Gun Control
Do you ever wonder why there are so many crimes in our country? There are many crimes involving firearms happening in our country that most of them we do not know about unless it is a massive shooting. Many of these happenings are in cities near us that could possibly harm us. Our politicians are trying to solve the problems with these actions that are taking place, but some of the suggestions interfere with the constitutional rights. Since gun control is not going to help lower crime rates, stricter gun laws will not help the situation.

Some people believe that Gun Control will help reduce crime rates. There has not been a reduction in gun violence even with the stricter laws. Republican legislators have offered thoughts and prayers to …show more content…
Over the years there have been many terrorist acts involving guns bought in our own country. We are letting people from other countries enter our country while their intentions being here are not good while they harm people of our country for their beliefs. Yet we do not do anything about it. In San Bernardino California there was a mass shooting that killed over 15 people, they pledged to ISIS during the shooting. It was the worst shooting since the Sandy Hook shooting in 2012. Thoughts on the article.Summing up the article. The main points of this article is that we cannot put a complete end to crime acts involving guns. Yes more strict gun laws may help reduce gun violence but will not put an end to the crimes. If you take more action on guns in bigger cities there could be a chance that the crimes may reduce and come to peace. There are more actions you can take to help reduce violence while avoiding and conflict with the constitution. Background checks only see the person background to see if he/she has any felonies or violations but you do not know what their intentions are with the firearm. The use of firearms should be if we are

Why Is Gun Control Bad

...Hour 4/9/2018 Gun Control Gun control can be defined as the control over what types of guns and armory can be purchased by everyday consumers and the public, control by the seller to determine who is eligible to purchase a weapon and run background checks on their customers before purchasing, or simply outlawing guns all together. Many see gun control to be beneficial to a safe and non-violent society; however, Gun Control is not the solution to crime and violence in the US. Gun control will not prevent criminals from purchasing guns and limits our rights that go along with the 2nd Amendment. Gun control will not prevent criminals from buying guns. Mexico is a prime example. Mexico is well known for their extremely strict gun laws in their fight to lower their crime rates. For example they only have one gun shop in the whole country that is on a heavily guarded military base and if you are lucky enough to go there to buy a gun you get to choose from a .38 caliber handgun or lower caliber pistols and get one box of ammunition. (Burnett) From 2006 to 2010 the gun shop in Mexico had a recorded sale account of 6,490 guns, but as of 2012 the...

Why Is Gun Control Bad

...The need for more gun control laws is more prevalent than ever with the rise of mass shootings in public places and most places in the United States. Just the topic of gun laws making others think their rights are being stripped away from them is a main point of contention and not the risk of just going along with your business and catching a bullet because someone is not all there and happened to have or get access to a firearm or just had one too many bad days. The main subject of this essay is to point out the ways gun control has failed and done better in the places of the world, but I will be mainly focusing on the United States and how the lack of action of those in power to stop or limit the amount of these violent crimes is a problem...

Why Is Gun Control Bad

...Gun control paper Gun control is a big thing in the United States nowadays. There are people that think the American people would be better off without any guns at all and there is people that think that it would be better with guns and firearms. My opinion is in the middle of being for and against gun control. Some places it would be good to not have guns and other places should have guns. People that are for gun control might think that there shouldn’t be any guns in America so that their wouldn’t be anymore crime and murders with a firearm. But with this idea, the government would have to destroy all guns in the world because if America goes gun free there will be people that will want guns. With that people from different countries...

Why Is Gun Control Bad

...A- Block Gun Control essay Why does gun control continue to be an argument in this country? Will America ever come to an agreement? I will explain my opinion in this essay. My opinion will be based on the New York Times magazine “Upfront- The Gun Debate.” The discussion of gun control has many different points of view. Though guns are sometimes kept to help, they can be given to criminals and used in the wrong ways, too. “Gun control is a broad term that covers many kinds of restrictions.” said the article. What is gun control? Gun control is known as the restriction the government puts on the buying, selling, and usage of firearms. Now that we know what gun control is, why do so many citizens argue about it? Some people believe that if the government banned U.S. citizens from personally owned firearms that it would lead to a safer environment. Others counteract that by stating that if people are murdering others now our only protection is guns. However if you take firearms away then people wouldn’t have anything to either scare off criminals or protect themselves and others....

Why Gun-Control Is a Bad Idea

...Cheyenne Frazier 10/15/15 Anti-Gun Control 867 words Why Gun Control is a Bad Idea The world is full of many dangers and here we will address one of them. Imagine if you were stuck in a heist, where criminals have the guns pointed at your head. In one quick motion, with a finger pressed into the trigger, you could lose your life. However, what if you reimagine the situation with a few citizens who are armed? Whether they are conceal-carriers, or have it open-carry, they could defend themselves and the others against the criminals. This is what many do not consider. Although guns are misused and are used against another human being, without guns we are only victimized in many different ways. We have no way to defend ourselves as quickly as we could with our own source of guns. Guns are tools, just like cars and hammers and axes and so forth. Some argue that guns have no use other than to cause harm and destruction. Although that is true, as we use them for sport in hunting and to cause harm but in a protective way, guns were never intended to murder others seemingly for the sport of it. Guns are made by the militia and the people for defensive purposes. However, some get their minds wrapped around it the wrong way, and they turn to darkness and abuse the ability of guns for wicked reasons. If the government were to ban the usage of guns, surely this evil usage of guns will not stop; instead, it will invite homicide, the deaths of...

Why Gun Control Is a Bad Idea

...auxiliary right, supporting the natural rights of self-defense, resistance to oppression, and the civic duty to act in concert in defense of the state. Academic inquiry into the purpose, scope, and effect of the amendment has been controversial and subject to numerous interpretations both by constitutional scholars and ordinary citizens. America has a long history of its citizens keeping and bearing arms. The earliest settlers from Virginia thru New England used their firearms to hunt for game to feed their families and protect them from attack from both two and four legged predators. Firearms in essence, changed the culture of guns in the Americas. Gun control is another of those pesky freedoms granted by the countries forefathers in the attempt to protect the citizenry from a tyrannical ruling government. Our founding fathers have provided many quotes regarding why they adopted the Second Amendment Here are but a few of them: (Guncite.Com) "A free people ought to be armed." - George Washington "Those who would give up essential liberty to purchase a little temporary safety, deserve neither liberty nor safety." - Benjamin Franklin "No free man shall ever be debarred the use of arms." - Thomas Jefferson "I prefer dangerous freedom over peaceful slavery." - Thomas Jefferson "The laws that forbid the carrying of arms are laws of such a nature. They disarm only those who are...

Why Is Gun Control Good Or Bad

...Gun control, helpful or harmful? The open carry laws are reducing crime rates in the United States. Although allowing people to carry concealed weapons can be risky, they law stops a number of violent crimes. The open carry laws greatly reduce crime. Take into consideration that "in states with open carry, violent crime was 23 percent lower. . ." (Gillin and Sherman). Now twenty-three percent at first thought seems like a slim difference. Well think about it this way, twenty-five percent is one-fourth. Twenty-three percent is just about one-fourth of the American population. Now think about this, one-fourth of the American population is around eighty-million people. After wrapping your brain around that fact look back and think for yourself...

Argumentative Essay: Is Gun Control Bad?

...Is gun control bad? “Countries with higher gun ownership have lower murder rates.”(Harvard 1) There are two sides to the debate, people against gun control and people for gun control. It is a big issue because there are so many people for and against guns. There are 318 million people in the United States and 270 million use guns. While there are reasons for higher gun control, there are just as many against it also. “In some early states people were required to own guns,”(Krull 80) so why are people trying to take away them now. The problem has been around for a long time but it started with racism against African americans. In 1837 Georgia passed a law banning guns but it was decided that it was unconstitutional really quickly. In 1968 a gun control act was passed to keep firearms out of the hands of people who were not...

Gun Control

...Gun Control is when you keep firearms plus guns away from people. Many people think that gun control is right because they think keeping people away from guns will reduce the amount of deaths each year. They also think that guns cause many of the deaths that had been committed each year. Also when ever people hear the word gun, the thoughts are of violence and negativity. Many people, myself included think gun control is wrong because we know that it is not necessary, since we know that guns were not involved in many of the deaths caused each year. While many other people disagree and think it is good because of the safety for people. In this essay I will tell you why gun control is unnecessary and why there shouldn?t be any gun control at all. There have been many gun control laws established throughout the U.S., but they vary from state to state. For example, in Colorado you can purchase any type of gun: handgun, machine gun, shotgun, rifle, automatic rifle, etc. at the age of 18, while in other places you would need a hunting license.1 I think this is unfair because when I?m at the age of 18 I would want to buy a gun, but I can?t because I?m living in California and another 18 year old could in Colorado. Also, another example is that in some states, they allow citizens to carry concealed weapons, while in other states citizens can?t. I don?t think this is fair at all because I think they should make laws that suits the whole U.S., and not make different laws in different...

Gun Control

...Conway Why gun control is bad So growing up in the south, guns were a way of life and every day I remember before going to school me and my bro would get up every day at 4am and go hunting for game and every day we would throw our guns in the back of his Chevy and we would go to school get and our education. Then after- school have ended we would go straight into our duck blinds for another two to three hours then we would bring home our kill and help our parents make dinner. And we would sit around our table eating dinner talking about our day and how we would work with our hand and to produce food and money to pay bills. But now you got people like Barrack Hussein Obama who is trying to destroy a way of life but trying to destroy apart of America by trying to change the second amendment. Reasons on why I think gun control is bad The Second Amendment of the US Constitution protect individual gun ownership. Next reason is Gun control laws do not deter crime; gun ownership deters crime and Gun control laws, especially those that try to ban assault weapons, also it well infringe upon the right to own guns for hunting and sport As a proud American I hold the United States constitution to my heart. The second amendment of the US constitution reads, "A well-regulated militia being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed.(stated from the nra website) or in simple terms the right to carry a gun. Next gun ownership...

Against Gun Control

...What is worse, guns or people that own them? Many people are asking this question, and the answer is neither. Guns are generally used for hunting or defense and are owned by great people. Also, some bad people do happen to own guns (often illegally) and they do bad things with them. But if they did not have a gun, they would use a knife or a bat, guns are just tools. The right for people to bear arms should not be taken away because it is a second amendment right, and when respected and used properly, they are not a danger. So let us talk about who owns guns and why. As of the year 2009 there are 307 million people living in the United States, and as of 2010 300 million of them own guns 100 million of those are handguns. Based on surveys, the following are estimates of private firearm ownership in the U.S. as of 2010: | |Households With a Gun |Adults Owning a Gun |Adults Owning a Handgun | |Percentage |40-45% |30-34% |17-19% | |Number |47-53 million |70-80 million |40-45 million | In the same poll, gun owners were asked why they own guns. 67% stated that they own guns to protect against crime, 66% said target shooting, and 41% said hunting. These being the main reasons people own guns, why should they lose their rights because of a few bad people who do happen to own guns. Based on a...

There is a lot of debate between whether or not more laws should be passed to control the ownership and manufacturing of guns in the United States. Can gun control laws reduce the amount of gun violence? The clear answer is yes. First, the suicide rate will lower if we enact more gun control laws. Next, making people undergo background checks before owning a gun will help reduce the risk of a firearm ending up in the hands of a criminal or a mentally ill person. Third, there will be more gun deaths if it is easier to obtain a...

The Pros And Cons Of Stricter Gun Control Laws

...Recently, a huge debate has come up about whether there needs to be stricter gun laws. This debate was heavily impacted by the recent shootings. Some believe that there should be stricter gun control and others believe there should not be. Many people are blaming these tragic events on the weapons and others think that the weapons don't kill the people behind the weapon do. Thesis: There does not need to be higher restrictions on guns because if someone can't get a gun legally they will get one illegally, guns are used for protection, and criminals target unarmed people. Advocates of increased gun control laws believe that by making it harder for people to obtain guns will decrease the number of shootings. The author of "It's time to ban guns. Yes all of them" states that, “It’s not about dividing society into “good” and “bad” gun...
