1. Recommendations for exercise during pregnancy has changed so much over the years because of the lack of information when the guidelines for exercise during pregnancy were published in 1985 (pg. 341). They limited pregnant women's exercise to no more than 15 minutes a day because they thought rigorous exercise would increase pregnancy complications such as low birth weight, preterm labor and maternal conditions. Pregnant women are now suppose to exercise at least 150 minutes in a week. When pregnant women exercise, it lowers the risk for gestational diabetes and preterm delivery. It also keeps the women's bodies healthy which help the baby as well. Exercising also reduces the time in delivery and the way that your responds after delivery. I know for myself I exercised about five to six times a week up until a week before having my son and I ended up having a c-section due to his stubbornness and my body responded well afterwards and I think it was due to the healthy lifestyle that i continued while being pregnant.

2.. As it states in our text "If the mother has an exercise plan already in place, she should continue that routine until she feels like she needs modifications"(pg. 347). Modifications if needed are recommended. Sticking to a light exercise regimen is beneficial for before giving birth and the way that your body heals afterwards. If need be do exercises that has less impact on her body such as cardio i.e elliptical machine, stairs, and treadmill. Adding perhaps prenatal yoga is a great thing to pick up while pregnant as that will help her body recover better from various exercises, and they teach woman how to breath, which helps them relax, and they're also good practice for breathing techniques that will help during labor and
