Introduction to College Writing/21292

What can you relate to that Neil has experienced? I know how it feels to lose everything. I know how it feels to come from nothing struggling and fighting to get my dreams and have them taken away. I know how it feels to go through so many trials and tribulations and still be able to look at things the way he does in this matter. I have also because of everything I have gone through been able to come to the same conclusions he has. I firmly believe that everyone needs to take a step back all the time and take a look at things because he was right when he said that we all have that inner child in us. We all have that three year old in us. Most people don’t recognize that. Honestly I feel more people should take a look at that inner child and see what it sees. Life would be more rewarding.

What impressed you? The fact that he was willing to share what he has gone through. Sharing his emotions. The fact that he was able to step back and come up with the steps and things he needed to do in order to make the changes in his life that was needed to be made. The fact that he was able to discuss the inner child concept. Not many people in this world really sit back and see that part of who they are or even the fact that part even exists in people let alone in themselves. The fact that he talks about how people basically go through trial and error to get to where they are today in life. Life is like a puzzle. If you keep working at it. Someday you will get to where you wanted to be if not better off because you learned along the way.

What shocked you? The fact that he did actually take a look at his inner child to see what is going on with himself, discussed the inner child theory, along with the 3 A’s he has come up with and appears to be practicing. Most people don’t normally follow what they say or the advice they give. They merely give advice to others that does help others, but do not take their own advice.

What is your response to Neil's situation? I am sorry that he has gone through the hardship that he has gone through. I am glad he is speaking on his experience. I am glad he appears to be following what he is speaking on. Most people don’t! He is right about people go through many things and emotions before you get to a point where you need or want to be. In my eyes, God puts us through many trials and tribulations. What we do with them is up to us. We are only who we are because of what we go through. What we go through is only going to make us stronger in the end.

This I Believe

...power, others believe in commitment. I believe in the power of relating. When a leader relates to a follower, they understand what the follower is going through in the particular situation. When this happens it makes everything else go smoothly. And when things go smoothly then everything else falls into place. Having the ability to relate to people gives you a great connection with the people around you, it allows you to connect with them in a way that is like no other. When a person knows that they are not alone in a situation or knows that you have been through it or can (relate) to them then it builds confidence. You are leading them through a situation that is unfamiliar to them, and with relating to the situation you help them through it and give them light in the darkness. In my family my mom and dad would always have the power to relate to what I was going through. They always had a way of relating to what I was going through in life. It didn’t matter if it was a simple thing as in a bad grade on a test or whether my coach got on me at practice, they were always there for my support and understood what I was going through. One person that always knew I could relate to them and help them through situations was my brother. My brother is 3 years younger than me. He has always looked to me for answers. He knows that I have been through it all and he knows that he can come to me as a leader to help him through a situation that he has in front of him. When he first...

Social Cultural Identity

...November, 2014 Social and Cultural Identity: How it can shape us. Erik Erikson once said, “In the social jungle of human existence, there is no feeling of being alive without a sense of identity.” I believed that Erickson wanted us to know that everyone should have an identity either socially or culturally. Social identity distinguishes you from everyone else by what you say and what you do. Cultural identity also paints an image to others about how you are excited about a culture or a belief and how you will interact with it. Experiences are important to us because it is something that allows society to see both of your identities. My experiences are similar to Beneatha in A Raisin...

Wonder By R. J. Palacio Essay

...When a part of a story is relatable, it’s there to ground you to the real world. It’s to help the book make sense. When it’s not relatable, that part is there to give you new perspectives. It makes the book more interesting. Wonder is a compelling book because it tells a story that is out of the ordinary, but has some relatable parts, like how hard middle school can be. Having a life that is so different from mine, August is hard to relate to. Maybe some people can relate to him, but I can’t. I have never seen anyone with a physical disfigurement. It’s horrible how...

Twitter Through the Years

...opponents and distinguished judges. The resolution before the house today is be it resolved that reality TV shows reflects real life. First let me list a few reality TV shows you guys may watch at home- Dragons Den, Jersey Shore, Survivor and Big Brother. Now, what do all these shows have in common besides all being reality TV shows? They all have normal everyday people, real reactions and the people who watch these shows can relate to them. Yes some people may argue that some shows are over-done and the actor’s reactions are fake but the truth behind the matter is that everybody has a different opinion on what over-doing a reaction is. If reality shows didn’t reflect our lives, then nobody would watch the shows. We watch reality shows because they are entertaining, and they put people like us in situations where their actions are being watched 24/7. But how long can you really keep acting fake? The real you, the real reactions when you are put in a hard situation will come out. ...laboratory questions in this physiology course will require you to perform a mathematical calculation. For example, “Dr. Gomez orders 0.08 grams of medication for a patient. Each pill contains 0.003 grams of the medicine. How many pills will the patient need?” This problem may seem difficult at first but there is a problem-solving method called the unit factor method that will guide you, step by step, to the correct answer. This method is sometimes also called the “dimensional analysis” method. A) Numbers and units Any value or quantity in a problem has two parts: A number and a unit. For example, 0.08 grams The number The unit The unit tells you what type of thing you are talking about. The number tells you how much of that thing you are talking about. Toyo Themes

...Alan Gratz has a very different style than most authors. One thing that I love about Alan Gratz is that he mixed the history of Japan and Baseball into an action packed book. There are books that usually compare history and another subject, but Alan Gratz has used the two books to create a struggle. That is another element that I like most books. Another different quality is that he has added a sense of confusion to Toyo. In most books, you see a slight view of confusion but in this book Toyo is confused about the society of Japan and why must his dad commit seppuku. Samurai Shortstop is in third person omniscient because the narrator goes into the characters thoughts and feelings. The narrator basically knows everything that is happening in the story. Page 156 Toyo pushed aside his clothes – “ It is time for class” said Futoshi Analysis II – Themes: What are the book’s themes? Prove the importance of these themes with examples from the novel. One theme in Samurai shortstop is the theme of challenging the status quo. Throughout the book, Toyo had been taught Bushido, the way of the warrior to understand his Uncles Koji’s death. One scene where he was confused was when Fuji (Yoshiko Fujimura) had told him that his family was not from samurai class and that Besuboru (Baseball) is not a Samurai game but everyone who had played Sumo...
