Ethan Allen Ethan Allen was a man who helped the colonist become independent with his political figure and skills in the war. He fought in two wars the Revolutionary War and Seven Year War our focus will be on the Revolutionary War. He is Ethan Allen’s home life to his life in the war.

On January 21,1738 in Litchfield, Connecticut. Ethan Allen is born. Doesn’t know it yet but he will be a war hero and a key founder of The Republic of Vermont. He was a eldest child of seven. His father Joseph Allen. Wanted him to attend Yale but after his death in 1775 skewed that decision. He made his way to New Hampshire Grants which is now Vermont and joined the militia during the Seven Year War. They protected New Hampshire Grants. He fought in the Seven Year War but that is not why he is know. He is best known for capturing Fort Ticonderoga. In the spring of 1775 him and his troops along with Colonel Benedict Arnold took this fort. It changed the whole war Fort Ticonderoga was a supply line from Canada to The Hudson then the Atlantic. Once the supply line was cut off then the British could no longer sent troops and supplies. After the capture Henry Knox took the cannons and shot them from above into Boston and their ships. The British caved and fled from Boston. September the same year of the Fort Ticonderoga,1775, Allen attacked Montreal. That really did not turn out good. Allen got captured and was put on a ship to England once arrived at England King George III told prisoners were to be sent back to America to New York. They released him in 1778 due to the pack he was a commander. After he was released he was promoted Colonel He moved back to Vermont wrote books and passed away in 1789.
