...Approach Practically speaking, what does it mean when we say that WGU’s programs are competency-based? Unlike traditional universities, WGU does not award degrees based on credit hours or on a certain set of required courses. Instead, you will earn your degree by demonstrating your skills, knowledge, and understanding of important concepts through a series of carefully designed courses. Progress through your degree program is governed not by classes but by satisfactory completion of the required courses that demonstrate your mastery of the competencies. Of course, you will need to engage in learning experiences as you brush up on competencies or develop knowledge and skills in areas in which you may be weak. For this learning and development, WGU has a rich array of learning resources in which you may engage under the direction of your student mentor. You will work closely with your mentor to schedule your program for completing the courses. You will also work closely with additional faculty members as you proceed through courses of study that are designed to lead you through the content you must master in order to pass the assessment(s) for each course. The benefit of this competency-based system is that it makes it possible for people who are knowledgeable about a particular subject to make accelerated progress toward completing a WGU degree, even if they lack college experience. You may have gained skills and knowledge of a subject while on the job,...

There are many defining characteristics that allow countries and groups of countries to understand each other, and in some cases, for unions. The purpose of this essay is to briefly discuss nations, states, and nation states, how the United States constitutes a nation state, and the European Union. A nation is a union of people who share social similarities such as language, beliefs, culture, possibly religion, and values. A state is defined by laws and politics, uniting people by geography, population, and government. The modern nation-state is more of a combination of nation and state and is defined as “a single or multiple nationalities joined together in a formal political union” (What is a Nation-State, N.D.). Basically, a nation-state makes the general regulations for large decisions such as what language the general population will speak, what form of currency will be accepted, and...

This is due to a policy change that required toy company employees to work rotating shifts to accommodate the demands of production. In this former employee’s claim, rotation would fall on a religious holy day. The rotating schedule change is required for all production employees but would not affect office staff members who will maintain 0800 to 1700 Monday through Friday work schedules. This memorandum will provide information to assist WGU Toy Company with recommendations in handling this claim. The nature of discrimination charges were best explained through review of Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, which identifies definitions specific to this claim against WGU Toy Company. Title VII of the Civil Rights Act states, “it is illegal to discriminate against someone based on race, color, religion, national origin, or sex” (U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity...

...WGU - Supply Chain - The Entire Course - All 3 Tasks http://www.homeworkminutes.com/question/view/41072/WGU-Supply-Chain-The-Entire-Course Task 1 Supply Chain Management Simulation Analysis (B): Utilizing pro-forma balance sheets revealed that I was too conservative in my initial approach. My market share was 98% in the traveler series but dismal in the workhorse line. My decision to invest $400,000 into a certificate of deposit was a critical error. I should have opened an office in Europe sooner to maintain market share. Pro-forma financial statements are critical to determine the outcome of previous decisions. After my third quarter my error was to not completely analyze my financial statements. Earlier, in the second quarter, I had went from a negative $394,000 to a positive $493,749. This gave me confidence in my traveler line and since I was only at 4% market share with the workhorse line – I dropped the line completely. I made the decision after reviewing analysis of my profit and loss statements. I viewed this as a low profit item that was taking away from our cash assets that could be best used to catapult our traveler line My initial goal was to gain market share and defend it. I gained market share but did not keep it. My conservative approach early in the simulation did not allow me time to defend my 98% market share. I analyzed competitors and they were gaining...

The employee gave himself an increase in pay by increase his base salary rate. The employee had success in performing this crime by spoofing an IP address, allowing their self the ability to eavesdrop on the network. By spoofing the specific IP address, the employee was able to find the location of the data and successfully modified it for their gain. After the fact, the employee received two paychecks containing the fraudulent salary. An auditor, who was effectively performing their job duties, became aware of the fraudulent acts of the employee, and thus sent an email to several pertinent individuals within the organization making them aware of the situation and that there is potentially a discretion with the employee’s paycheck. Probably on the “look-out” for reaction from their errant ways, the employee somehow was able to intercept the emails that were intended for the original recipients. The first part of the expectancy theory is the employees belief of weather their effort can amount to rewards or benefits. Employees will usually measure their effort in comparison to what they can get for it. One factor that tends to un motivate employees is their believe that personal preferences and non work related factors can cause a person to get better performance appraisal than persons who have a non relationship with managers, supervisors or evaluators. This is an important factory in determining from the beginning if an employee will start off working with a strong expectation regarding is current job.! ! In my personal experience working for Puerto Rico’s biggest bank and private company, It was a very firm belief that while many got promotions based on merit and years of service and some on effort, there was a clear connection between the most liked employees by managers and better performance appraisal. In my personal conversation with employees in other sectors I believe it is very common and only if the upper management makes a clear and solid communication and example that this will not happen and that all hires will be strictly related to performance or seniority...

...management is a systematic approach to solving a problem, taking advantage of an opportunity, improving a process, or otherwise creating something. A project goes through several phases, with a distinct beginning and end. A successful project includes effectively carrying out tasks related to initiating, planning, executing, monitoring/controlling, and closing. Unsuccessful projects often skip some of these steps, perhaps not fully planning everything that needs to be done or forgetting to monitor the team to ensure they are sticking to the plan. An effective project manager foresees problems, makes appropriate trade-offs that ensure successful project completion, and, above all, facilitates communication among all project stakeholders, who are likely each looking for something different from the project. This course provides an overview of the Project Management Institute’s project management methodology. As you learn about the various process groups and knowledge areas, you will apply your knowledge in case studies for planning a project that has not started yet and monitoring/controlling a project that is already underway. You will solve problems, gather information, and make decisions using your expert judgment. The techniques you practice in this course will be beneficial for you whether you manage a project in the future, participate on a project team, or are a stakeholder expecting certain benefits and results from a project. Watch the following introduction...
