Step 1: Problem Definition: - What drives satisfaction in cell phones for Indian professionals.
Step2: Developing an approach to the problem – Exploratory research for identifying set of satisfaction drivers and conclusive research for identifying key satisfaction drivers.
Step3: Research design * Exploratory Research(To generate hypothesis) * Depth Interview- not required since it is not a personal product, no expert’s review also required for cell phones. * Laddering – We are not trained professionals, so we are avoiding laddering * Observation, Ethnographic, Net-no graphic - Time consuming * Focus Group – 2 Group’s of homogenous focus group discussion (working professionals less than 5 years, working professionals greater than 5 years)

* Conclusive Research * Probability sampling – not possible since no access to mobile user data base. * Non-Probability sampling – * Convenience – less quantitative tools only possible so this method is avoided * Judgmental – since everyone are mobile user no one can be given additional weight age. * Quota - it is logical as satisfaction differs as per user age group * Snowball – everyone uses mobile so snowball method not required.

* Sample size estimation – (150 samples) – suggested by Professor * Questionnaire Preparation * Like scale is planned to be used as it will be easy for working professionals to fill.

Step 4: Exploratory Research * Focus Group1 (7 young professionals , Time- 2hrs, moderator – AJAY (Mahindra) * Focus Group2 (5 experienced professionals , Time- 1 hrs, moderator –RAVI (TVS – LUCAS) * Summarizing * Young Professionals * Higher size RAM - Speedy Internet / play games * Network pickup * User interface - Easy Mail access / social media * Battery - Life / quick recharge / auto cut off after charge * Quality camera / front camera * Updates software / upgrade 3G to 4G * Storage - Video file / games / data files / Apps * Experienced Professionals * Network pickup * User interface - Easy Mail access / social media * Battery - Life / quick recharge / auto cut off after charge * Quality camera / front camera * Updates software / upgrade 3G to 4G * Storage - Video file / games / data files / Apps

* Identifying hypothesis.

From the above analysis,
The following constructs where taken forward (one construct (Camera) deleted), with average of the Items (not deleted questions) Sino | Constructs | 1 | Higher size RAM - Speedy Internet / play games | 2 | Battery - Life / quick recharge / auto cut off after charge | 4 | Updates software / upgrade 3G to 4G | 5 | Storage - Video file / games / data files / Apps | 6 | User interface - Easy Mail access / social media | 7 | Network pickup |

D) Correlation analysis

The constructs where having correlation to eliminate correlation factor analysis was selected as this construct has natural correlation.
E) Factor analysis

2 factors cover the maximum variance (66.032%)
Factor 1 & 2 has eignenvalues more than 1(explains more variance than any other individual construct)

Looking at Scree plot it is giving information that 2 factors cover the maximum variance

Looking at the above component matrix,
Factor 1 (User Interface)
Higher Ram
Software
Storage
Social media
Network
Factor 2 (Longevity)
Battery

F) Regression analysis
Regression was run for the above factors with DV (Are you satisfied with your current mobile)

Adjusted R-Square value is less – 0.316

From anova table is clear that regression is a significant. From the above table Factor 1 is significant i.e. User interface factor is significant Conclusion Exploratory research findings * Higher size RAM - Speedy Internet / play games * Network pickup * User interface - Easy Mail access / social media * Battery - Life / quick recharge / auto cut off after charge * Quality camera / front camera * Updates software / upgrade 3G to 4G * Storage - Video file / games / data files / Apps Conclusive research findings, Here the survey data has fair representation of both genders and has almost equal representation of young and experienced professionals, with this survey conclusive research we can conclude that User interface such has operating speed, network pickup, mail & social media access, user friendly software and sufficient storage, are the satisfaction drivers in mobile for the professional users in India.

Future Scope of Work This above conclusion cannot be taken strongly as R-square value is less, in order to have more confidence on conclusion need a high R-Square value this can be improved by having more focuse group discussion and adding more constructs and also increasing the sample size. .

Mobile Phone Usage Pattern

...Sayan Chakraborty. Mobile phone usage patterns amongst university students: A comparative study between India and USA. A Master’s Paper for the M.S. in I.S degree. April, 2006. 53 pages. Advisor: Diane Kelly Mobile phones are one of the most common information access devices with almost 31% of the global population having access. This exploratory study investigated usage patterns of, and attitude about, cell phones among university students in a mature market (United States) and a rapidly growing new market (India) by surveying students in each country. Key findings from the study include similarities in the usage of phones to communicate with others and in the perception of mobile phone usage in public settings, and differences in the use of text messaging and opinions regarding driving and mobile phone usage. Overall these results suggest students in India use mobile phones differently from their American counterparts. In a developing market like India, mobile phones may be the primary and only phone to which students have access. ...retail consistency can be more stimulating than with the manufacturing of products. The entire sense of the retail store strengthens the brand’s image of friendly, easy-to-use and stylish computer. Retail today has changed from selling a product or a service to selling a hope, an ambition and above all an experience that a consumer would like to repeat. Whether you call it customer service, customer experience, good selling habits, or simply doing the right thing, in retail you are only as successful as your last customer interaction. Lack of recognition as an industry creates challenges for the retail sector in many ways. Creating a powerful retail experience begins with a commitment to consistency. It begins with an understanding of what the brand is intended to mean. It begins with a gratitude for how the brand meaning should shape the retail experience. It begins with the consciousness that for retail brands, the retail experience is very much the brand experience. It is always useful to have better customer insights, which will help to target the appropriate market segments. Program strategy then can be defined to improve the Retail Experience and finally through Advance Measurement techniques, we can measure the performance of how much we have improved upon the Retail Experience. RETAILING “Retail is the sale of goods and services from individuals or businesses to the end-user. Retailers are part of an integrated system called the supply-chain. A retailer purchases...

Consumers Perception About Online Shopping in Indore

...ABSTRACT Today is the Era of Globalization and the consumer is not bound within boundaries of a particular place to access products available in the outer world, now he can go beyond the boundaries of any market area where he lives, to access the things of his interest. But this virtual connectivity known as “ONLINE SHOPPING OR E-TAILING” is really a challenge for Indian customers to be associated with; they face some real time problems related to trust and quality. But the Indian shopping trend shows some rigid type of behavior towards online shopping. They do not trust this shopping style as they have to see and choose a product virtually and pay for it, without any kind of physical touch, which was really difficult to be done in Indian market, but in past 2-3 years the trends have changed at least in metros and big cities. It has been observed that Indore is adapting the changes in shopping trends in metros very quickly, they love to shop from home and enjoy online shopping. So the process of analysis of factor affecting customer satisfaction levels was initiated, ACSI Model uses the three manifest variables: Customer’s Expectation, Perceived Values and Over-all Quality, which leads to satisfied customer. This will give us the clear insights of satisfied online shoppers across Indore. Factors affecting online shopping behavior Online shopping is a relatively new type of retail shopping. It has now been adopted all over the world including Thailand. In Thailand, electronic...
