“For good ideas and true innovation, you need human interaction, conflict, argument, debate.” Should kids be in bed by 8:00 and all televisions, computers , video games should be turned off. From my point of view I have to say I would agree with this doctor. On a personal note, at my own home I can get addicted to electronics and stay up as late as 11:00. My parents highly enforce me to put my phone away and say it's time for bed. An even if I don’t they take my phone and charge it in their room. Recently I have started to break that habit and it has changed my life. My grades have improved, my behavior has improved, and it has helped me feel better when I wake up. I feel energized when I wake up and that 8:00 curfew has pushed me to start

It is also within sport that peer status and peer acceptance is established and developed.” Dr. Robert (Children and Sport: An Introduction ) . From an early age, our children lead a sedentary life, they spend many hours in bed, then they go to kindergarten or school most of the time getting a ride from mom's car or using public transportation, where they remain for seven to eight hours a day, if not more. Why School Should Start Later Essay

...changing the time will have several consequences. Early is on time, and on time is late. With school times being later, students will be more lax and less focused on the lesson. Therefore, school should not be held at a later time. This is necessary because students will be able to have more time after school to complete tasks and do their hobbies. In addition, students who come out of school earlier, are happier than those who have to arrive and stay at school longer. Furthermore, it is scientifically proven that early times have little to no effect on the academics of a student. Finally, while starting school later gives students more time to sleep, it ultimately can cause a large disruption in the schedule of parents and transportation. There are several...

Why School Should Start Later

...I woke up grumpy and annoyed by the constant buzzing sound of the alarm clock. “I should be sleeping right now. Not waking up at 6 AM.” I grumbled to myself as I slowly got ready for another day of school. People often ask their friends and themselves why we have to get up early almost everyday and be at school by 8:45 or 7:30. (Debate.org) According to the data collected from students, 79% say that school should start later, while the remaining 21% oppose the idea. One student who supports the idea stated that she had observed her sister through her high school years. She said that if her sister’s school had started later, and ended later, then she would be ready to learn and the chance of her falling asleep during class decrease. Another student claimed that a average teenager need about 9.5 hours of sleep a night, but study shows that teens usually get about 7.5 hours. Their claim was that you can’t concentrate when you are tired, and if you were taking a exam, you would need concentration. Other students share that they don’t have time for breakfast, they are stressed in the morning hours and they feel rushed. Though the students are correct, the other 21% is also correct. Students...

Why Kids Should Not Have Homework

...No Homework! I think that schools should not make their students have homework, because it causes health issues/stress, less time for other activities, and they don't have help or assistance. Kids should not have homework every night for a very long time after they had already been in schools for 7 hours or more. So these are some reasons why kids do not need to have a lot of homework after school every day monday-friday for many years. First, Kids do not have enough time for other things if they are always having to do their homework after school. According to Harris cooper kids should get 10 minutes of homework times their grade level so kids can do other things to. Harris cooper is the chairman of the “Battle against homework” at Duke university. One way this interferes with family/friend time. This makes kids not have as much friends if they can’t hang out with them.Kids have so much homework every day the are never out of their room and with their family until they have to go bed. And then the same thing repeats every night the entire school year. Also, kids go to their friends house and then at around 10 o'clock at night they have to do a lot of homework so they are tired the next day. Next, Homework is not even to improve academics so kids can’t be with their parents just to do something that doesn’t even make them smarter....

...the morning and most people would agree. The average start time for high schools in America is 8:03 which is before the recommended start time of 8:30. Why does school start early? The majority of U.S. middle and high schools start their school days too early, not letting young people get enough sleep for development and academic success. One of the reasons schools should start later is that they are not starting at the recommended time set by the American Academy of Pediatrics of 8:30. A new study was published from the Centers of Disease Control (CDC) that states that less than one in five middle and high schools in America starts...

Why School Should Start Later Essay

...Are you rushing out of the house with toast dangling from your mouth, or are you casually driving to school in the front of your mother's shiny new van, ten minutes early? Schools across America have been starting school later, so kids can get in that extra hour of sleep. Other schools have kept the usual schedule of starting class at 8:00 am. The starting time for schools shouldn’t be delayed because of transportation, kids after school activities, and the cost. To start of, the schools transportation system would be affected if the starting time changed. According to the Issaquah School District, “Many districts use the same buses for elementary, middle, and high schools.” Changing start time, and bus schedules, could lead to serious safety issues. Students would either have to be at the bus stop early, or walk home in the dark. This could lead to many problems including a higher risk of student victim crimes. Also if students are getting home late, they will have no time for homework causing them to stay up even later to finish...

Ways We Are Ruining Our Children

...that I should not be allowed to parent my own children. Though all of that is true sometimes, I assure you I am not as crazy as I sound, that my children are healthy and happy, and that most of the time they really do like me. Since having children, I have noticed some things. I have noticed that every time I see a smattering of stick people stickers on the back of a minivan, my soul dies a little. That commercials really are brainwashing my kids into thinking they need whatever new sugar frosted chocolate bombs in the shapes of kitties and bunnies cereal Kellogg’s has released this month. That if we don’t trek our children to Disneyworld before they are 5 years old, I’m pretty sure Walt Disney himself will rise from the dead and smite us all. But most of all, I have noticed the multitude of ways that we are ruining our children. 1. Participation trophies. Participation trophies are the biggest load of bull I have ever witnessed. The only time they are appropriate is if your child is playing in a 3 year old soccer league (quite frankly, I can’t believe this exists), and all they do is run around in circles, pick at the grass and their nose, and dig for bugs in the middle of the field. If they can make it through an entire game, they deserve a trophy. But everyone else, not so much. Let me let you in on a little secret that you might not want to hear, folks. Everyone isn’t a winner. Every one of you, at some point in your life, has been a loser. So have your kids. And so...

...really tired in the morning and wish you were back in your warm comfortable bed, well I have. That is why I think that school start times should start later. The reasons why I think we should change the school start time is because of kids mental health, physical health, and for kids ability to stay awake during school or other activities. The first reason we should start school later is because of the kids' mental health. It shows that, “Sleep deprivation increases the likelihood teens will suffer myriad negative consequences, including an inability to concentrate, poor grades, drowsy-driving incidents, and anxiety.” This shows that there will be negative consequences for teenagers if they don’t get enough sleep....
