How can a business succeed? A question which has been asked a thousand times. The most prominent answers to this question include developing a new technology, diversification of products, creating new customers, search of new markets etc. But do all these answers provide the business with a solution that can never be copied or adopted by its competitors, a solution which remains as a permanent answer for its need for success .It’s this realization that made employers to shift their focus on to their employees and their skills. The level skill and the ideas that a employees brings into the business is distinctive , it always maintains a level of uniqueness that cannot be duplicated. This realization lead to the employee welfare which later evolved into personnel management and now into a more sophisticated and progressive term “human resource management”.
HRM is a integral part of management as it deals with the most unpredictable and unique resource .as a management function what it tries to achieve is a common platform of objectives for both the employer n employee to carry forward their work, a failure to build this platform always result in conflict and even lead to collapse of the firm ,but once build it adds to the commitment and performance that is put forward by the employees throughout their time with the employer, this as a result earns the employer a competitive edge and better production capacity and quality work which every business strives to achieve. Speaking in technical terms the objectives that forms the basis for HRM includes staffing that is finding the right person for the right job, performance dealing with training and development of employees appointed , change management that helps a business to deal with continuous changes in environment and administrative which relates accurate information processing and recording.
