The final decision had been made between the uncles, about Sasha’s mistake. Sasha had made a false promissory note to a bank and that payment was due three days ago. Now the uncles have to make a decision on whether they should help Sasha by paying the money, or whether he should go to trial. Sasha’s Uncle Markovitch debates that they should pay the money and protect the family name. While Uncle Colonel stands to send him to trial, and take the responsibilities of his own. While all of this was happening Sasha, does not care or worry about any of this. That's why I am with Colonel, I believe that Sasha should be taken to trial. Not having someone valuable does not mean you are not capable of yourself. By the story the author’s purpose is, innocence does not build trust. …show more content…
Colonel’s thinks it is best if Sasha goes to trial and live up to his mistakes. He states, “Who ever he may be, and helping him to escape punishment, it is contrary to law and unworthy of a gentleman. It’s not saving the family honor.” Colonel does not see the importance of the family name, because he says, “Who says that family honor is a mere convention? I don’t see that at all.” Colonel character is very straightforward and governmental, this is why he thinks in this sartin way. Ivan Markovitch is a kind hearted man who cares about the family name and he is also rich. That why he is debating against Colonel, to not send Sasha to trial so the family name won't be destroyed by anyone. That is why he said, “f instead of punishing an erring boy we hold out to him a helping hand.” Because he still says, poor sister to his dead sister, he states the fact, “he had lost his parents in early childhood without guidance and good influence.” Ivan then talks about youth in general, “ Youth has its rights and its peculiar

Preliminary Analysis Memo

...Preliminary Analysis Memo This Preliminary Analysis Memo is framed under the three research questions that guide this case study: (1) How do bilingual readers process texts by analyzing the miscues they produce during oral reading? (2) What are bilingual readers’ beliefs about the reading strategies they bring to the act of reading? (3) What are bilingual readers’ beliefs about themselves as readers? To answer these questions, I have requested Sasha’s (pseudonym) parents permission to participate in three procedures: (1) The Burke’s Reading Interview (BRI) (Burke, 1980), (2) A Reading Miscue Inventory (RMI), and (3) A Retrospective Miscue Analysis (RMA) (Goodman & Marek, 1996) session. For the sake of this Preliminary Analysis Memo, only...

Chosen a the Frenchmen; S Love Child

...Xavier Salgado-Lézille isn't a man a girl can say no to easily. Jane tries to play it cool, but she's inexperienced…and a virgin. Falling in love isn't part of the plan…neither is discovering she's pregnant once the affair is over. Xavier knows she's carrying his child, and he wants an heir. Jane has been chosen as his bride! PROLOGUE The poolside, Hotel Lézille, 8.30pm HE NOTICED her as soon as she appeared in the archway between the lobby and the pool, his eyes drawn there as if pulled by a magnetic force. A rare excitement stirred his pulse. He told himself that he hadn’t come especially to seek her out. She seemed slightly hesitant, unsure. She wasn’t the most beautiful woman he’d ever seen, but she had a stunningly natural quality about her, which in his world was rare, compelling. In a simple black dress that outlined every slender curve and a generous bosom, she caught his eye again, and he couldn’t look away. Didn’t want to. The soft waves of her dark hair framed her face. Intriguingly, she seemed to be slightly self-conscious. Or perhaps, he thought with a hardened cynicism that had been honed over years, she carefully projected that vulnerable fragility. God knew she had managed to capture his attention in the street yesterday. Her huge, striking blue eyes had momentarily stunned him, rendering him speechless. And he was never stunned, or speechless. Something in their depths had caught him, combined with that lush mouth, looking up at him so innocently, full of a shocked...

...Prologue CHAPTER ONE: Republicans and Democrats CHAPTER TWO: Values CHAPTER THREE: Our Constitution CHAPTER FOUR: Politics CHAPTER FIVE: Opportunity CHAPTER SIX: Faith CHAPTER SEVEN: Race CHAPTER EIGHT: The World Beyond Our Borders CHAPTER NINE: Family Epilogue Acknowledgments About the Author Also by Barack Obama Copyright Prologue IT’S BEEN ALMOST ten years since I first ran for political office. I was thirty-five at the time, four years out of law school, recently married, and generally impatient with life. A seat in the Illinois legislature had opened up, and several friends suggested that I run, thinking that my work as a civil rights lawyer, and contacts from my days as a community organizer, would make me a viable candidate. After discussing it with my wife, I entered the race and proceeded to do what every first-time candidate does: I talked to anyone who would listen. I went to block club meetings and church socials, beauty shops and barbershops. If two guys were standing on a corner, I would cross the street to hand them campaign literature. And everywhere I went, I’d get some version of the same two questions. “Where’d you get that funny name?” And then: “You seem like a nice enough guy. Why do you want to go into something dirty and nasty like politics?” I was familiar with the question, a variant on the questions asked of me years earlier, when I’d first arrived in Chicago to work in low-income neighborhoods. It signaled a cynicism not simply with politics but with...
