND BRANDS: BUILDING CUSTOMER VALUE MARKETING STARTER: CHAPTER 8 Nike: Building Deep-Down Brand-Customer Relationships Synopsis Marketing is all about creating brands that connect with customers, and few marketers have done that as well as Nike. During the past several decades, Nike has built the Nike swoosh into one of the world’s best-known brand symbols. During the 1980s, Nike revolutionized sports marketing. It powered its way through the early 1990s, aggressively adding products in a dozen new sports, including baseball, golf, skateboarding, wall climbing, bicycling, and hiking. In the late 1990s, however, Nike stumbled and its sales slipped. Nike needed to rekindle the brand’s meaning to consumers. To turn things around, Nike returned to its roots: new-product innovation and a focus on customer relationships. This time, Nike shifted toward cutting-edge digital and social marketing tools to interact with customers to build brand experiences and community. Nike is now building communities of customers who talk not just with the company about the brand, but with each other as well. Thanks to efforts like Nike+, along with a host of other new digital and social media approaches, Nike has built a new kinship and sense of community with and between the brand and its customers. The company’s outstanding success results from much more than just making and selling good sports gear. It’s based on a deep-down connection between the iconic Nike brand...

Down Syndrome: Observing Shannon

...Down syndrome: Observing Shannon Submitted by: Alfonse Bowman Arcadia University ED 584: Supporting Students with Low Incidence Disabilities Professor Hopkins Fall 2013 Introduction For our final paper I chose to research trisomy 21 or as it is known clinically, Down syndrome (DS). The primary reason I chose this low incidence disability is because I will make the transition from a regular education teacher to a special education teacher in the spring and I am already familiar with other low incidence disabilities. I realize that with my new role in a self-contained classroom it is important for me to understand the term Down syndrome and then see how the definition and behavioral traits impact the student, the teacher and the other students in an educational setting. This research paper will provide clinical and anecdotal information on DS with real-life observation of a student with Down syndrome. History of Disorder According to the National Down Syndrome Society (2013), during the early nineteenth century, John Langdon Down, an English physician, published an accurate description of a person with Down syndrome. It was this scholarly wok, published in 1866, that earned Down the recognition as the “father” of the syndrome. Although other people had previously recognized the characteristics of the syndrome, it was Down who described the condition as a distinct and separate entity. The United States Department of Health and Human Services Center for Disease Control...

I believe as educators we are ourselves are constantly learning what works and what doesn’t work by our diverse students and it is essential as teachers to keep in mind the needs of each and every one of our students. I am confident that my lesson plans and curriculum are designed to fit the requirements of the New York State Standards and the Common Core, which also reflects my contribution as a teacher to the classroom. I have a strong understanding of student development and have been consistently recognized by my cooperating teacher and her administrators for the relationships I create with my students in conjunction to the functionality of the classroom. My purpose in the classroom is to create a free space where students can engage in critical thinking, making inferences and supporting their ideas and opinions with primary and secondary sources. I believe it is important to utilize up to date pieces of information to engross the student’s attention and participation in the classroom. Being that our students are technologically savvy I also believe it is important to incorporate technology into lesson planning. I am also fluent in Greek and am to communicate with students and parents from Greek-speaking households in hopes to promote their parents...
